Our monthly meetings are not only educational and enjoyable, but they develop lasting fellowships. We look forward to meeting you there! Copperfield Place Village (CPV) A WORD FROM THE BOARD
As you know, spring is around the corner and we are thinking about giving our homes a facelift. We encourage you to take advantage of the beautiful weather we are experiencing. Remember, before we start painting the exterior of our homes, fencing, roofing or altering our front yards in any way, you must first get approval of the color selections from the architectural committee. Please contact SCS for roof or paint specifications. Do not start your projects before approval. If you paint your home and it does not meet CPV’s approval, it can result in a repaint job and expense for the homeowner. As a reminder, The 2016 HOA assessment dues mailed out in November were due January 1st and are now delinquent as of February 1st if they have not been paid. Late fees started accruing after February 1st if arrangements have not been made with SCS Management. BOARD MEETINGS: Contact SCS for next CPV scheduled Board meeting, which meets every 2 months if you wish to attend. We welcome homeowners to come and express concerns or new ideas for a better community. IMPORTANT DATES!!!!!! SPRING GARAGE SALE: Spring cleaning is here again and time for another garage sale. Our spring garage sale will be scheduled for Saturday, April 16th from 7 AM to 4 PM. HOA ANNUAL MEETING: May 23rd at the Community Center. ANNUAL POOL COOKOUT: Saturday May 28th, 11 AM to 1 PM
(CPV) POOL & PARKS COMMITTEE
IMPORTANT NOTICE: As a reminder the Community Center will continue to handle baseball field reservations and room reservations for parties or special events ONLY. POOL CARDS are all deactivated at the end of the pool season. SCS will be sending forms out each year to update records of the homeowner. Once the updated information form is returned to SCS and if assessments or accounts are up to date, the pool card will be activated for use. NO new cards are issued. If you have lost your card or you are a “new” homeowner, a new card is issued for a $25 fee.

(MG) HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION MONTHLY BOARD MEETING
The annual meeting of the Northmead Village Community Association will be Wednesday, March 23rd. It will be held at the Copperfield Community Center on Willow River Drive. You will be receiving information regarding the annual meeting soon. We encourage everyone to come. If you are unable to attend please be sure you submit your proxy so that quorum is established.
Northmead Village
While no one likes receiving a Deed Restriction notice, it’s a necessary evil to keep the neighbor in good repair, which protects everyone’s property values. If you receive a letter and have a question or need additional time to make a repair, please call Graham Management at 281-497-4320. We are here to help.
The next monthly homeowners association Board meetings will be held on Tuesday, March 1st at 6 PM, at the Copperfield Community Center, 15409 Willow River Drive. Call SCS Management, 281-463-1777, to be placed on the agenda. All homeowners are welcome.
(NM) GARAGE SALE
Mark your calendars now and save the date! The Northmead Village Spring Community Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 7 AM until 3 PM.
(NM) NEWS
The Board of Directors has been setting money aside for several years in order to update and enhance our parks. At the January 2016 meeting the Board approved a contract to install a splash pad at the park on Pebble Lake. The splash pad will be adjacent to the pool on the right hand side as you are looking at the pool from the street. During pool season a gate between the two areas will be open in order for residents to pass through. The splash pad itself will be open for a longer season than the pool giving residents some additional time to enjoy the warmer weather. We anticipate a late April opening. The Board also approved upgrading the gate access system. In the near future you will be receiving information on how to obtain new access cards. These cards will be used for both the pool and splash pad.
(NM) DEED RESTRICTIONS
(NM) GARBAGE CANS
GARBAGE CANS MUST BE STORED OUT OF SIGHT! It is a violation of deed restrictions to leave cans in view on non-garbage pick-up days. There is a fine assessed for each violation notice a resident receives. This is a growing problem in our neighborhood. Deed Restriction investigators are going to become more vigilant in citing the homes in violation. You are encouraged to report homes that are chronic violators to Graham Management. A link to contact Graham Management is also on the Copperfield website. You will remain anonymous. Your reports are appreciated.
(NM) HOME IMPROVEMENT REQUIREMENTS
Before making improvements or changes that may be effected by our Deed Restrictions, call Graham Management at 281-497-4320. They will advise you and provide the form you will need for approval of your renovation. Please do not put yourself in the unfortunate position of incurring unnecessary costs to rectify a change that was not approved.
Some other upgrades and maintenance items will also be happening in the park, including the installation of two new picnic tables near the splash pad.

(SC) TRASH & RECYCLING PICKUP
Southcreek trash pickup is on Tuesdays and Fridays. Southcreek has backdoor pickup. This means that our trashcans may be placed at the back of our driveway. We do not have to have our trashcans at the curb. Big items such as yard clippings and tree branches should be placed at the curb. Our deed restrictions state that all trash, including grass clippings, cannot be on the curb until 6 PM the night before pickup and your trashcans must be picked up from the curb by 6 PM, the day of pickup. So… you cannot have trash on the curb until Monday and Thursday nights until 6 PM and everything must be removed from the curb by 6 PM on Tuesdays and Fridays. This includes any bags that contain lawn clippings. If you have a lawn service, have them place the bags behind your fence and not leave the clippings on the curb. Our recycling day is Tuesday. Please have your recycling bin at the curb by 7 AM on Tuesdays. Please pick up your recycling by 6 PM on Tuesdays to comply with our deed restrictions.

