LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Hello Neighbors, I would like to say thank you to all the residents who participated in this year’s annual meeting. We had a great turnout through both attendance and proxies. A lot of good questions were asked by homeowners who were able to make it to the meeting. Also, special thanks to Sonja Taylor from Spectrum Association Management for running the meeting and getting everyone’s questions answered. The Board of Directors will be voting on a couple of items this month that will truly enhance the looks of our community. The first will be to update the landscaping along Lake Promenade. This area is the focal point of our community and is the first thing residents see when they drive through the community. Needless to say it has been needed for some time and will really improve the appearance of our community. In addition, we will also be voting to repair the lights on the lake and replacing the pump and fountain. Both of these items are in need of being addressed. We are also looking to change the spray on the fountain to something other than the “firehose” look we have now. On another topic regarding the lake, we get asked quite often about dying the lake water. This is something that the Association looked at and tried in the past. Unfortunately, there are several reasons why this is not something that should be done. First, our lake is not a lake but a floodwater retention pond. That means every time it rains, the dye will be washed out. At a cost of close to $750 per treatment, this can get quite expensive. Second, our lake water feeds the neighborhood irrigation system. If we were to dye the water we would have colored water staining large areas of the community, including overspray on resident’s homes. Please let us know if you have any further questions regarding this topic. Lastly, just a few friendly reminders: Please make sure all garbage cans are stored out-of-site on days when there is no trash pick-up. There is no parking on the private alleys (unless you are able to get all four tires entirely on your garage apron), on private streets (these are the streets that are not marked with the

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ?
We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through July. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

The chart is a summary of the various features of the official Lakeville website. The summary is for all residents to review in order to help them become familiar with the website and especially for those residents new to Lakeville, not registered to the website or unaware there is an official Lakeville website. The site was designed to be a repository of information. It is not designed to have interactive exchange between users, which can lead to confrontation. There are mechanisms in place to allow a resident to contact the Board, any committees, the management company or vendors. This way a resident can ask for help with the website, communicate ideas, suggestions, concerns or problems confidentially to the appropriate contacts. The resident’s email address or information is not shared or displayed on the site unless the resident decides to do so. We do recommend the name and address be shown in the Directory so residents will become familiar with their neighbors around them but it is not a requirement. We have found in too many cases that

We would also recommend that homeowners please sign up on the Spectrum website to be able to view their management company account, pay assessments online, review services and documents. This can be done by connecting directly to the Spectrum website www.spectrumam.com or from the Lakeville website by clicking on Spectrum and registering with Spectrum. Garage Sales: Did you know? Two garage sales a year is the limit under Texas Law. The Limited Sales, Excise and Use Tax Act says that people who are not operating a business are permitted to have no more than two sales of their goods each year. If you exceed this amount, you will be treated as operating a business and you’ll need to obtain a sales tax permit from the state. A quick Internet search reveals that a number of Texas cities also have ordinances limiting garage sales and some don’t allow them at all. Houston has no such ordinance, however, according to the city’s website. Instead, the city relies on the state law. Businesses are not allowed in the community. Trash Can Containers: Trash cans and Trash are to be out of site and remain out of view at all times, it takes away from property values. Street Curbs: Curbs are homeowners’ responsibility to keep clean and free of debris, (i.e. leaves and trash). Keeping these clean will ensure less street flooding, trash being forced down and clogging sewer drains. Oil Stains: If you’re having difficulties getting the oil and grease stains out from your driveway, there are a few mixtures you can buy at an auto part store that is less than $10. These mixtures will help get the oil and grease stains in your driveway. Streetlights: HOA Assessments pay for streetlights, please report streetlight outages to: www.centerpointenergy.com/services/ electricity/residential/reportastreetlightoutage, you will need the six digit streetlight pole number and a nearby address when filing out the on line report.
PETS
Did you know that all pets that reside in Harris County must be registered? You can register your pet on-line at www.countypets. com.
SCOOP YOUR PET’S POOP
Please remember to be respectful of your neighbors’ yards and the community grounds. When you take your pet for a walk, come prepared with a scooper and a recycled grocery bag or anything else. If your pet poops during your walk, please scoop and trash. It may not be the most fabulous way to walk your pet, but it does show that you respect your fellow neighbors’ and our beautiful community.
HARRIS COUNTY LEASH LAW
Animals that are not properly restrained pose a threat to all our residents. While you may know your pet is friendly, an animal running at someone who is walking by is very scary for that person. Many children are afraid of animals and become frightened, which could result in the child getting hurt trying to avoid the animal. Harris County Animal Control advises, “All dogs and cats must be kept under restraint while in the unincorporated areas of Harris County, Texas. The custodian of a dog or cat is not authorized to have, harbor or keep any unlicensed dog or cat, nor to allow any dog or cat to become a stray.” Restraint is defined as “the control of a dog or cat under the following circumstances: 1. When it is controlled by a line or leash not more than six (6) feet in length, if the line or leash is held by a human being, who is capable of controlling or governing the dog or cat in question 2. When it is within a fully enclosed vehicle 3. When it is on the premise of the custodian and the animal does not have access to sidewalk or street.” While it may be nice to have your animal out in the yard while you
