A NOTE FROM THE CONSTABLES

1. The Vacation Watch form is now available online on our website in the left column. From this page (www.harriscountytx.gov/ vacationwatch/vacation.aspx?constid=5) you can fill in the form and submit it. The submitted form will be emailed to dispatch for distribution. 2. The Special Watch form is now available online on our website in the left column. From this page (www.harriscountytx.gov/alertnotification/ alertnotification.aspx?id=5) you can fill in the form and submit it. The submitted form will be emailed to dispatch for distribution. 3. A new page named Online Crime Tips (www.harriscountytx.gov/ pct5/onlinecrimetips.aspx) is now available. Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s office is proud to announce their new website. Residents are encouraged to access www. constablepct5.com, which went live as of February 27, 2015. The website is designed to provide the user with information about the command staff, the various divisions within the Precinct 5 Constable’s jurisdiction and various programs the office offers to the public. • The Precinct will be offering Crime Alerts as a way to quickly let citizens know what is going on in their area. One you sign up on the website, a person will received a text message or an email when important events are taking place in the district. These alerts will only contain relevant information and a person may unsubscribe at any time. • The Precinct will also be offering a Citizens Police Academy. For 2 -1/2 per week over a 9 week period, instructors will show the participant various aspect of being a police officer. Many of the classes will include hands on participation and are available to anyone 21 and up and the application is available on the website. Class size is very limited. A brief video concerning this program can be viewed on www.youtube.com/watch?v+y iuleyWHWs. • The Precinct will be offering Operation Safe Child. Precinct 5 has 2 certified child safety technicians who are partnering with Texas

Cimarron

$$$$

281-829-9900

Children’s’ Hospital to demonstrate the proper usage and installation of car seats. These technicians are current on all styles, brands, recalls and the proper way to secure your child based on height, weight and age. The sessions are quarterly and a person can actually bring their car seat and child for a demonstration. A person can also request these outings to be held in the neighborhood. If you have a monitored alarm, make sure it is calling the Constables Dispatch number.

ATTENTION!

Please be careful and slow down while driving through the subdivision; remind your young drivers to do also. Please, be aware of your surroundings and parents, remind your children to watch for vehicles when crossing the street.

PARKED CARS

Please park your vehicles in your garage or at least in your driveway, if at all possible. Please be considerate of your neighbors and the fire trucks on your street. If you must park on the street, be considerate of the neighbor across the street, who must back from a driveway in order to enter the street. As our area has grown, so has the number of vehicles in the subdivision. Most seem to have more than one car per family and some have even more, as the children become driving age. Please try to be considerate of others who try to navigate between the cars that are left on the street. Children darting into the street or riding bicycles are more easily seen with less parked cars blocking the view of them. Thank you for your cooperation.

CRIME PATROL

Would you please consider volunteering a couple hours a month with the Cimarron Crime Patrol. As always, we NEED YOUR SUPPORT. Please call Austin Properties @ 713-776-1771.

2015 FOOD FOR FAMILIES CAMPAIGN RAISES $26,000 FOR KATY ISD FAMILIES

Katy ISD Partners in Education is celebrating another successful Food for Families campaign, the District’s annual community initiative that supports families in need. Principals from every campus identify students and $50 grocery gift cards are given to those students’ families before the winter break. Initially conceived as a way for Katy ISD employees at the administration building to help students and their families, Food for Families has burgeoned into a communitywide initiative that is now primarily supported by individual, private contributions. And for the first time, local eateries donated a portion of their proceeds during the inaugural “Food for Families Restaurant Week,” ultimately helping to provide gift cards for 40 families. Food for Families, a Katy ISD Partners in Education yearly initiative, unites our Katy ISD staff and community in holiday support for select students and their families. To learn more, visit Partners in Education under the “Community” tab at www.katyisd.org or contact Tammy Stringer, 281-396-2645, tammyrstringer@katyisd.org.

BP LEADS AS KATY ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION CORNERSTONE INVESTOR

The Katy ISD Education Foundation is pleased to announce that BP America, Inc. has returned for its second year as a Foundation Cornerstone Investor by contributing $50,000 for STEM related teacher grants. The BP STEM Grant Program is administered via the Foundation’s Inspiring Imagination teacher grant initiative for grants in place this school year. STEM is the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and represents the integration of science and mathematics into existing areas of study. “We are grateful for our alliance with BP America, Inc. and welcome its continued support,” said Ken Janda, Katy ISD Education Foundation Board President. “Our BP STEM Grant Program has already benefitted hundreds of Katy ISD teachers. This second BP contribution will reach even farther, providing teachers with countless opportunities to bring extraordinary classroom experiences to their students.”

“What’s wrong with this picture?” is the playful theme and question attached to each show in Houston Family Arts Center’s (HFAC) 2015-2016 season. The first half of the season as follows: March 11th-April 3rd: “Harvey” What do you get when you mix a polite and friendly man with a strange, six-foot-tall, invisible rabbit named Harvey? A sister who wants to commit her brother, but gets committed herself and a town comically turned upside down on the search for a mild-mannered hero and his invisible friend. All performances are on the HFAC Garza Mainstage, recently named “Houston’s Best Gem of a Theatre” by the Houston Press, except for Peter Pan, which will be performed at the Berry Center.
