The Sundown Glen HOA Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, April 16th, at 5:00 PM at the Clubhouse. If you have something to discuss with the Board and need to be placed on the agenda, please contact RealManage.
WELCOME REALMANAGE
The Board of Directors is excited to announce our new partnership with RealManage. RealManage will be providing Sundown Glen with a wide array of services and technology including customer service representatives ready to answer owner questions and concerns and an internet Resident Portal for homeowners to manage their own accounts online! RealManage will also have the ability to email reminders, notices and other announcements to residents, as necessary. We are expecting a smooth transition from Crest to RealManage, but understand that with all new systems, we may experience a few ‘growing pains’ along the way. We are confident that RealManage customer service representatives will be able to assist you and resolve any issue that arises! All current records, violations, legal issues, etc. will also remain intact. Our contract will provide TWO (2) monthly drive-through inspections. This is being done to keep our community looking nice so our property values can be maintained. Residents will receive violation notices on a more frequent basis and may result in action being taken in a timelier manner. Our attorneys are very hard at work and doing an excellent job enforcing violations and collecting delinquent amounts owed. PLEASE take some time to review your Deed Restrictions and as a homeowner and/or renter, take pride in your residence and make it a priority to maintain your property to keep Sundown Glen a great community to live in.

Please keep your eyes and ears open and be aware of your surroundings at all times. If something or someone looks/ sounds suspicious, it probably is. DEED RESTRICTION REMINDERS
As you set goals for 2013, please remember that where you live is the single greatest investment you make in your life with your time and money and to provide for yourself and your family. Take a moment and remember why you purchased and/or rented a home in Sundown Glen and remember the little things that make living in Sundown Glen better for yourself and also for your neighbors. Here are some basic items to be considered regularly - regular property maintenance of paint, siding and fences, mow yard, edge drives/sidewalks/curbs, weed expansion joints and flower beds, rake leaves, trim hedges/trees, replace missing/dead grass/shrubs, water yards as necessary, keep trash cans/lawn clipping bags out of view; be courteous of noise if you are having a late party, leash and pickup after your dog and do not allow your pets to roam or bark constantly. These little things can be done without much fuss and will help everyone!!! GREEN ALGAE: Many homes in Sundown Glen have developed a green algae on them - mostly on the north side of the house. Please check your home and remedy this problem ASAP before RealManage starts sending violation letters. To get rid of the stain: use a solution of 3 parts white vinegar to 7 parts water. Scrub the siding with a soft sponge and rinse it with water. You can prevent the mold from returning by regularly cleaning the problem areas of siding with this mixture. Please check your home and remedy this problem ASAP before violation letters are sent. Remember, these letters cost the HOA and homeowners… please abide by all deed restrictions for maintaining your property and help keep Sundown Glen looking nice. FLOWER BEDS/YARDS: This is a great time, while it’s still cool, to get yards raked and flower beds weeded and mulched and ready for spring planting. FENCE REPAIRS: Please inspect your fences and repair/replace missing/warped or broken boards. GARAGE SALE SIGNS: Please remove all posted garage sale signs from medians, yards, poles and mailboxes at the conclusion of your sale and help keep our community clean!

Your Homeowners Annual fee pays for your streetlights, whether they work or not. If a light is out in your area, please call 713-207-2222 or go to http://cnp.centerpointenergy.com/outage and report it. Each light pole should have a number on it. When reporting the light, you will need to provide the pole number and closest intersection or address. We want all of our lights to work… a lighted area is a safer area.
PARKING IN THE STREET
Did you know when a number of vehicles park in the street, emergency vehicles have a difficult task maneuvering down the street. Due to the size and clearance needs of these emergency vehicles, a street lined with parked cars obstructs the passage and delays response time. While it is understood that during certain events, vehicles parking on the street is an unavoidable circumstance, please park in your driveways and ask your guests to park their car as close to curb as possible and not line both sides of the street.

“While we are very pleased that our students outperformed the state, that is not our only goal,” says Katy ISD Superintendent, Alton Frailey. “While we will remain competitive with our peer districts within the state accountability system, our primary objective is to provide each student high quality and comprehensive learning experiences.” The STAAR test assesses student performance based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) learning objectives developed by the TEA. Because students took the STAAR test for the first time in 2012, test scores will not count in any way toward a student’s 2012 - 2013 state testing results, regardless if they passed or failed the test. The TEA is currently in the process of developing a new accountability system for the 2013 - 2014 school year. Additionally, the TEA will not be assigning accreditation status to school districts in 2012 - 2013. During the next two weeks, parents will receive their child’s Confidential Student Report, which provides a summary of how their child performed. Because the STAAR assessments are new and more rigorous than past TAKS assessments, many parents may see test scores that differ from previous TAKS test results.

“The change in scores is not a reflection of the education that students receive as we continue to provide high-quality instruction that students and parents expect in Katy ISD,” says Katy ISD’s Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Christine Caskey. “Not only is STAAR more rigorous than TAKS, this was the first time students saw the format of the new test. As students and teachers become more familiar with STAAR, we anticipate that future scores will improve.” Students who participate in the 2013 spring administration of STAAR will receive a new Confidential Student Report near the end of the 2013 school year. The 2013 spring administration of the STAAR will be the first set of test results that will count toward a student’s state testing performance.
