CONCORD BRIDGE POOL COMPLEX
POOL TAGS REQUIRED
There will be at least one of the pools open from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM every day, weather permitting beginning June 6th. You must have pool tags in order to use the pools. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS. Do not ask the lifeguards to allow you access for any reason. If you missed the onsite pool tag registration, you should complete the registration form and send it to Crest Management. The tags will be mailed to you. If you pick them up at Crest Management there will be a $10 charge. The lap pool will be used by the swim team prior to regular opening day and through the month of June. Only swim team members and family will be admitted to the lap pool during their practices. The lifeguards have the authority to eject unruly persons. The lifeguards always have the option to defer the problem to the Harris County Precinct 5 Deputies. If this occurs, it is possible that the person(s) could be banned from use of the pools the remainder of the pool season. A pool tag registration form and the pool hours are included in this wwissue of the Crier.
PLEASE, CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOGS! Please, for all the neighbors’ enjoyment of our beautiful community, please remove any “gifts” your dog leaves on private and/or common property.

A Town Hall Meeting was held Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 7:30 PM. Despite the rainy weather that day, we had a few interested residents attend. We always appreciate the participation at our meetings. Our new Board member, Jon Takacs and Liz Trapolino, our new property manager at Crest Management were introduced. Sgt. Hauer with the Harris County Precinct 5 Constables office was also present and gave a brief update on the neighborhood from their perspective.

Summer Activities
Would you like to see additional activities in our neighborhood? We would love to have things for our families, but without assistance it is not possible. There are five members on the Board of Directors and we all have full time jobs and/ or family commitments that take up most of our time. We are an unpaid voluntary Board with the interest of Concord Bridge at heart. If you have ideas for neighborhood activities, get volunteers to help and present your ideas to the Board. We will back legitimate activities to unite with our neighbors.

At entrances to the neighborhood, there are signs declaring deed restrictions are strictly enforced and when you purchased the home you were given a copy of the deed restrictions. SUMMER MEANS SWIM TIME Summer is almost here, which means pools will be opening for the summer. Please take time to review water safety with your children before they even enter the pool. Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children age 14 and under. Believe it or not, the majority of children who drown do so in residential swimming pools while being cared for by one or both parents. In the time it takes you to run into the house to answer the phone, your child could drown - in as little as one inch of water.
In open bodies of water and on boats, always use personal flotation devices, making sure that they fit properly. But floats and swimming lessons often give parents a false sense of security; they’re no replacement for supervision. At community pools, do not solely lean on the lifeguards to supervise your children. You are your child’s best safety net. Keep an eye on your children, learn CPR and keep a telephone with emergency numbers near the pool.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that you not install swimming pools at all until your children are over 5 years of age. If you do have a pool, install a foursided fence, about 5 feet high, with a self-closing latch that’s out of the reach of children. 7

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA COPPERHEAD DISTRICT For 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, outdoor skills and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives.

The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to: • Try new things. • Provide service to others. • Build self-confidence. • Reinforce ethical standards. Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as individuals while promoting activities that lead to personal responsibility and high self-esteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made, peer pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made. Scouting provides a rewarding experience for boys ages 5 to 21. Scouting through the local Packs and Troops teach outdoor and life skills which help our youth Be Prepared. Your area is serviced by the BSA Sam Houston Area Counsel - Copperhead District which includes 23 Cub Scout Packs (boys 5 to 10 years old), 13 Troops (boys from 11 to 18 years old) and 10 Venturing units (boys and girls from 14 to 21). “I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ? We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through June. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

that threatens man’s civilization and to remain free from its influence himself. As his investigations proceed, the events that follow change the course of all their lives - forever. Dawn King’s play won the 2011 Papatango New Writing Competition (in partnership with London’s Finborough Theatre). A darkly comic exploration of belief, desire and responsibility, set in a world both strange and familiar, from a striking new voice in British theatre. CARNIVAL ROUND THE CENTRAL FIGURE by Diana Amsterdam. Regional Premier - November 7-23, 2013. A wild ride through theatrical terrain that sears the senses and impacts the audience at a visceral place, which also manages to be hilariously funny and heartbreakingly real in the five core scenes of a young woman’s visit to the death bed of her friend. Her moment of acknowledgment and comfort comes hard in the face of denial, moralizing, insane positive thinking, desperate chit chat and the existential fears we all harbor about the end moments of life - the great mystery.

