Shefﬁeld residents should receive sometime after Halloween their 2016 annual assessment bill. Please follow the payment instructions enclosed with the bill. Remember that payment is due by December 31, 2015, with a grace period ending January 31, 2016. PEASE NOTE: An ACC application must be submitted and approved prior to you adding shrubs or fencing in the front of your property. Please see the HOA guidelines regarding fencing requirements to ensure that fencing additions meet guidelines and that you submit your plans and application for approval PRIOR to doing any modifications. The ACC application form can be downloaded from the Crest Management website at www.crest-management.com, please select Communities at the top of the page and then select Sheffield. The ACC application will be located at the bottom of the page. The applications should be submitted to Crest Management as indicated on the form. Please, remember Sheffield HOA does not manage your trash service. This service is through Langham Creek MUD (water bill) 281579-4500. DEED RESTRICTION VIOLATIONS

Do you know what the top three reasons management companies send out deed restriction letters? The ﬁrst is not keeping your yard mowed and weeded. Mow your yard on a regular basis, keeping it a little higher in the summer months, which helps in water retention and crowding out weeds. The second is leaving your trashcans out in front of the house or garage. Trashcans should be kept out of sight (in the garage, behind the privacy fence or behind shrubs or a purpose built enclosure. Contact Crest Management if you wish to build a trashcan enclosure for Architectural Control forms. The third reason is mildew on the house siding. This often happens on shady areas of the house. Power washing or spraying with a cleaning solution for mildew often takes care of the problem.

Placing garage sale signs in the ﬂower and shrub beds within the neighborhood is not permitted. Such signs found in the ﬂower and shrub beds will be removed immediately and placed in the trash.

Please note that Shefﬁeld garbage pickup (blue can) is every Tuesday and Friday, heavy trash is every other Tuesday beginning July 7th and recycling (gray can) is every Friday. Call WCA at 281368-8397 with any questions. Please do not store your trashcans in plain sight of the street. Keep them in your garage, behind your fence or elsewhere out of sight. Thank you for your cooperation.

LITTER PICKUP

Just a reminder, if you see trash in the neighborhood, please be a good neighbor and pick it up and dispose of it properly. Otherwise, then trash will either end up in someone’s shrubbery or trees or else get washed down the storm sewers, contributing to mosquito breeding and backing up of the storm drains in times of heavy rains. Thanks to those of you who regularly pick up other people’s litter.

PETS

Please remember that you are not allowed by law to let your dogs and cats run loose in the neighborhood. If caught, you may receive a ticket in the amount of up to $500 for such a violation (we have had residents receive such a ticket). If you see loose pets you can contact Harris County Animal Control. A number of Sheffield residents either walk their dogs or let their cats run loose. It is a violation of deed restrictions to let your pet leave their poop on another resident’s lawn or the common grounds (they belong to all of Sheffield’s residents). If your pet does have to go to the bathroom, please be courteous and carry a plastic bag (store bags or the newspaper delivery bag are great for this), pick up the pile by placing your hand inside the bag, grab the pile through the bag, tie the bag up and throw it in the garbage. Leaving your pet waste around encourages the possible spread of pet disease, such as Parvo, which can be life threatening, or parasites. A number of complaints have been made about stray cats roaming the neighborhood. To report stray or unconfined animals call 281-9993191, Monday thru Friday during the hours of 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

The Cypress Ridge High School Symphony Orchestra will be joining an elite group of musicians with its invitation to the 69th annual Midwest Clinic in Chicago. The Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference, the world’s largest instrumental music education conference, is scheduled for December 16th - 19th. Cypress Ridge is the ﬁrst orchestra from Cypress-Fairbanks ISD to be chosen to perform. The 110 member Cypress Ridge Symphony Orchestra is among six international high school orchestras that will perform at the conference. Every year, groups of every type and size from all over the world apply for the honor of performing at the conference. The Cypress Ridge Symphony Orchestra was chosen based on its excellent resume of past contest performances and on a recorded audition submitted in March. The invitation to participate is an honor and culmination of the orchestra members many years of hard work and practice under the leadership of their director, Mr. Christopher Mustell. The orchestra recognizes the once-in-a-lifetime experience and looks forward to representing Cypress Ridge, CFISD and Houston. The expenses for this opportunity are challenging and expected to run $1,500 per student. Community support will be vital in making sure every symphony orchestra member may participate. TROOP 1296 EAGLE SCOUT CANDIDATE DAWSON BENNETT

