Do you have dead trees and plants in your yard due to drought damage? These dead plants and trees must be removed. Dead trees are hazardous in high winds; even the normal rain storms that are common in the Houston area can cause trees to fall. Please make arrangements now to restore your lawns and remove dead plants.

When you purchased a home in Concord Bridge you automatically became a member of the Concord Bridge Homeowner’s Association. You cannot resign from the association because it is a requirement of ownership in Concord Bridge. At closing, you should have been given a copy of the deed restrictions affecting your home. However, if you need a copy, please call Crest Management at 281-579-0761 and ask for a copy of the deed restrictions. As a member, you are required to pay the association’s dues and maintain your home in a manner set out in the deed restrictions. The initial deed restrictions were created and filed by the developer and the HOA Board of Directors has agreed to responsibly handle the business associated with keeping things working and in order.
There have been numerous reports of coyotes in the neighborhood. Small animals have been killed or mauled by these wild animals. They began this migration into the neighborhood during the drought, but now it is an easy “hunting ground for them. It’s advisable not to leave your pets alone outside, especially overnight. This invasion also increases the danger of rabies and other communicable animal diseases. If you missed the Mobile Vet visit in the neighborhood, you can look at their website to see what other locations might be close by. It is not only common sense that dictates this action, but there is also a law mandating that your pets are vaccinated against rabies.
gaRage Sale DateS Future garage sales in 2012 are June 2nd and October 6th. Garage sales conducted at times other than these approved dates are subject to fines.

Your Board members are elected by you each year. The Board members are all volunteers and do not receive compensation for their HOA activities. There are five Board members serving two-year terms. Two are elected one year and the other three in the following year. We are required by our bylaws to have a minimum of 10% or 161 homeowners represented at the meeting in order to have a quorum. Your representation can be in person or by proxy. You are sent a notice of the annual meeting with a proxy enclosed. You can sign the proxy, vote for the candidates listed, assign your vote to another homeowner or just have it count as a proxy to reach our 10%. But it must be returned or given to a Board member or a friend that will be attending the meeting.

It is difficult to find 161 homeowners that have enough interest in this process to attend the meeting or return their proxy. As a result, we did not have a quorum at our November meeting. Each time we have a meeting for elections, we pay for Crest Management to attend and conduct the election in order to comply with state laws. In the past, the board of directors could appoint the candidate if there was no opponent for the position(s) and a quorum was not obtained. State laws effective September 1, 2011 now mandate that a quorum must be reached and votes tallied. We must keep having meetings until we reach a quorum. This adds to the expenses that we must pay. Our fees provide for the maintenance of the perimeter fence, landscaping in all three parks and the medians on W. Little York, entrances to the neighborhood and cul-de-sacs. We have to maintain the two pools and provide lifeguards for the swim season. The park equipment must be maintained and/or repaired as needed for safety. Repairs to all of these areas can be costly especially when they are abused or destroyed by someone. When you receive your meeting notice and proxy for the next election, put it on your calendar and attend. If you are unable to attend, please date and sign the proxy and return it.

Would like to see additional activities in our neighborhood? We would love to have things for our families, but without assistance it is not possible. There are five members on the board of directors and we all have full time jobs and/or family commitments that take up most of our time. We are an unpaid voluntary board with the interest of Concord bridge at heart. If you have ideas for neighborhood activities, get volunteers to help and present your ideas to the board. We will back legitimate activities to unite with our neighbors. The pool will open on Saturday, May 26th at 10:00 AM. Pool tags will be available on site at a time to be announced. Watch the Crier and the marquees for date and time.

Please remember, this is a legal document in place to protect the value of your home.

Matthew Perez, student teacher.
CYPRESS FALLS HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR The pop show PIZAZZ on February 24th and 25th was a huge success! Musical numbers from Grease, Sister Act, Newsies, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?, Hairspray and High School Musical filled the stage for a truly entertaining evening. Performances were polished, sets were vibrant, costumes clever and our students dazzled us with their lively spirit. The Varsity Men’s and Women’s choirs, along with Acapella and Chamber choirs were melded together fantastically and masterfully in two weeks for an event that left you feeling happy and wanting more. Great job to all the behind the scene helpers, the baking parents, the costume making mom’s and our amazing choir directors! You pulled off yet another smashing, scene stealing show! BRAVO! We would like to thank our student teacher that has been a wonderful part time addition to the teaching and directing of our choirs. Mr. Matthew Perez joined our team in partial fulfillment of his degree plan. While working with our students, he gained respect and admiration that will be carried with him as he continues his musical journey. His time at Cy-Falls will no doubt enhance his future career and his presence will be missed.

NATIONAL STUDY OF EDUCATION FOUNDATIONS TOP 20 IN THE NATION IN SUPPORTING PUBLIC EDUCATION CY-FAIR EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION RANKS NUMBER 15
713-932-7290
A recent national study of education foundations and funds in the 50 largest school districts ranks the Top 20 education foundations/ funds in the nation is supporting public education. Duplicating the same study done in 2005, this year’s study used school year 2009-2010 data (most recent year available) from the Form 990 (page one) that non-profits use to report financial information. It also assessed and compared most of the same performance categories as the 2005 study. First, the study analyzes the effectiveness of an education fund/ foundation at generating and sustaining financial resources to serve the students of its school district. “The rationale is that the more financial resources a foundation can generate the more services and programs it can provide to enhance the public school experience for students, said Dewey Caruthers, president of Dewey & Associates, a 13-year-old management consulting firm that conducts occasional studies in education, juvenile justice and public health. Second, the study assessed the effectiveness of distributing financial resources, taking into consideration the number of students in its school district. “We wanted to see the amounts of financial resources these organizations distributed through programs to help students, Caruthers said.

