DIRECTIONS: In a large bowl, combine egg yolks, 2 cups sugar and rum. Mix well, cover and refrigerate for 24 hours. Stir half-and-half into cooled yolk mixture. In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form; set aside. In a separate clean bowl, with a clean whisk, whip egg whites until thick, then gradually add sugar and whip until peaks form. DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour three 7x3 inch loaf pans. In a large bowl, mix together pumpkin puree, eggs, oil, vanilla, water and sugar until well blended. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger. Stir the dry ingredients into the pumpkin mixture until just blended. Pour into the prepared pans. Bake for about 50 minutes in the preheated oven. Loaves are done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. INGREDIENTS: 1 cup white sugar 5 cups hot water 10 cups pecan halves 2/3 cup white sugar 5 tablespoons chili powder 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper

DIRECTIONS: Stir 1 cup sugar into the hot water in a large bowl until the sugar is completely dissolved. Soak the pecans in the water for 1 hour; drain. Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line two 9x13 inch baking dishes with parchment paper. Sift the 2/3 cup sugar, chili powder, and cayenne pepper together in a separate large bowl; add the pecans and toss to coat evenly. Spread the coated pecans in a single layer into the prepared dishes. Bake in the preheated oven until the coating on the pecans is bubbly, stirring once, 10 to 15 minutes. A boys varsity basketball tournament including the 10 CFISD boys varsity teams and 14 out of district teams. Messiah Lutheran Church is hosting “A Night in Bethlehem” on Saturday and Sunday evenings, December 7th and 8th, 5-8 PM. The event is free, Messiah’s gift to the community. Messiah’s Night in Bethlehem is an outdoor, interactive event where individuals and families are invited to stroll through Bethlehem at their own pace, visiting with the citizens of Bethlehem. There are opportunities to pet the sheep and meet the village craftsmen, even say hi to BC the camel from the East, and of course, see the Baby Jesus and His family in the stable. • On Saturday, December 7th, the church will present a “live” Nativity Scene from 6 to 8 PM. At both the 8:30 and 10:45 AM services, the Chancel Chimes will be performing their Christmas music. At the 9:30 AM worship service, the Journey Praise Band will be leading worship with celebrative music. At all three services, Dr. Dave Meadows will be bringing an inspiring Advent message. • On Sunday, December 22nd, the Cornerstone Chancel Choir, accompanied by an orchestra, will be presenting a special Christmas music program entitled “Heaven’s Child” at both the 8:30 and the 10:45 AM services. At the 9:30 AM service, led by Journey Praise, the message will be a special “Advent-themed Readers Theater.” • On Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24th, Cornerstone will offer three worship opportunities: 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, there will be the Family Christmas Service. In addition to the singing of carols and Communion, children will be invited to the front of the church to hear the Christ Story and receive a special “Christmas” gift from the church. At 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM, there will be a traditional “Candlelight and Communion” service. It will include the retelling of the “Birth of Christ” through Scripture readings and hymns. All three services will include a “Candle Lighting Ceremony” with everyone lighting candles during the singing of “Silent Night.”