Eagle scout candidate Dawson Bennett raised funds to support the building of 100 “Whisper Phones” for use in Copeland Elementary school. As a former Copeland Colt, Dawson chose a project that would give back to a school that he says “taught him so much.” Whisper Phones are a literacy tool that allows a student to whisper into it when reading aloud, which then amplifies their voice, allowing the student to hear their sounds and words distinctly. Girl Scouts in Copper Creek Meadows Community have had a busy autumn! The Fall product sale was a success and we thank our family, friends and neighbors who have supported us! We would also like to thank Crystal Lawrenz and all the volunteers who made the program run smoothly this year. Our Girl Scouts have been taking advantage of the autumn weather to take ﬁeld trips and learn about the outdoors. Troop 113017 made a trip to Dewberry Farms to enjoy the fall activities. Troop 113035 worked on their Hiker Badge at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. They also worked on the Letterboxer Badge and have been collecting books for Lowery Elementary. Troop 16369 Rally Night at Owens Elementary

Elementary. While parents took part in a meeting, these Girl Scouts held a ﬂag ceremony and taught the younger girls Girl Scout songs, played games and showed them what Girl Scouting is all about. Copper Creek Meadows Community is looking forward to a LeaderDaughter event in December and hoping to have another one in the spring. Many of our troops will be participating in holiday themed events and service projects. Troops may be attending a performance of “The Nutcracker,” making cards to deliver to a nursing home or collecting food or toiletries for the needy. The Girl Scout Christmas tree at the Museum of Natural Science has often displayed ornaments made by local troops and we expect that tradition will continue this year! On February 19th, we will be celebrating “World Thinking Day,” as we learn more about Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries. Other activities are being planned for later in the year. This year’s Girl Scout Cookie Sale will begin on December 19th, so be on the lookout for Girl Scouts in your neighborhood! Girl Scouting is open to all girls ages 5 (must be in kindergarten) through 18 who are willing to accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Girls may join at any level and no previous Scouting experience is required. It is never too late to sign up! The Houston Choral Society (HCS) presents an afternoon of festive entertainment with its special Christmas matinee concert, “Believe,” on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at The Foundry United Methodist Church, beginning at 3 PM. This family-oriented concert of joyful music is under the direction of Artistic Director Dr. Betty Devine. Friday, December 11th and Saturday, December 12th Proceeds from the Christmas Home Tour help Child Advocates of Fort Bend (CAFB) advocate for the needs of abused and neglected children in this community. Through its two programs, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), the agency touches the lives of more than 400 young victims each month. A Fort Bend holiday tradition, the Tour offers guests the opportunity to view beautifully decorated homes in Fort Bend County while helping to raise much needed funds to support CAFB’s programs serving abused and neglected children. Shalom Cypress was established in 2011 by local families seeking a Jewish presence in Northwest Houston. We are the closest synagogue within 25 miles of the nearest synagogue. Many thought that they were the only Jews in the Cypress area, but it turns out that they were wrong! Shalom Cypress has grown to more than 30 afﬁliated families. Shalom Cypress Hebrew School is now open for enrollment for the Spring 2016 year. This upcoming year Morah Rina is going to concentrate on conversational Hebrew with the children. HOUSTON CY-FAIR LIONS CLUB TO OFFER FREE VISION SCREENING

Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club will conduct FREE vision screening to children from six months of age and older at the Jersey Village Holiday in the Park, to be held Sunday December 6th, from 1-4 PM at Clark Henry Park. This vision screening uses a unique special camera that takes a photo of the child’s eyes and within seconds relates a pass or refer status. Those with the refer status will need to have a professional eye examination at a local optometrist. Vision problems are the leading disability in children, who are unaware that they cannot see properly. They cannot compare their vision to others and vision problems do not cause pain or inﬂammation, so parents, teachers and caregivers are unaware that the child has visual difﬁculties. Eighty percent of learning is visual. The Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club has recently purchased the Plusoptix Vision Screener for this community service project. This is part of a nationwide KidSight initiative through Lions Clubs International to screen children early for vision problems. Houston Family Arts Center (HFAC) announces OPEN Auditions for the ﬁnal three shows in their 2015-2016 season. Auditions are Saturday, December 5th with callbacks, if necessary, on Sunday, December 6th by invitation only. Open auditions and casting will be for all parts in all shows. The shows being auditioned for are: • The Foreigner runs March 11-April 3, 2016. If necessary, production auditions will be in early January and rehearsals will begin mid-January. • Damn Yankees runs April 22-May 15, 2016. Production auditions are early February and rehearsals will begin shortly after auditions. Auditions will include a dance audition to determine your dancing skill level. • Amadeus runs June 3-26, 2016. Production auditions will be late March and rehearsals will begin shortly after auditions. Auditions are open to the community and all parts may be cast with actors of any ethnicity.
