As a fellow resident, you’ll have access to critical information regarding the HOA budget and annual meeting minutes. The aforementioned information can only be accessed by establishing a log-on user name and password. Texas Parking Law

Let’s be mindful to not park in front of a fellow neighbor’s home and mailbox. If you own a boat, trailer and other vehicles our streets should not be treated as an extension of your driveway. We encourage you to not keep such vehicles parked on our public streets for extended periods. Some residential streets become more like an obstacle course and creating blind spots while driving through the neighborhood. More importantly, parking on some residential streets can make it more difficult for emergency vehicles to service our area.

A number of our residential homes need to ensure the address clearly visible and not obstructed by plants or other items. If you or someone in your home required emergency attention, the lack of a visible address may result in delayed assistance. Reflective numbering on the curb nearest the driveway is considered the most effective. Many of the newer homes have the address located on the homes under an external light. If this is the case, it’s critical to ensure the address is not obstructed by plants.

We have received numerous complaints regarding vehicles, trailers and other items parked on the streets. As neighbors we must adhere to state law as follows:

Due to traffic problems some residents are causing, the HOA will report residents to the Texas State Comptroller’s Office that fail to compliance with state law. Trash Pickup Services

Royal Waste Management encourages residents to call in complaints regarding trash pickup. The crews are participating in a competition whereby the best crew receives a cash bonus at yearend. All complaints are taken seriously and posted internally for all crews to view. Additionally, the crew suffers deductions for each complaint. If you have a complaint regarding the trash service, contact Charles Gregory (Operations Manager) at 713-526-1536. Let’s be mindful that as residents, we must do our part by placing waste in trash bags. If you can’t lift the bag or trash receptacle it’s too full. You should consider breaking up your trash into more bags. We encourage you to remove all trash receptacles from curbside before you retire in the evenings. Additionally, the crew cannot pickup paint and other hazardous materials. You must take such items either to a Harris County or City of Houston hazardous waste dumpsite.

Animals that are not properly restrained pose a threat to all our residents. While you may know your pet is friendly, an animal running at someone who is walking by is very scary for that person. Many children are afraid of animals and become frightened, which could result in the child getting hurt trying to avoid the animal. Harris County Animal Control advises, “All dogs and cats must be

kept under restraint while in the unincorporated areas of Harris County, Texas. The custodian of a dog or cat is not authorized to have, harbor or keep any unlicensed dog or cat, nor to allow any dog or cat to become a stray.” Restraint is defined as “the control of a dog or cat under the following circumstances: 1. When it is controlled by a line or leash not more than six (6) feet in length, if the line or leash is held by a human being, who is capable of controlling or governing the dog or cat in question 2. When it is within a fully enclosed vehicle 3. When it is on the premise of the custodian and the animal does not have access to sidewalk or street.” While it may be nice to have your animal out in the yard while you work or play, it is against the law, unless the animal is properly restrained. Let’s all help keep our community a safe and comfortable place for all our residents by being responsible pet owners. This will not only protect anyone who may be walking or bicycling in the area, but also the pet owner who could be held legally responsible or possibly sued for failing to properly restrain their pet. THE STANDING RULES FOR RAINTREE VILLAGE HOA BOARD MEETINGS

The Board of Directors feels it serves you best when the Board meetings are conducted in an orderly manner. The HOA Board Meetings are held to conduct Association business. Your cooperation in this regard is requested. Parliamentary Procedure is followed at this Meeting. There are two sessions at the HOA Board Meetings, an open session when members may be present and an executive session when no members are permitted. Board Meeting will begin with the open session at 7:00 PM until 7:15 PM when that time slot has been filled, members must wait until the next month’s meeting to be placed on the agenda.

4. Members of the audience shall not be permitted to interrupt nor question any speaker. 5. After the speaker has finished addressing the Board, the Meeting Chairperson will recognize the next Member to speak. 6. Members in attendance are not permitted to engage in private discussions during the open session and must remain quite or leave the meeting room. 7. Violations of these Standing Rules will not be tolerated. Violators may be requested to leave the Meeting.