Westcreek Village Meetings - 4th Tuesday at 6:30 PM Forest Heights Pool Meeting Room
(WC) EGRETS AND NIGHT HERONS IN COPPERFIELD
The Egrets and Night Herons have crossed West Road and built nests in homes off of Meadow Village Drive and Pearl Lake. They were at the Middlegate pool park for the last three years, until their residents drove them away. The Westcreek Village residents need to ban together to keep them out of our neighborhood. The birds usually begin to return in early February. As homeowners we need to do the following: • Trim your trees and remove dead wood. • Thin your tree canopy to allow sunlight between limbs and other trees. • Remove any old (inactive) nests in your trees. • The landscape committee will be keeping an eye on the parks. Prevention is crucial. Egrets, Herons and other migratory birds are protected by international treaty. It’s illegal for residents to harm or harass the birds once they lay eggs. Preventing the birds from building nests on residential property or in our parks in the first place is key.

GRAFFITI Parents please speak to your children about graffiti. What young people consider art expression is in reality vandalism of property. The removal of graffiti costs us all since it is our HOA dues, which is then used to get rid of the paint. Removing the graffiti as quickly as possible serves as a deterrent. Neighbors if you see graffiti in the neighborhood, please take a photo of it and report it to our Westcreek Crime Watch Chairperson Larry Berger at Larry. Berger@energytransfer.com. COMMITTEE INFORMATION All Westcreek residents are part of our community crime watch program. Please join your neighbors at the monthly meeting held the 3rd Monday of the month at 6 PM at the Forest Heights pool room.

The Westcreek Landscape Committee will be sponsoring our annual “Community Planting Event” again on April 2nd. We invite all residents to come join us in helping to keep Westcreek green and beautiful. We encourage everyone to participate, including young children. Everyone can help plant some of the small plants in the pool areas and help make a difference in our community. Water, coffee and donuts will be available to all the volunteers. We will meet at the Hudson Oaks Pool at 8 AM that Saturday morning. The event should not last much longer than two hours. Even if you cannot come for the entire project, show up for even 45 minutes to help plant a couple plants or help pick up some of the hundreds of empty containers toward the end of the project. This is a great way to meet a neighbor and learn more about Westcreek’s Landscaping Committee.
(WC) MARCH GARDENING TIPS
LAWN/GARDEN CARE • You may be ahead of the pruning curve this year with all the warm weather we enjoyed in January, but if you haven’t already performed pruning duty to your crepe myrtles, roses, as well as other types of trees immune to cold weather, you should do so now, before new spring growth begins to emerge. • The Live Oaks have been quite the challenge this year with multiple unseasonably warm days in January and February, causing leaves to constantly drop. Pruning should be completed now if possible. Be sure to water adequately as even in the cooler months these trees will pull significant water away from lawn and garden areas. • March is when our azaleas really put on a beautiful show for us. Plenty of water and proper feedings will provide a colorful showing for you to enjoy. Following these steps will really help your azaleas put on a great show; - Feed with nutrients specifically designed for azaleas (azalea/gardenia/ camellia combinations are available). - Feed 6 weeks after first blooms, feed again 6 weeks later, then again, for a total of 3 times within 12 weeks. Do not trim until the blooming season has been completed - Be sure to monitor soil acidity - azaleas do best when the ph level is between 5.6 and 6.5, with 6.0 being ideal. If the acidity is too great, add sawdust, dried mulch or ferrous sulfate tilled into the soil. Have the soil tested to ensure the proper balance. • Now is the time to fight weeds in your lawn areas as recent rains have helped add to the weed presence. Be sure to apply a post-emergent broadleaf product such as Fertilome Weed-Free Zone or Bonide Weed Beater Ultra to control weeds and prevent your lawn from having to compete for nutrients. • Now is the perfect time to “short-mow” your lawn if you haven’t already done so. Cut the height down 1” lower than normally maintained to vacuum up dead grass and open up the roots to water, sunlight and fertilizer so that new growth can now begin. This process is also recommended over mechanical de-thatching as this can damage St. Augustine. If you do not care to shortmow, adding humus to your lawn can also help break down the thatch. • You should add new topsoil now, before new growth emerges if leveling or building is needed and the weather grows too warm. • March is the ideal time to begin building your beds before planting the vegetables you would like to grow. March is the ideal time to plant Beans, Corn, Eggplant, Tomatoes as well as Squash, Pepper plants and Cantaloupe in late March. • If you plan on starting Tomatoes this year, the Tycoon variety does very well in Harris County. It can be grown either in bedding areas in the ground or in clay pots. • Get prepared now for April planting of Okra, Peas, Potatoes, Radish and Watermelon. • Be sure your bedding areas drain properly during heavy rain periods. Washouts or root rot can occur if proper drainage is not established. • Be sure to treat the soil properly with compost or organic matter to ensure fresh nutrients have been added before planting begins. • Remember not the over-plant the area as too many plants will suck the nutrients out of the soil too quickly, not to mention creates a haven for insect and rodent pests to flourish in the overgrowth. • Your watering schedule should be altered slightly as growth is beginning to accelerate and our days are also beginning to grow slightly warmer.

