FROM YOUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS…..

Welcome back to school! Please be mindful of all our precious children as you drive through the neighborhood! We have lots of young kids and we want everyone to be safe. Please obey all stop signs and speed limit signs as well as school zone times. DRIVE SAFELY…WE LOVE OUR CHILDREN! RealManage is utilizing email and other technology to keep residents informed and to give them access to their homeowners account. If you have not set up your account, please do so. We are actively and aggressively pursuing delinquent accounts and deed restriction violations with RealManage and the attorney. If you have a balance due, please remit these fees ASAP… these fees are required and necessary to maintain all the amenities, facilities and services within the community. If you have an unresolved deed restriction violation, please take the necessary steps to avoid having your account turned over to the attorney and incurring late and/or attorney fees. If you have a special situation, please contact RealManage for assistance.

DEED RESTRICTION REMINDERS

Homeowners and renters are responsible for maintaining their yards and homes. RealManage is performing drive-through inspections twice a month and sending violation notices to residents. PLEASE do what is necessary to repair/maintain your property and help keep Sundown Glen a great community to live in. • Fence Repairs: the Sundown Glen Homeowners Board is NOT

responsible for any fence in the neighborhood. If you have a rotting fence, pickets missing or the fence is broken and leaning, it should be repaired immediately. Please inspect your fences and make necessary repairs. • Front Lawn: Many yards in Sundown Glen are very brown. Our grass needs water just as our pets and plants. Please water your yard as necessary to keep it green. If your yard has exposed tree roots and/or no grass, you need to replace the dirt and re-sod the yard and bring your yard into compliance. • Yard Maintenance includes mowing, edging drives/sidewalks/ curbs, weeding flower beds and expansion joints and trimming shrubs. If you have a flowerbed that doesn’t have anything planted in it, you should replant and keep this area weed-free. If you have a tree that is hanging into the street or low over the sidewalk, it should be pruned. Trees should be pruned at least 8 feet above sidewalks and out of the main roadway. Dead trees and shrubs should be removed from property and replaced and palm trees should be trimmed regularly to remove dead fronds. NOTE… grass clippings and leaves should NOT be blown into the street or thrown down our sewer gutters. Please bag all yard debris and dispose of properly. • Home Maintenance: The heat and sun take a toll on the wood portions of our homes. If you have any wood that is rotting or has faded/cracked paint, please perform necessary work to keep your home in compliance with deed restrictions. If you have algae stains on bricks or siding, they can be removed by scrubbing with a solution of 3 parts white vinegar to 7 parts water and then rinse thoroughly with water. • Prohibited Vehicles: Commercial vehicles and 18-wheelers are not allowed to be parked in the neighborhood overnight.

GOT TRASH?

Trash pickup days are Tuesday and Friday every week. We would like to remind all of our subdivision residents that your trash (cans) should only be visible on these days. Trash left out for days has a tendency to be blown all over the neighborhood and can be a real eyesore. Thank you for helping keep our neighborhood clean.

NOTICE TO PET OWNERS

We love our community and so should you! Besides being a nuisance, uncollected dog waste is a serious problem for our Association. Next time you’re tempted to leave your dog’s droppings on the lawn, please remember these facts: • The Environmental Protection Agency is becoming aggressive about enforcing the Clean Water Act. Our Association could be fined if dog waste goes uncollected. • Uncollected dog waste may lead to a special assessment. If fined by the EPA, the Association could face a potential special assessment that would be levied against all members - not just dog owners. • The appearance and quality of the common areas are known to affect home sales - not just for how much they sell, but how quickly. • The more residents complain about dog waste, the more time the manager must spend on enforcement rather than serving the Association. • Uncollected dog waste spreads disease and attracts rodents who feed on pet waste.

We love dogs - we really do. That’s why the association is committed to enforcing the county leash law on association property. According to the U.S. Humane Society, an unleashed dog has an average life span of less than four years. Allowing your dog to run free threatens your dog’s health and welfare and the happiness it brings to you.

SCHOOL NEWS KATY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT WWW.KATYISD.ORG September 2nd - Labor Day - Student/Staff Holiday

BOARD APPROVES CONCEPTUAL DESIGN FOR PROPOSED SECOND STADIUM

During its regular July meeting, the Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved the conceptual design for the proposed second stadium. The stadium project is one of three projects being considered for the District’s Student Activities Facilities referendum this fall. Members of the community, as well as Katy ISD end users and support staff attended a two-day design workshop held on June 26th - 27th and developed the conceptual design presented at the July 15th Board Work Study meeting. The second stadium would support student growth and success with additional athletic and fine arts support facilities at the secondary level within the District. PBK Architects were deemed best qualified for the stadium project, having successfully completed numerous stadium projects across the state, including multiple projects at the Rhodes stadium complex. Two other architectural firms have been selected for the STEM Center and Agricultural Sciences Center that are also components of the Student Activities Facility Proposal. For more information on the proposed second stadium, visit the Katy ISD website.