HOSTING A FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT IS EASIER THAN YOU MAY THINK
copperfielD family meDicine
During the 2013-2014 school year, students from all across the world will have the opportunity to travel to Houston and surrounding communities to spend the entire school year in the United States, learning and working with American Families.
Trey Hillert, M.D. Carlotta Hillert, M.D. Board Certified Specialists in Family Medicine
In order for the students to come to the U.S. they must have proper host families lined up. Now is a crucial time of year for the Ayusa program as local staff coordinators to find local host families for the upcoming school year.
All patients are treated by Board Certified Physicians, not by nurse practitioners or physician's assistants.
The Ayusa program is celebrating its 30th year this year and is responsible for more than 60,000 students from 75 different countries spending the school year in the United States. Hwy 6 N

There are a few basic requirements, of course. Anyone older than 25 and can provide food and shelter for a student fulfills the requirements of being a host family. There is a background check, reference check and an interview. Background checks have to be done on everyone over 18 living in the home.

The host families have to be interested in it for the right reasons, the cultural exchange of learning from them and them learning from us. It’s the language, the cooking, the music, the food. The host family has to be genuinely interested. Once the host families and students are matched, Ayusa stays involved by monthly contacts with the families, students and quarterly contacts with the schools. Ayusa coordinators also handle the host family orientations and the student orientations. Group activities, such as community service and seeing things with the group of exchange students is also arrange throughout their academic year. With the current school year quickly coming to an end Ayusa’s local staff is busy looking for families for students for the 2013-2014 school year. Many families are needed and with the schools having deadlines and limits for foreign exchange students the earlier the better. It also gives the families and students time to get to know each other via skype, facebook, etc. while waiting for their year abroad to start. Each year the four year olds through the eighth grade students at Texas Christian School become published authors! Students collaborated to write and illustrate their very own hardbound books. The students of Texas Christian School are celebrating the publication of their books in a big way. While writing their books, the students learned that hard work really does pays off and that writing is a lot of work. Students went through the entire process from first rough draft, many revisions and finally the publication process where they now own their very own book as the author. Texas Christian’s writing program is designed to motivate students to learn through publishing by enabling students to write, illustrate and publish full-color, hardbound books that they will enjoy for years. Texas Christian School is extremely proud of their student’s hard work and they look forward to many more books from their young authors.

CY-FALLS HIGH SCHOOL Red is an Australian Retriever Mix, his dog breed is very sociable and affectionate, a temperament displayed through its active and sunny disposition. Australian Retrievers are sturdy little fellows and even at a young age, they enjoy being a part of the family.
PET OF THE MONTH, RED The heat and sun were just too much. So, I broke the chain and hit the road. I stopped at the office supply store and went on in, but nobody seemed very excited to see me. Thankfully, a kind lady was passing by and offered me a ride. My medical exam, shots and heartworm treatment are behind me now with no lasting damage and I am looking for my real forever family. Call me a love bug – I adore humans in all shapes and sizes. I roll over for tummy rubs and want to snuggle on the couch for movie night. Other dogs are ok, but I would rather have my people close by. Cats are very interesting, and given my lineage, I do want to give chase. Things I love: long walks, rawhide chewies and lots of hugs. Hello Neighbors, a big happy end of the school year to each of you. This is SPAA (Students Protecting America’s Animals) again. FAREWELL SENIORS!....CYPRESS FALL HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR We have had an outstanding year!!! Newsweek magazine noted us as one of the best public high schools in the nation! Most effective in turning out college ready graduates. All of our choirs received “ones,” superior ratings, which no other high school choir has achieved this year. And all due to our fantastic students under the exceptional direction of Mrs. Deidre Douglas and Matt Perez. The choir banquet this year, held at Northwest Forrest Conference Center, was a huge success. Masquerade Ball was the theme on May 17th, as many adorned elaborate masks or displayed their own facial perfection! The students always shine so bright when they dress up. A huge thank you to Sandra Greer for organizing and decorating for the event. It was a magical evening as the exiting student choir board presented their successors; they will no doubt carry on in commanding 28
style. The power point presentation of past events and happenings is always a delight, as the students recall fond times throughout their training, performing and enjoyment. May 24th found the school taking over as the all choir lock-in took place. The games they come up with are such a blast and statue is always a favorite. Food consumed by the pound and fun exploding through the evening. Thanks to all who participated, as it all occurs because of you! Schlitterbahn was high school city on the 25th as our students and chaperones, along with some other schools, took over the water city. The cool waters are always so refreshing and the technology of the water runs/coasters is always amazing and enjoyed. Who can go wrong with fun AND sun? It was a quite ride home and no doubt, there were heavy sleepers that night!
