RAINTREE VILLAGE RECYCLES
Our community participates in recycling through our trash services company. Yet, it’s been brought to our attention that not all residents are aware of this opportunity. Residents may contact Royal Disposal at 713-526-1536 to obtain a recycle bin. The following items may be placed in the recycle bin and placed for pickup on trash days (Tuesdays & Fridays): • newsprint • corrugated cardboard • office and computer paper • mixed paper • plastics • magazines • telephone directories • aluminum cans and scrap The HOA needs to hear from you regarding the program. Do you recycle? If so, how often do you use the recycle bin? Would you like the option of receiving a larger bin (size of a regular trashcan)? Where would you store a recycle bin of this size? Please let us know by emailing mgmt@kpmmanagement.com
SATELLITE DISHES
It’s come to HOA’s attention that the installation of satellite dishes on some homes violates the deed restrictions. Satellites are expected to be installed out of sight of public view. The Association appreciates residents taking the time to ensure compliance.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Last year, the HOA sponsored several community events whereby neighbors can come out get to know each other and have fun. This year, the same events have been budgeted but to ensure even greater success we need the assistance of volunteers. Additionally, we have standing committees, which require an ongoing commitment of service. Volunteers are needed for the following: Pool Committee - organizes Official Pool Opening Party & monitors activities during pool season Crime Watch Committee - organizes National Night Out Newsletter - submit articles Yard of the Month - select section winners Santa at Raintree Village - organizes and assists in event Raintree Village Turkey Trot - 5k run/walk November 2013

RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS
A number of our residential homes need to ensure the address clearly visible and not obstructed by plants or other items. If you or someone in your home required emergency attention, the lack of a visible address may result in delayed assistance. Reflective numbering on the curb nearest the driveway is considered the most effective. Many of the newer homes have the address located on the homes under an external light. If this is the case, it’s critical to ensure the address is not obstructed by plants.
RECREATION CARDS
Raintree Village residents will now be able to apply for a recreation card online at www.raintreevillage.com, through the community website. Our new application can be found in eforms. We will still accept mail and faxed applications which can be found in the documents section of our website.
RAINTREE VILLAGE HOA WEBSITE WWW.RAINTREEVILLAGE.COM
We encourage you to visit our community website. The website includes a link to review current crime statistics for our community (www.crimereports.org) and pictures of Yard of the Month winners. As a fellow resident, you’ll have access to critical information regarding the HOA budget and annual meeting minutes. The aforementioned information can only be accessed by establishing a log-on user name and password. A request for an email address during the initial signup process will enable residents to receive alerts of upcoming events or critical notices. If you have any suggestions, please contact KPM Management Office at 281-685-3090.
TRASH PICKUP SERVICES
Royal Waste Management encourages residents to call in complaints regarding trash pickup. The crews are participating in a competition whereby the best crew receives a cash bonus at yearend. All complaints are taken seriously and posted internally for all crews to view. Additionally, the crew suffers deductions for each complaint. If you have a complaint regarding the trash service, contact Charles Gregory (Operations Manager) at 713-526-1536. Let’s be mindful that as residents, we must do our part by placing waste in trash bags. If you can’t lift the bag or trash receptacle it’s too full. You should consider breaking up your trash into more bags. We encourage you to remove all trash receptacles from curbside before you retire in the evenings. Additionally, the crew cannot pickup paint and other hazardous materials. You must take such items either to a Harris County or City of Houston hazardous waste dumpsite.
HARRIS COUNTY LEASH LAW
Animals that are not properly restrained pose a threat to all our residents. While you may know your pet is friendly, an animal running at someone who is walking by is very scary for that person. Many children are afraid of animals and become frightened, which could result in the child getting hurt trying to avoid the animal. Harris County Animal Control advises, “All dogs and cats must be kept under restraint while in the unincorporated areas of Harris County, Texas. The custodian of a dog or cat is not authorized to have, harbor or keep any unlicensed dog or cat, nor to allow any dog or cat to become a stray.” Restraint is defined as “the control of a dog or cat under the following circumstances:

When it is within a fully enclosed vehicle 3. When it is on the premise of the custodian and the animal does not have access to sidewalk or street.” While it may be nice to have your animal out in the yard while you work or play, it is against the law, unless the animal is properly restrained. Let’s all help keep our community a safe and comfortable place for all our residents by being responsible pet owners. This will not only protect anyone who may be walking or bicycling in the area, but also the pet owner who could be held legally responsible or possibly sued for failing to properly restrain their pet. while being cared for by one or both parents. In the time it takes you to run into the house to answer the phone, your child could drown - in as little as one inch of water. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that you not install swimming pools at all until your children are over 5 years of age. If you do have a pool, install a four-sided fence, about 5 feet high, with a self-closing latch that’s out of the reach of children. In open bodies of water and on boats, always use personal flotation devices, making sure that they fit properly. But floats and swimming lessons often give parents a false sense of security; they’re no replacement for supervision. At community pools, do not solely lean on the lifeguards to supervise your children. You are your child’s best safety net. Keep an eye on your children, learn CPR and keep a telephone with emergency numbers near the pool.
SUMMER MEANS SWIM TIME
Summer is almost here, which means pools will be opening for the summer. Please take time to review water safety with your children before they even enter the pool. Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children age 14 and under. Believe it or not, the majority of children who drown do so in residential swimming pools

LIVING WORD LUTHERAN CHURCH BRINGING THE STORY OF PALESTINE TO THE WORLD
Bright Stars of Bethlehem was born out of the dream and vision of Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb. In 1995, Rev. Raheb began an outreach ministry in Bethlehem, Palestine from the congregation he serves, Christmas Lutheran Church. As this ministry grew, it attracted the attention of several supporters in the United States. In 2003, Bright Stars of Bethlehem was incorporated “to support the health, education, cultural and spiritual development of the people of the Middle East in order to promote peace and harmony in the region.” Today, Bright Stars of Bethlehem has an ever-increasing network of supporters in the U.S., which impacts the lives of over 60,000 men, women and children in Palestine. Born and raised in Bethlehem, Palestine, Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb serves as the President of Bright Stars of Bethlehem. In February of 2012, he was awarded the prestigious German Media Prize award and is an internationally-acclaimed author and speaker. Rev. Raheb has been featured on many major international media outlets and networks including CNN, ABC, BBC, ARD, ZDF, DW, BR, Premiere, Raiuno, Stern, The Economist and Newsweek. He was a key subject of an April 2012 CBS News “60 Minutes” segment on Palestinian Christians. Described as “the most widely published Palestinian theologian,” Rev. Raheb has authored more than 16 books. He is skilled in more than seven languages and participates in theological dialogue, peace building and dream making throughout the world. Living Word Lutheran Church is pleased to host Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb as a guest speaker during their worship services on Sunday, June 2nd at 8, 9:30 and 11 AM. The Katy community is cordially invited to join us at this unique event. Living Word is located at 3700 S. Mason Road, Katy 77450.