During the January Katy ISD Board Work Study meeting, Officer Ryan P. Gonzales was sworn-in to serve on the 37-member Katy ISD Police Force. Officer Gonzales has 10 years of experience in law enforcement, having served as a Harris County Precinct 5 Deputy Constable and Fort Bend County Deputy Sheriff. Gonzales’ roots are in public education as his father, Richard Gonzales, is an associate principal in Fort Bend ISD and his mother, Marilyn Gonzales, is a Katy ISD educator. Gonzales resides within Katy ISD with his wife of thirteen years, Amiko and two children, Brendon and Kylee. Katy ISD peace officers are licensed and certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education. LONE STAR SYMPHONIC BAND RECEIVES SUDLER SILVER SCROLL AWARD National Award given to Community Bands Annually

The Lone Star Symphonic Band is celebrating a milestone season in 2012 - 2013 with five concerts that run to June 2013. The Katy-based non-profit community band, featuring many Katy ISD employees under the direction of Fine Arts Director Bob Bryant, has three concerts remaining in this year’s season that will be held on March 3rd, May 5th and June 30th. The Band is also this year’s recipient of the Sudler Silver Scroll Award, North America’s most prestigious award for Community Concert Bands. The award is administered by the John Philip Sousa Foundation to honor community bands that have demonstrated particularly high standards of excellence in concert activities and played a significant role in the cultural and musical environment in their respective communities. The award includes a plaque, certificates for each band member and the Diploma of the Sudler Order of Merit for Mr. Bob Bryant, the Band’s Music Director. “The Sudler Silver Scroll Award is definitely a major accomplishment and it is exciting that we received the award during our milestone 20th season,” Band President, Beverly Buis said. “The support of so many music enthusiasts, the City of Katy, KCAA and having CrossPoint Community Church as our rehearsal and concert site has encouraged and inspired each band member to prepare more diligently so that we may continue to deliver quality band concerts to the Katy/West Houston area.” The Lone Star Symphonic Band is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to bringing performances of artistic merit to the Houston metropolitan area. Founded in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band, the band is comprised of musicians from all walks of life and instills the value that music is a life-long event, continuing well beyond high school and college.

The Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved the naming of its newest campus, High School No. 7, after retired educator Obra D. Tompkins. Obra D. Tompkins High School is located at 4400 Falcon Landing Blvd. and is slated to open in August 2013. Tompkins served more than 39 years in the field of education, serving the bulk of his years as principal for Mayde Creek High School. He has been called a ‘trailblazer’ among his colleagues and has served in a number of capacities in education during his career. Tompkins retired in 2012 from his most recent position as Katy ISD’s executive director for campus administrative support. Katy ISD’s living namesakes have more than just years of education experience. They are community-minded individuals who mentor, participate in community projects and volunteer their time and resources to continue to make the Katy ISD community the leader in educational excellence.

TOMPKINS HIGH SCHOOL HEAD FOOTBALL COACH ANNOUNCED

During their regular January Board meeting, the Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved Anthony “Tony” Tademy as the new head football coach and athletic coordinator for Obra D. Tompkins High School, slated to open in August 2013. Tademy comes to Katy ISD after serving as an assistant football coach for Duncanville High School in 2012 and serving as an assistant football coach for seven years at Texas Christian University. With more than 27 years of high school and collegiate coaching experience, Tademy’s record includes one high school state championship, a 2010 Rose Bowl win and six additional college Bowl wins. Tademy started his football career in 1985 as the assistant football coach at the Virginia Military Institute. He has held multiple assistant coach and defensive coordinator positions at top universities including Louisiana Tech University, University of Houston and Texas Christian University. Tademy holds a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University. “Coach Tademy is bringing more than just extensive experience to Obra D. Tompkins High School,” says Principal Mark Grisdale. “He has coached and developed an impressive roster of players and has a reputation for integrity and leadership. I believe our student athletes will succeed with him as both a coach and a mentor.”