During its regular July Board Meeting, the Katy ISD Board of Trustees named David Kendler as the new Area 3 Assistant Superintendent. Kendler is currently the principal at Taylor High School. David Kendler began his educational career in 1986 as a high school basketball coach at West Mesa High School. His experience includes serving as principal at Paul Revere High School and Sharpstown High School in Houston ISD. He has been in his current role as principal of Taylor High School since 2007. REMODELING

Katy Independent School District announced its policy for providing free and reduced price meals for children eligible under the federal income guidelines for the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program. A copy of the policy may be viewed at www.squaremeals.com. Children living in households with incomes at or below the federally approved levels, based on household size, may be eligible for free or reduced price school meals. Transfer students approved for the program from another school district may either complete a Katy ISD application or provide documentation of their eligibility status. Foster children who are the legal responsibility of a welfare agency or court may also be eligible for benefits regardless of the income of the household with whom they reside. The Nutrition and Food Service Department encourages parents in all eligible households to complete an online application prior to the start of school. The online application can be found at the district website at www.katyisd.org. A Free and Reduced meal application form and an information letter was also distributed in the student’s first day packet. A paper application will not need to be completed if you submitted the application online. If your child was on the program at the end of the previous school year, they were eligible for the same benefit for the first 30 operating days of the new school year or until a new application is processed. A new application is required each school year. The Nutrition and Food Service Department is located at 5364 Franz Rd, Katy, TX 77493. Staff is available Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 2:30 PM to assist parents in completing the application. Bring the names of all members of the household and their Gross Monthly Income. For any questions, call the Katy ISD Nutrition Department office at 281-396-6240. Applications are available online, at any district school and at the food service office. Applications may be submitted any time during the school year starting in August 2013. The information households provide on the application will be used for the purpose of determining meal eligibility. Application information may be verified by school officials at any time during the school year.

In May, Girl Scouts Anusri Shah, Rebecca Clark and Veronica Miko earned the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can earn, the Silver award. The trio of 7th graders accrued more than 60 hours supporting Katy’s Krause Center with various projects and events. They organized and led an Art Workshop for younger Girl Scouts, culminating in a large canvas to be displayed at the Krause Center. Using their creative energies, the Cadettes designed inspirational posters and assembled fleece pillows for the residents there. They also hosted a flip-flop decorating workshop at the Krause Center with more than 40 residents. Each of these girls is continuing on with Girl Scouting and plans to earn the highest honor, the Gold Award.

It’s that time once more when the members of the Katy, TX based Bayou Belles Charity Service Organization, Inc. are tirelessly working to organize our Fourth Annual Charity Gala scheduled for October 12, 2013. The theme this year will be “ALL THAT GLITTERS ISN’T GOLD” benefiting Pediatric Cancer Victims. The venue (TBA). Our organization will be partnering with Texas Children’s Pediatric Cancer Center to select local families who are struggling with the expenses of having a very sick child. This heartfelt fundraiser will include an elegant dinner, cocktails, dancing and silent auction. This fundraiser is being dedicated to, but in NO way benefit: In Loving Memory of Jerald Paul Auzenne, Sr. As you may recall, BBCSO, Inc. is a (non-profit 501c3) and is “Grass Roots” in nature. There are no salaries to tend with. Each and every member volunteer 100% their time. Being the founder of this community service organization, I am proud to say that I have currently donated over 7,000 hours of service between 2008 - 2013 to the benefit of various small, local and child-focused non-profits such as Texas EquuSearch, The Diaper Foundation, JoeJoe Bears Foundation, Katy Christian Ministries, The Amobi Okoye Foundation and The Krause Children’s Center. It is with humble hearts that we approach you once more requesting your continued support of our work via one or more of the following options: > May we plan on you attending this semi-formal event and your purchasing (2) $60 tickets? > May we count on you to volunteer (1 Hour), (2 Hours), (3 Hours) the day of this charity event? > Would you like to make a tax deductible donation directly towards the selected families? email: Angeline at CenterraRanchMontessori@yahoo.com.
