Please have your trash ready for pickup by 7 AM on pickup days. Landscaping debris, such as large bags of grass clippings, tree branches/limbs, etc. will be picked up either day, but it must be carried to the end of your driveway and left there for pickup; you can bring these heavy items out the night before, but please not several days in advance of pickup. Your neighbors appreciate it!

GEYER ROOFING Specializing in

Heavy household items such as hot water heaters, washers, etc. are considered “heavy trash” and are picked up on Wednesdays and Saturdays. All other trash will be picked up “at the back door” (outside the gate beside the garage, etc.) by WCA. Please be sure trash is visible and/or accessible to them, and please keep all pets safely away from that area of your yard. We pay for “back door” pickup, so that is where the men look for your trash.

(GT ESTATES) REcyclinG Recycling plays an important role in how we help to protect the environment. The recycling day for the neighborhood is on Wednesday. Have your recycling bin at the curb no later 7:00 AM. You can recycle the following items; newsprint, magazines, phone books, corrugated boxes (broken down), non-corrugated cardboard (i.e. cereal boxes, soda boxes, etc.), HDPE Plastics 1 & 2 (look for the little triangle symbol usually on the bottom of the container with the number inside of it), aluminum and tin cans, paper, plastics 1 through 7, all glass and all metals. Items excluded include plastic bags, Styrofoam, pizza boxes and food soiled items.

Loose dogs

We have received complaints about dogs running loose. Harris County requires both dogs and cats to be vaccinated, licensed and kept in fenced yards or on leashes. This is for the safety of both our neighbors and your pets.

Remember, that if you leave food outside for a dog or cat, you may be attracting other nuisance animals, including rats. If your dog tends to bark, please do not leave it outside.

British and Expat FamiliEs oF Katy

British and Expat Families of Katy enjoyed a very special evening at Willowfork Country Club on Friday, June 8th in celebration of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, marking 60 years of The Queen’s reign. Over 120 guests were invited to enjoy traditional British food (Bangers ’n’ Mash and Fish ’n’ chips), a Royal quiz (similar to the typical format of a British pub quiz) and entertainment in the form of a 1970’s/80’s disco by our very own in-house British DJ Evelyn Borthwick. carefully wrapped and brought back in hand luggage from the UK; home-made gravy cooked by one of our organizers and delivered to the Club earlier that day; Union Jack bunting (decorative cakes displaying photographic images of Buckingham Palace and Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty and two Royal Corgies, resplendent and bejeweled, were standing on display at the top of the staircase as if poised to greet and welcome arriving guests and every table bore the title and photograph of a Royal Property surrounded by candles, confetti and balloons.

KATY ISD ANNOUNCES TRANSPORTATION CHANGES FOR 2012 - 2013 The Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved a change in the eligibility requirements for students to receive transportation services. Starting in August 2012, the eligibility for bus transportation will change from the current 3/10 of a mile to approximately 1/2 mile for elementary students and approximately one mile for junior high and high school students. Bus transportation will continue to be provided for students for whom a hazardous condition may exist between home and school, as well as special needs bus routes. Approximately 52 bus routes (elementary and secondary) will be eliminated, affecting approximately 6,600 students or nearly 21% of the 32,000 students that ride school buses daily. The Katy ISD Transportation Department available for parents sometime in August dates once they become available. The changes are the result of the Transportation Department experiencing available to meet daily transportation route requirements. Due to vacant routes and driver absences, there have been days in which the department changes will allow the district to better meet route driver needs and will provide for more effective route management, including driver training and driver support in issues involving student management. “The change in transportation services comes after extensive review of our current transportation operations that not only revealed a heavy burden for drivers covering multiple routes, but also a high amount of uncertainty and risk due to vacant routes and driver absences,” said Katy ISD Superintendent Alton Frailey. “In comparison to other school districts, Katy ISD’s transportation eligibility distances remain among the shortest in the Houston area as many districts require students to live outside of a two mile radius.”
