The Parade was immediately followed by a Flag Raising Ceremony up at the Recreation Center, brought to us by Boy Scout Troop 230. The National Anthem was beautifully sung by our very own Anisha Mackenzie. Prizes were given for the best parade decorations, but everyone was a winner in our book! Thank you to all of the resident spectators who came out to support the kiddies! We had an amazing turnout this year!

And the Winners Are… We had so many wonderful prizes to give away at this year’s 4th of July Parade and Family Splash Day! A very special thank you goes out to Christian Brothers Automotive - West Katy for sponsoring the entire event! Also thank you to Michelle Perzan, Ambit Energy Independent Consultant for donating all of our awesome gift card prizes!

At the Family Splash Day, the kids enjoyed swimming, playing on an Inflatable Slip N’ Slide, making lots of huge bubbles and having a deliciously messy Watermelon Eating Contest! Adults relaxed by the pool while the kids had a blast! Everyone was served a delicious hotdog lunch. What a great day everyone had! A very special thank you goes out to Christian Brothers Automotive-West Katy, for sponsoring this wonderful event! We loved all the goodies they had to pass out to us and we are so glad to have them as our sponsor!

To help preserve the beauty of our neighborhood and to protect property values, Grayson Lakes’ Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions establishes Architectural Guidelines that must be followed for all improvements, alterations or modifications to the exterior of your property. To keep the Architectural Guidelines current and to include State mandated changes, the Architectural Review Committee has spent many hours refreshing the guidelines and consolidating several supplemental filings into one new document. The new Exhibit “E” can be found by opening the “www.graysonlakesliving.com” website, under the “Community” drop down menu click on “Resident Forms & Documents,” then scan down the page until you find “Exhibit E - Initial Architectural Guidelines and Supplements mm/dd/yyyy,” then click on it.

We are a (ladies only) daytime chorus rehearsing every Friday morning from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, at the Treemont Retirement Center, 2501 Westerland, near Westheimer and Gessner. Some of us read music, but it is not required. We are provided a CD to help in learning new songs. Our director, Martha Upton and assistant director, Cay Eckland will help you find out if you are a Tenor, Lead, Baritone or Bass. We have been performing in the Houston area for over 38 years. We prepare two types of shows each year; a Christmas show

with old favorites, but always a new fun tune including props, narratives and choreography. FREE MUSIC PROGRAMS AT LIVING WORD LUTHERAN CHURCH FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH Children and youth of the Katy-area community are invited to join Living Word Lutheran Church’s music programs. The following programs are available: Children (4 yrs-1st grade) are invited to join the Cherubs music program and children (grades 2-5) are invited to join the Choristers music program. The children will learn to read music, sing in a healthy vocal style and play chimes and other instruments. Cherubs will meet on Mondays from 6-6:45 PM beginning September 14th and Choristers will meet on Tuesdays from 6-7:15 PM beginning September 1st. The groups will sing during worship services about once a month and a children’s musical will be performed in the spring of 2016. Youth (grades 6-12) are also invited to join Living Word Lutheran Church’s music program. They will learn to read music by singing and playing hand bells. Or, if your child prefers to play a band or orchestra instrument rather than sing, they are also welcome to join the group. The group will meet on Sundays at 4-5 PM beginning Sunday, September 13th. In partnership with The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, the Star of Destiny Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (Katy, Texas) commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War by honoring our Vietnam veterans. For historic preservation, Star of Destiny, NSDAR, is compiling personal histories of Vietnam veterans primarily with connections to Katy, TX, but also welcomes and encourages all Vietnam veterans to participate. Deputy Kaminski, who is a certified Mental Health Peace Officer, stated often times when arriving on a chaotic scene where children are involved, having a cuddly bear or some type of toy on hand, brings comfort to the child.

RUOK PROGRAM

Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Dept. has a computer-generated program called “Are You OK?” (RUOK). It is a computer-generated call intended for senior citizens (over 55) and disabled persons who live alone and could benefit from a daily check. A computer will generate a call each morning, at about the same time and the participant chooses a time frame. A voice will ask, “Are you OK?” After this, all they have to do is hang up the phone. If the participant goes out of town or leaves the residence for any time, you just temporarily un-subscribe and re-subscribe when you return. If the call goes unanswered, the computer will call back 3 times at 15-minute intervals. If there is still no answer, the Sheriff will dispatch a deputy or the local police. They will have with them a print out of information on the person that is not responding to the calls. This program was established by FBC Sheriff Milton Wright, Commissioner’s Court and Ken Whitt (FBC Sheriff’s Citizens Academy Alumni Assoc.) in 1998. Many police chiefs in the county are also participating in the program and will proceed with the welfare check for citizens of their community. All animals, when outside of an owner’s means of restraint (i.e., in a fenced back yard), must be on a leash. For the safety of all residents, please use all precautions with your pets and keep them on leashes when walking pets in the community EVEN IF YOU FEEL YOUR PET IS HARMLESS. If you see ANY animal roaming freely in the neighborhood, immediately call Animal Control at 281-342-1512. Even if you recognize the animal, be very careful approaching it, as you do not know how it will react; if you can safely retrieve the animal, then call the owner. Otherwise, Animal Control is your best and safest option.
