What Clients are saying about David Flory Team! Professional Group 832-478-1205 When selling a home there are many challenges to be addressed that can affect the marketability of the home. David Flory and his team were great partners to include extra information about local home sales, marketing, competition and appeal. In a depressed market this knowledge is important for the seller. Constant communication during our home selling experience made us feel like we were the only customer, instead of just another MLS listing. Thanks to all of the team. - Mike and Sharon Mullins -

CYPRESS FALLS KEY CLUB WINS HONORS AT 2012 DISTRICT CONVENTION

From April 12th to 15th, the Cypress Falls Key Club traveled to Dallas to attend the annual Texas-Oklahoma District Convention. Each year, over one thousand Key Club members from the two states learn to become valuable leaders, earn awards for their service to their communities and celebrate a year of successes. This year, the Cypress Falls Key Club earned many honors. Based on monthly reports that reflect the club’s performance, it ranked as the fifth Key Club in the entire Texas-Oklahoma district. The Cypress Falls volunteers also earned a variety of other awards. Cypress Falls won the first place award and a patch for the District Project. Roshni Chandwani, former Vice President and future President, won third place in Original Oratory. Their website, www.cfallskeyclub.webs.com, earned a Distinguished Website Patch. The Cypress Falls Key Club also won the Governor’s Project Patch and UNICEF’s ELIMINATE Patch. In addition, two of the Cypress Falls Key Club officers from the 2011-2012 school year will go on to serve district positions during the upcoming school year. Carolina Hernandez, the school Key Club’s former president, was appointed to be the 3N Lieutenant Governor. Next year, Hernandez will preside over the Key Clubs in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and Katy ISD. Kevin Duong, the secretary from the 20112012 school year, was elected as the Texas-Oklahoma District Secretary of Key Club International. Duong will preside over the three hundred clubs and seventeen thousand members throughout the Texas-Oklahoma district to manage monthly reports and records. The Cypress Falls Key Club definitely appreciated the honors it received at the District Convention this year. “I am so proud of all of our clubs,” said the organization’s sponsor, Kathie Kiklas. “Although we all compete against each other, we cheer each on knowing how much it takes to make the top 25. Congratulations to each and every Key Clubber.”

Though the club won big at DCON, it’s members have been able to keep their eye on the real prize - making an impact on their community. Just recently, the Cypress Falls Key Club teamed up with other local Key Clubs to hold a Kiwanis Bake Sale. All proceeds went toward Eliminate, an organization that works to stop neonatal tetanus. The Cypress Falls Key Club is looking for even more events where they can lend a helping hand. If your organization is in need of devoted volunteers, be sure to contact the Cypress Falls Key Club.

CYPRESS FALLS HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR

What a great year! From the ice cream social, pj party, men’s bbq, spaghetti dinner and auction, concerts, appearances, parties, to the fundraising, banquet and everything in between: It’s been fantastic! Thank you to everyone for helping our choir men and women have a year full of memories that will last a lifetime. The Spring Trip to Dallas was a load of fun - supporting the jousting men of the sections at Medieval Times, dining at Hard Rock Cafe and playing at Fiesta Texas was enjoyment for all. The chaperones and the students came home equally happy and exhausted! A round of applause for all involved in carrying out such a huge event so successfully! Our graduating seniors are thrilled to continue on their journey, their presence will surely be missed. They were recognized in the most harmonious of ways at the Spring concert. We would like to take this moment to wish them great encouragement on their future accomplishments as we note them by name: Kortland Allen, Jordan Ashworth, Jake Bracher, Madison Burt, Jake Hermida, Cameron Hussey, Kendrea Johnson, Kayley Jones, Eleni Kotzabassis, Elizabeth Lopez, Issiah Miles, James Nguyen, Amanda Sheriff, Kari Sterner and Taylor White. Along with the students graduating, their supportive parents will leave our fold with them. The executive board will be losing some very dedicated and loving parents as well. We recognize Marcely Burt and Debbie Mandola, along with long time executive board members, Heidi and Warren Hussey. You have been the backbone of the choir’s extracurricular activities and Ms. Douglas’s right hand. Your countless dedicated hours of your many selfless efforts will forever be seen in the continued success of our choir students. You have loved and been loved and we hope you will carry that love with you and remember your time at Cy-Falls with fondness. Thank you seems so inadequate, but it is said with full, heavy, grateful, heartfelt and warmth. Thank you. Our men’s choir had a command performance for the CFISD Executive Board. They sang in front of the board and resounded beautifully as they presented a sample of their vocal excellence that was enjoyed at TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association). Congratulations to this honors choir for a job well done.

CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT WWW.CFISD.NET IMPORTANT DATES July 4th – Student/Staff Holiday

CFEF EARNS SPOT ON TOP 20 NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS LIST A recent study conducted by Dewey and Associates looked at the 50 largest school districts in the nation to determine which of the districts’ Educational Foundations were doing the best job of supporting education. Cy-Fair Educational Foundation made the list, coming in at number 15 in the nation!

