There are so many beautiful yards to choose from that we try to recognize as many as we can without rewarding the same yards again and again. We also try to keep track of the new homeowners so that they can be rewarded, even if their yard has won before under a previous owner. Our thanks to all our neighbors for making our job difficult. Keep up the good work! We thank Calloway/Cornelius for their contribution of rewards for our Yard of the Month contests. These are the last Yard of the Month awards for 2012. Fall Swim Training Program Opens at LOEN
The Swim Team’s Fall Swim Program started this week with practices at Lakes on Eldridge North. It’s a training and conditioning program for intermediate and experienced swimmers. There may still be available spaces so check our website for more information: www. loedolphins.org Divisional and Invitational swim meets were hard fought, competing against the much bigger teams we had to face this year since we moved up one level after winning the division last year. We had many team records broken by our swimmers. Details are available online at our website www.loedolphins.org, click on “Viewing Results” under “Swim Meet Info” for instructions. The outgoing Swim Team Board wants to thank our great volunteers, many of whom went above and beyond to help, our dedicated coaches, who brought out the best in each and every swimmer and the residents of LOE who supported us and were gracious hosts for our practices and meets. The new Swim Team Board is already hard at work to plan a successful season for next year. You can check our website www. loedolphins.org in January 2013 for the latest information and look for updated LOE Swim Team News in February’s newsletter.

Lakes on Eldridge Bible Study Group
The Lakes on Eldridge Bible Study resumed meeting every Tuesday morning at the Beach Club in September. The New study by Lenya Heitzig and Penny Rose, Live Abundantly, a Fresh Life Series by David C. Cook, begins our fall meetings. As we dig into the book of Ephesians we shall unearth the greatest treasure of life - a gift “exceedingly abundantly above” whatever you could possibly ask for. This twelve-week study for women takes only 20 minutes a day and with each lesson, we hope to develop a deeper intimacy with God and a deeper understanding of Bible truths. If you would like to join us or would like additional information, please contact Stephanie at mrstjl10179@gmail.com . We meet every Tuesday from 9:15 AM until 11:30 AM for fellowship, praise, study and prayer. On the first Tuesday of each month we go out for lunch after our meeting. The study guides cost $13 and will be available for purchase at the first meeting or you can contact Stephanie and she will get one for you before the meetings begin. We hope you will want to come and grow in your faith and share fellowship with a great bunch of Christian ladies. 911 Hang up Acci/Unk Maj Min Accidental Injury Alarm/Rep. CY-FAIR EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION HONORS MILITARY HEROES
The Foundation will kick off its fifth “Salute to Our Heroes” event on February 9, 2013 at the Omni Hotel Westside Houston. “Salute to Our Heroes” honors the brave men and women who have served to preserve our freedom and liberty. Proceeds from this event go to an endowment enabling graduating students from CFISD to attend college. The event will be generously underwritten by Earthcare Management and Kodiak Gas Services, as the Missing Man Underwriters. The Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital will be the Major General Sponsor. This year our guest speaker is Steve Russell. LTC Steve Russell (Ret.) commanded the central unit responsible in the hunt and capture of Saddam Hussein. Through leadership and joint efforts across multiple teams, a large organization worked effectively to capture one of the world’s most notorious criminals. Russell is an American Hero. His proven leadership and problem-resolution techniques engage audiences through his storytelling.

Salute to Our Heroes has two purposes. First, to give tribute to our heroes - soldiers serving now, veterans and those who have been wounded or killed in action. We want to honor those who have served their country. The second purpose is to raise funds for scholarships for Cy-Fair ISD students. Each year we give three scholarships per Cy-Fair ISD high school, and the number of high schools is growing. It has been a challenge keeping up with the demand, but CFEF is dedicated to this mission. The inaugural event honors Jersey Village High School graduate 1st Lt. Jeremy E. Ray, who was killed Dec. 20, 2007 while serving his country in Iraq. A CFEF endowment was established in Jeremy’s memory by an anonymous donor. Last year the 1st Lieutenant Jeremy Ray Community Service and Peace Award was presented to Klein Funeral Homes & Memorials. Following tradition, the event will have the Missing Man Table & Honors Ceremony. The table will have empty table settings with chairs leaning up against the table as though saved for someone. The table settings have a single red rose displayed in a vase in reminder of the bloodshed for our country and the vase was tied with a red ribbon - a symbol of the continued pledge to shed blood for our country. A slice of lemon on the bread plate is a reminder of the bitterness of the loss of comrades in arms; a bowl of salt to symbolize the tears shed by family members of lost loved ones and glasses turned upside down indicate no one will sit there. Last year’s ceremony was performed by the 75th Army Division Honor Guard and was proceeded by Taps performed by William Veenstra, Cy-Fair High School Senior. For more information on the 2013 event please contact Marie Holmes at marie@thecfef.org or 281-807-3591.

CFISD culinary students had an impressive display at the Greater Houston Area Cupcake Battle, sponsored by the Hospitality Educators Association of Texas and held last November at Pasadena Rayburn High School. SHALOM
Hi Jewish Community. Let’s get connected! To share Shabbat dinners, Chanukah parties, Passover Seders or simply get together! Interested? Email us at info@shalomcypress.org or visit www. shalomcypress.org - our website. We are hosting a Hanukkah party on Dec. 8th. Please get in touch with us for details.
The Church is organized geographically into stakes, which are similar to a Catholic diocese. In his new assignment, President Lauck will preside over 12 congregations in Cypress, Waller, Fairfield, Bridgeland, Tomball and Northwest Houston. Stake presidents typically serve for approximately 9-10 years and come from a variety of backgrounds. President Lauck was raised in the Sugarland/Missouri City area. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in business. Currently he resides in Northwest Houston and is a business development manager with Shell Oil Company, where he has worked for over 21 years. The Church has no salaried ministry, so President Lauck will continue to work full time while fulfilling his new ecclesiastical responsibilities. He and his wife, Leanne, have been married for 23 years. Houston has been their home for 14 of those years. They have three children - one currently serving a two-year church mission in New York, one attending college and one a student in Cy-Fair I.S.D.

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ? We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through December. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.