CFISD students are expected to raise more than $500,000 from the 22nd Annual CFISD Livestock Show and Sale, held February 4th - 6th at the CFISD Exhibit Center. The CFISD community showed an incredible amount of generosity in the live auction, freezer sale and via additional monetary contributions to students. The Premium Sale (live auction) unofficially raised $502,250. Final amounts from the Freezer Sale (animals not placing high enough for the live auction), Agriculture Mechanics silent auction and additional gifts to students are not yet available, but CFISD career and technical education coordinator Denise Kubecka mentioned that five records were tied or broken as grand and reserve champions sold.

LOBO BAND MEMBERS ADVANCE TO ALL-STATE All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. Over 1,600 students are selected through a process that begins with over 64,000 students from around the state competing for the honor to perform in one of 15 ensembles (bands, orchestras and choirs). This competitive process begins throughout the state in auditions hosted by 28 TMEA Regions. Individual musicians perform for a panel of judges who rank each instrument. From this ranking, a select group of musicians advances from their Region to compete against musicians from other Regions in seven TMEA Area competitions. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in a TMEA All-State music group before going on to perform before thousands of attendees at TMEA Convention in San Antonio. Congratulations to Lobo Band All-State Finalists Roman Arizaga (trumpet), Joel Cermak (clarinet), Amul Surelia (tuba) and Sarah Walters (flute). Way to go Lobos!!

Scouts GIRL SCOUTS OF SAN JACINTO COUNCIL COPPER CREEK MEADOWS COMMUNITY
Copper Creek Meadows Community received our shipment of Girl Scout Cookies early in February. We would like to thank all those who came out to unload the truck and assist in the distribution, especially our community cookie manager, Michelle Baxmann. Cookie sales continue through March 20th. Look for cookie booths at area businesses and other locations. Cookie sales support programs and facilities for Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, as well as funding activities for individual troops. We appreciate the support of our friends and neighbors! Those attending our Leader-Daughter event in December had a different kind of service project this year! They helped to refurbish Barbie and other fashion dolls donated to a local assistance ministry. The dolls were first cleaned and sanitized and then they got a makeover! New hairdos, clothes and shoes let the dolls look their fashionable best before meeting their new owners for the holidays. Our World Thinking Day event in February had troops representing Vietnam, Madagascar, Japan, Puerto Rico, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, France, China, Egypt, Canada, Jamaica, Australia, Spain, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa. Each troop attending had a booth to represent their country, with food and “swaps” and activities. We closed the evening with a Friendship Circle

and sang “Make New Friends”. We also collected nickels for the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund. Thinking Day commemorates the birthdays of Lord and Lady Baden-Powell and reminds us to “think” of our fellow Scouts and Guides around the world. March brings Girl Scout Week and the 104th anniversary of Girl Scouting in the United States. Many of our members will also take part in special activities at their place of worship on Girl Scout Sabbath and Girl Scout Sunday. A STRIDERS (Scout Teams Running in Different Events and Relays) event is scheduled for April, with a variety of track and field events for Girl Scouts of all ages. Whether we are jumping rope, racing around the track or making a standing broad jump, it is even more fun when our families come out to coach and cheer us on!

Leaders and their daughters are looking forward to some special times together at our spring event in Wimberley. Horseback riding, rock climbing, lots of crafts, a Dutch Oven Cook-off and a talent show are all part of this very special weekend. We also enjoy kayaking, playing in the river and just hanging out together. A little shopping sometimes helps to round out the weekend! Lots of things are going on in our Council for older girls in April, including Cadette weekend and Girl Scout Law day.

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA COPPERHEAD DISTRICT
For 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, outdoor skills and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives. The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to: • Try new things. • Provide service to others. • Build self-confidence. • Reinforce ethical standards. Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as individuals while promoting activities that lead to personal responsibility and high selfesteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made, peer pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made.

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ?
We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through March. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

FOSTER CHILDREN: PREPARATION FOR ADULT LIVING (PAL)
When foster children reach age 18, they are considered independent. That’s difficult for kids who have been wards of the state, with necessities arranged by caseworkers with state funds. Now they’ll have to figure out how to organize themselves and make their money last a whole month. Fortunately, Child protective Services offers them a program to help prepare for independence: Preparation for Adult Living (PAL). The year-long course culminates in an all-day workshop hosted by the National Council for Jewish Women (NCJW). The course is held at Junior Achievement’s BizTown, using computer kiosks sponsored by local businesses.