CFISD RECEIVES H-E-B EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AWARD Cypress-Fairbanks ISD was named the large district winner during the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony honoring outstanding public schools. Recognized for outstanding commitment to student achievement, parental and community involvement and professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators, CFISD was chosen for the award among five large district finalists and earned a $100,000 cash award. “I’m fortunate to be a part of a district with a lot of special people who make a large school system feel like a tight-knit community,” said Dr. Mark Henry, superintendent of schools. “It’s gratifying to accept an award that recognizes the positive impact of public education in Texas.” During the ceremony, Hamilton Elementary School principal Dr. Catherine Bartlett was chosen among 10 finalists as the winner for the statewide Principal Award, honoring the top campus leaders

12

and achievers in the state. Bartlett, who was selected as a finalist for the award in March, received a $10,000 cash prize and a $25,000 grant for Hamilton Elementary. “It is an honor to receive the H-E-B Excellence in Education award. I am so proud of our Hamilton staff and students and I love having this opportunity to brag on them a little more,” said Bartlett. “Next week we will begin gathering student ideas for the use of our school’s prize money. I love visiting with the children and working with them to make Hamilton the best school it can be.” H-E-B launched the Excellence in Education awards program in 2002 in cooperation with the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) as a positive way to support public education in Texas. In its 11 years, the program has generated more than $5.5 million to educators, schools and districts across the state. More than 4,000 nominations were submitted at the beginning of the year for the award, which resulted in 800 completed applications submitted by nominees that were reviewed by judges from the Colleges of Education at Trinity University and Texas State University. Judges narrowed the field to 148 teachers, 47 principals, 19 early childhood facilities and 25 school districts, which competed in the regional judging process in February. Five regional judging panels comprised of former winners, administrators and university and community leaders selected the 40 individual statewide finalists, while the district finalists were selected by separate judging panels that reviewed their written applications and conducted individual site visits. All finalists were invited to Houston for the awards celebration and special reception in their honor. During their stay, the teachers and principals participated in personal interviews with the statewide judging panel to determine a winner.

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ? We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through June. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

An incisive look at sex, love, bullfights, big-game hunting and intimate apparel. large animal games takes a skewed but razor-sharp look at relationships by examining the romantic lives of several couples and the man who supplies each of them with intimate apparel. museum of dysfunction, august 9-18, 2012, STUDIO 101 (1824 Spring Street, Houston 77007). Kimberly aKimbo, By David Lindsay-Abaire, Directed by Ron Jones, november 29-december 15, 2012, STUDIO 101 (1824 Spring Street, Houston 77007). Kimberly Akimbo is a play written in 2000 by Pulitzer prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire. Its title character is a lonely teenage girl suffering from a disease a lot like progeria, that causes her to age 4 and a half times as fast as normal. Thus, Kimberly is trapped inside the frail physical body of an elderly woman. She meets another misfit (a teenage boy) and the two form an attachment to one another that borders on attraction. The situation is not helped by Kimberly’s rapidly deteriorating health. Soon Kimberly’s family gets mixed up in some crazy money schemes and the family gets emotionally destroyed.

Artistic Director David Rainey will direct and the cast includes Jennifer Gilbert, Zachary Lewis and Chuck Hutchison. The production also features Lighting Design by Riana Canetti-Rios and Sound Design by Travis Ammons. A young couple, Nick and Colby, have all the expectations that most of us dream of about our child to be. But what they have achieved through their coupling is so shockingly far from their expectations that it is hard to believe. Coming to terms with that reality takes them on a life altering and often humors journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Two-time Emmy Award winner, Rachel Axler, forces her characters and us, to come face to face with our fears, our shortcomings and ourselves in this poignant dark comedy about parenthood.

During the 2012-2013 school year, students from all across the world will have the opportunity to travel to Houston and surrounding communities to spend the entire school year in the United States, learning and working with American Families. In order for the students to come to the U.S. they must have proper host families lined up. Now is a crucial time of year for the Ayusa program as local staff coordinators to find local host families for the upcoming school year. The Ayusa program is celebrating its 30th year this year and is responsible for more than 60,000 students from 75 different countries spending the school year in the United States. With the current school year quickly coming to an end Ayusa’s local staff is busy looking for families for students for the 2012-2013 school year. Many families are needed and with the schools having deadlines and limits for foreign exchange students, the earlier the better. It also gives the families and students time to get to know each other via skype, facebook, etc. while waiting for their year abroad to start. For more information and requirements, please contact Heather Wells by phone 281-770-3414 or by email ayusakaty@gmail.com.

natIonal HuRRIcanE PREPaREdnEss ExERcIsE command Post EstablIsHEd The incident command post is up and running at West Houston Airport for the U.S. Northern Command exercise Ardent Sentry. The 25-member incident command staff will be using new technology and field testing local plans for the hurricane disaster preparedness exercise. Ardent Sentry will evaluate existing plans, policies and procedures of various civilian and military agencies, including two CAP wings - Louisiana and Texas. The exercise scenario begins with a massive tropical storm named Zelda predicted to become a major hurricane on a direct path toward the Gulf Coast. The North American Aerospace Defense Command, U.S. Northern Command, U.S. Army North and Federal Emergency Management Agency also will play important roles. The Texas Wing’s Group IV Advanced Ground Team has arrived at the command post and will soon be dispatched to the evacuation zone to assist local officials with radio communications and emergency services as needed. Plans are also under way to launch an aircraft for predisaster photo missions using CAP digital and multidirectional, full-motion video cameras. CAP personnel from across Texas and Louisiana are en route to the command post for this exercise, which is expected to last several days. The incident commander at West Houston Airport is Lt. Col. Rick Woolfolk of the Texas Wing.

Its volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to nearly 27,000 young people currently participating in the CAP cadet program.