A new topic added to this recent study was the role of volunteers. “The ability to grow and sustain large numbers of volunteers is an asset for a foundation, which can be leveraged many different ways to improve public schools, Caruthers said. Specifically, the recent study compared the following variables: - Long-term financial sustainability (total assets, assets per student, investment income) - Fundraising/revenues (total revenues and revenues per student) - Program expenditures (total program expenses and program expenses per student – both less salaries and benefits) - Volunteers (total volunteers) The overall Top 20 was the collective scoring of all eight performance categories. The foundations that appeared in the Top 20 in the most categories were ranked highest, emphasizing the importance of being well-rounded.
H-E-B SITE VISIT FOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AWARD H-E-B site judges visited CFISD as a finalist for the 2012 H-E-B Excellence in Education award. This recognition is designed to honor outstanding public schools. The award will be announced in May and the winning district will receive $100,000. In addition to visiting two campuses, Cy-Fair High School and Cypress Lakes High School, the judges met with a group representing community members, business partners, volunteers, parents, teachers and students. One of the district’s strengths is its broad base of community support. Those in attendance articulated their confidence in the district in providing a quality education, which has become a longstanding tradition and hallmark of the Cy-Fair community.

Our guests witnessed a diverse student population that was engaged in a well-balanced curriculum that includes core subjects, technology, electives and extracurricular activities. Very aware that CFISD is the third largest district in Texas and the largest “Recognized” district, the judges saw first-hand how a community pulls together and works with dedicated staff members to ensure student success in a climate of financial challenges. The award announcement is important, but more impressive is the ownership those of us who live and work in Cy-Fair take in our school district. This is what sets us apart from other districts.
All patients are treated by Board Certified Physicians, not by nurse practitioners or physician's assistants.

BOY SCOUTS
BOY SCOUT TrOOp 10
BOY SCOUT TrOOp 3 Boys, are you yearning for exciting outdoor programs that stir your imagination and interest? How about camping, fishing, canoeing, hiking, backpacking and off-road biking? Do you want to learn wilderness survival, cooking, first aid orienteering and shooting skills? Scouting is Fun… with a Purpose – where boys grow into men instilled with values of duty to God and Country, community service, citizenship, leadership and self-confidence. Troop 3 is a boy-lead troop, where the boys plan an exciting year-round outdoor program. We camp monthly and include rock climbing, backpacking and an upcoming canoe trip. Troop 3 is currently planning the weeklong summer camp where scouts can hone their scout skills. We welcome all young men, 11-18 years old to visit Boy Scout Troop 3 at 7:00 PM Monday nights at Cornerstone United Methodist Church on Ridge Park in Copperfield. No previous scouting experience needed! Come see for yourself what Boy Scouts has to offer and visit with the Scouts to learn more about our troop. Please visit our website www.houstontroop3.com for more information.
Boy Scout Troop 10 meets every Tuesday night during the school year at the West Houston Church of Christ on West Road and Queenston. Our meetings begin at 7 PM. We spend our time working on merit badges, planning for our monthly camp outs and having fun!! The older boys had a great time camping at Pedernales State Park last month. They were able to hike, Geocache and work on several outdoor skills. The new Pedro Scouts also camped at Bear Creek Park. This was their introductory camp out that helped prepare them for the longer camp outs to come. We finished out the month with our 1st Annual Red and Tan Banquet! The boys participated in a table-decorating contest, won door prizes and ate delicious BBQ provided by Weatherly Catering! After the banquet we switched gears and began our semi-annual Court of Honor. The boys and parents were very proud as we watched several of them advance in rank. If you have a son in the 6th grade or higher that would like to join in the fun and adventure please contact us. Our Scout Master is Michael Widaski and his number is 713-376 5166. You can also contact our Committee Chairperson, Joseph Jefferson, at 281-684-5197 or check our website at www.bsat10.com.

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ? We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through APRIL. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

We are encouraging everyone across the state of Texas to wear purple on Friday, April 13th, as a visible way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. The oral presentation must be not less than 3 minutes and no more than 5 minutes in length, spoken in English and recorded on the media specified on the application form, with no background noise or enhancements. The essay cannot contain the student’s name, city, state, grade level or refer to their nationality. Entries must be received no later than midnight Nov. 1, 2012. Conducted Nationwide, this VFW sponsored youth essay competition gives 6th, 7th and 8th graders an opportunity to write 300-400 word essays expressing their views on democracy with the prospect of awards for future educational endeavors. We invite you to join the more than 120,000 students who participated last year in this contest. Cornerstone UMC reCeives BsA AwArd
On Sunday morning, February 12th at the 10:45 AM service, Mr. Hugh Corpening, the District Committee Chairperson for the Copperhead District of Boy Scouts of America, presented to Dr. Dave Meadows, senior pastor at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, the Copperhead District Chartered Partner Award for 2011. The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and develops personal fitness. For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible and productive society. Cornerstone UMC, with campuses at 15919 Ridge Park Dr. and 18081 West Road in northwest Houston, currently sponsors onetenth of the Scouting units in the Copperhead District. For 15 years, Cornerstone has sponsored Troop 3 and for 10 years the church has sponsored Troop 1296. In 2008, Crew 396 was founded to serve the older youth of both of these troops as well as the high school age young women in the northwest Houston community of Copperfield. This year, Pack 833 and Troop 421 also needed sponsors. Once again, Cornerstone stepped in to fill that need. Cornerstone UMC believes that Scouting with its emphasis as expressed in “The Scout Oathâ€? to â€œâ€Śdo my duty to God and County‌to help other people at all times‌to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straightâ€? is certainly consistent with the Christian faith. For more information about Cornerstone United Methodist Church of Houston, please visit their website at www.cornerstoneumc.org.
