The pool will be closed on Mondays for maintenance, with the exception of Memorial Day and Labor Day. In these instances, it will be open for the holiday and closed on Tuesday. The following qualiﬁcations must be met in order to use the pool facilities: 1. You must be a resident member and/or guest of a resident member. 2. Owner must be current on annual maintenance fees in order for tags to be issued. Fees will not be accepted at pool registration. 3. Resident must have swim tag visible at all times while in the pool area. 4. All swimmers must obey the posted rules and obey the lifeguards at all times. 1. The pool facility is for the use of homeowners in good standing with the Association and their accompanied guest only. 2. A current pool tag is required upon access to the pool and must remain visible at all times. Each tag must be presented to a lifeguard upon entry. 3. No alcoholic beverages allowed at any time. 4. No wheeled vehicles allowed (except wheelchairs and baby strollers). 5. There must be at least 1 adult for every 3 children under the age of 6. An adult is deﬁned as a person 18 years of age or over. 6. Parents of children 12 years old and under must be in the pool area with children at all times. 7. Baby pool is for children 6 years of age and under and parent must attend to child at all times. Parent or guardian is responsible for children using baby pool. 8. No running or horseplay allowed. 9. Swimsuits only. Boys must have a drawstring. No cut-offs. 10. Proper baby diapers, swim diapers, will only be allowed. 11. No one with an exposed injury or wearing bandages is allowed in the pool. 12. No pets allowed inside pool facility. 13. No hard balls allowed in pool facility. 14. Allowing large ﬂoats is at the discretion of the lifeguard. 15. All swimmers must use the shower before entering the pool. 16. No loud or abusive language at any time. 17. Smoking is not permitted inside the pool gate. 18. Lifeguards must be obeyed at all times. They have the authority to remove persons endangering anyone or violating pool rules. The pool company will keep any pool tag they deem necessary. After a tag has been kept on 3 separate occasions for serious behavioral problems, the tag will void for the remainder of the pool season.

BOY SCOUT TROOP 987 WILL BE OFFERING A US FLAG ROUTE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD!

The Boy Scout Troop 987 is offering this service to your neighborhood as a service fundraiser. For $35, the scouts will place a 3’ x 5’ flag at your residence on the following national holidays (place approximately sunrise and take away approximately sundown): Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Patriot Day and Veteran’s Day. Monies raised through this project will support Scouts of Troop 987 in activities, such as attending summer camp, going on regular camping excursions and participating in other activities. This service fundraiser will also help our scouts build pride in their community while helping to earn their own way for scouting activities. Don’t Leave Your Lights On Don’t leave your lights on the whole time you are away in an effort to make it seem like you are home. Lights that stay on all day and night may give away clues to criminals. Instead, invest in a light switch timer that can turn your lights on and off automatically through a programed schedule. Remove Your Spare Key There’s no reason to leave a spare anywhere on your property while you are away. Leave a spare key only with someone you trust. Stop Your Mail Order a Hold on your mail and newspapers or have someone you know collect it on a daily basis. Having a week’s worth of mail on your front step is a dead giveaway you’re not home. PARKING LAWS WILL BE ENFORCED

As many residents have noticed, cars parking in the wrong direction on the side of the road has become an increasing problem throughout the community. The officers that patrol the neighborhood have been giving warnings for this, but will begin issuing tickets. Please utilize your driveway and garage and when parking on the street is necessary, please park in the same direction as traffic. Additional parking problems have occurred at the tennis and clubhouse parking lots. As a result, the Board has adopted a Common Area Parking and Tow Policy. The Policy has been filed in the official

public records with the Harris County Clerk and is available by visiting www.crest-management.com, clicking on Communities and selecting Governors Place. Towing will be enforced.

DEED RESTRICTION REMINDER

If you plan on making a change to your home/yard, please fill out a Request for Home Improvement - Governor’s Place form. This form (a full one page) is located in this newsletter. • Cars may not be parked on the front lawn of your property. • Trailers, boats, RVs, recreational vehicles must be stored out of view of the street. • Remember that our streets are very narrow and utilize your driveway to park cars. • Store trash cans out of street view. • Now is the time to start cleaning out gutters and roof tops to get rid of pine needles and leaves. • We urge parents to advise your children to ride scooters and electric toys on the sidewalks, NOT in the streets. There have been too many near misses reported and we don’t want a child to “learn their lesson” the hard way by being hit by a car.

Together as a community we must always be alert for both ourselves and our neighbors. Please phone (713-221-6000) the sheriff for anything suspicious; robbery, suspicious looking people, speeding, etc.

MAINTAINING PROPERTY VALUES

One of the important purposes of a homeowner’s association is to enforce the terms of the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions that are “attached to” our properties when we buy them. These documents provide for an Architectural Control Committee to approve changes or additions to the exteriors of our homes or lots.

If you are planning to paint your house or replace your roof, contact Crest Management at 281-579-0761 and ask for an ACC form. Please fill out the form and return it for approval by the ACC Committee. While it may be an inconvenience, it is a means of cooperating with your neighbors, so that we all maintain the “curb appeal” that attracts buyers. This means more dollars when you want to sell your home. Another important part of the DCCR concerns the enforcement of deed restrictions. Governors Place does this by having Crest do two monthly inspections. If you receive a notice for a deed restriction violation, don’t feel insulted but please don’t ignore it. If you don’t understand it or think there is a mistake, call Crest Management at 281-579-0761 or send a written response. Most of the time, violations are corrected after one notice and no further action is required. Let’s all work together to help keep our community a nice place to live.

