A POOL IS COOL, BUT ONLY WHEN ITâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S SAFE

Pools make for great summer fun, but they can be an accident waiting to happen. Pools are a great way to beat the heat, but they can be dangerous. Drowning and waterborne infections are threats for adults and children alike. To make sure your memories of pools are happy ones, follow these tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Make safety a priority. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s easier than you might think for someone - especially a child - to accidentally fall into a pool. Children can also quietly make their way to a pool before anyone knows theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re missing. If you have a pool on your property, take these precautions: closing, self-latching and out of small childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s reach. alarm that will sound if the door is unexpectedly opened. water when the pool isnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t in use. the water, with remote receivers placed inside the house. Texas Christian High School wants to congratulate all their seniors for an outstanding school year. The Texas Christian staff and administration is very proud of the studentâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s hard work and accomplishments. Three of the seniors grade year. The entire class has grown spiritually, academically, socially and athletically - so much so that many have received scholarships to the colleges of their choice. Eighty-four CFISD teachers, two paraprofessionals and two support staff members received Spotlight awards during the 27th annual Spotlight Awards ceremony on May 7th a the Berry Center. This summer, the HFAC Actors Academy is offering 37 different 1 and 3-week performing arts camps for grades 1-12. HFAC camps run through august 26, 2012 and feature acting, singing and dance instruction as well as performance opportunities in musicals, dramas and comedies - especially designed for kids and teens! The Alzheimer’s Association, Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter will host a Memory Café for individuals with memory loss and their care partners from 3 to 5 PM, on July 15th, at the Langham Creek Family YMCA, 16725 Longenbaugh Houston, TX 77095, near Cypress. This casual social meeting is open to anyone with progressive memory loss or cognitive impairment and their families or care partners. The café will enhance existing health and social care services, providing people with the opportunity to meet with others who have similar experiences.