WASTE REMOVAL

Please remember not to place your garbage out any sooner than the night before the scheduled pick-up day. After pick-up, all garbage cans should be kept out of public view. They should not be kept in front of garages, in the front yards of any home or on the side of any home. Please make every effort to conceal the trashcans from public view on non-trash days.

RECREATIONAL VEHICLES

Parking recreational vehicles in the community is a violation of the governing rules and regulations. We understand this is the time of year vacations and family visits are planned, so if you will take a moment to call Crest Management at 281-579-0761 to notify us as to when you will have your recreational vehicle(s) in the driveway, we will give you 1 to 2 days grace period. We understand people have to live, that is why we want to open the lines of communication. If we

INGREDIENTS: 1/4 cup olive oil 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1/2 teaspoon sea salt 8 Roma tomatoes, sliced 2 (12 inch) pre-baked pizza crusts 8 ounces shredded Mozzarella cheese 4 ounces shredded Fontina cheese 10 fresh basil leaves, washed, dried 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese

Each year, from September 15 to October 15 , the United States celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the economic, cultural and social contributions of the more than 44.3 million Latinos residing in the U.S. The dates of Hispanic Heritage Month were selected to include the Independence Day celebrations of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Chile and to incorporate October 12th, Día de la Raza, a holiday celebrated throughout Latin America to observe the colonization, exploration and multicultural heritage of the Americas. th

How to celebrate: • Visit a museum or gallery that has a Hispanic Heritage Monthrelated exhibit. You might learn about Hispanic artists, musicians or scientists who contributed to Hispanic culture around the world. • Go to your neighborhood bookstore or library to hear a lecture about Hispanic history. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by learning about any one of the 21 countries represented by Hispanic society. • Attend a Hispanic dance performance or a Latin music concert. Take in the rhythm of the music or watch dancers move to the Latin beat. Or take dance lessons yourself, such as a salsa-dancing lesson. Ask ahead to ﬁnd out whether or not you will need a partner for the class. • Watch a ﬁlm in Spanish (with or without subtitles), see a play or musical related to a Hispanic tradition or see a performance put on by Hispanic Americans. This day has a threefold purpose: • To honor grandparents. • To give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children’s children. • To help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance older people can offer. The impetus for a National Grandparents Day originated with Marian McQuade, a housewife in Fayette County, West Virginia. Her primary motivation was to champion the cause of lonely elderly in nursing homes. She also hoped to persuade grandchildren to tap the wisdom and heritage their grandparents could provide. President Jimmy Carter, in 1978, proclaimed that National Grandparents Day would be celebrated every year on the ﬁrst Sunday after Labor Day.

Katy Youth Basketball (KYB) is celebrating its 30th year as Katy’s premier youth basketball organization. Registration for our 5-on-5 season will begin in September. KYB has developed a new website and registration platform and will now be offering parents the ability to complete all their registration needs online, prior to our walk-up registration, which is now optional. However, KYB will continue to host a walk-up registration for those who prefer to register in person. KYB offers a 5-on-5 league for boys and girls of all skill levels who are currently enrolled in 1st-8th grades and who reside within the Katy ISD attendance boundaries. We are a (ladies only) daytime chorus rehearsing every Friday morning from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, at the Treemont Retirement Center, 2501 Westerland, near Westheimer and Gessner. Some of us read music, but it is not required. We are provided a CD to help in learning new songs. Our director, Martha Upton and assistant director, Cay Eckland will help you ﬁnd out if you are a Tenor, Lead, Baritone or Bass. We have been performing in the Houston area for over 38 years. We prepare two types of shows each year; a Christmas show with old favorites, but always a new fun tune including props, narratives

GRACE NOTES

Singers, dancers and Instrumentalists are invited to join the “Grace Notes” a performing group which shares music with the elderly in retirement homes, Alzheimer’s and nursing facilities and community events. We sing a combination of secular, patriotic and sacred music. We also sing once a month on Sunday morning for the congregation of St. Peter’s UMC. FREE MUSIC PROGRAMS AT LIVING WORD LUTHERAN CHURCH FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH Children and youth of the Katy-area community are invited to join Living Word Lutheran Church’s music programs. The following programs are available:

Children (4 yrs-1st grade) are invited to join the Cherubs music program and children (grades 2-5) are invited to join the Choristers music program. The children will learn to read music, sing in a healthy vocal style and play chimes and other instruments. Cherubs will meet on Mondays from 6-6:45 PM beginning September 14th and Choristers will meet on Tuesdays from 6-7:15 PM beginning September 1st. The groups will sing during worship services about once a month and a children’s musical will be performed in the spring of 2016. Youth (grades 6-12) are also invited to join Living Word Lutheran Church’s music program. They will learn to read music by singing and playing hand bells. Or, if your child prefers to play a band or orchestra instrument rather than sing, they are also welcome to join the group. The group will meet on Sundays at 4-5 PM beginning Sunday, September 13th. The youth will sing about once a month in worship services and will sing in Living Word’s annual Christmas and Easter Cantatas. There is also the opportunity for solo singing if desired.
