Ensure that those who reside on their property (tenants, relatives & friends) adhere to all rules and regulations. Homeowners can learn more living in a HOA Community at caionline.org.
IMPORTANCE OF YEARLY ASSESSMENTS OUR COMMUNITY’S FOUNDATION
It’s that time of year our annual assessments will be due. These fees are very important part of the HOA’s function. In order for the association to perform the many tasks and duties for which it is responsible, the association must have operating funds.
2
These funds are used to pay for landscape maintenance, sprinkler repairs, utilities, administration and help to keep an adequate reserve fund for major repairs or replacement of common property elements. The requirement upon an owner for paying assessments is mandatory and therefore, legally binding according to the association’s governing documents. The amount of the annual assessment is established each year by the association’s Board of Directors based upon the Board’s adoption of the annual budget. If a situation arises that you are unable to pay this assessment, please contact the Management Team as soon as possible for details about payment and collection procedures. Accounts that become delinquent may receive a fine, a late fee or other charges added to the assessment which can be more costly if not paid in a timely procedure.
THE STONE CREST CRIER NEEDS YOU
A year ago, one of our volunteers established this free newsletter as a way keep our community informed and share information at no cost to the community. Today, the Communication’s Committee is looking for a volunteer(s) to continue writing our monthly newsletter, The Stone Crest Crier, for the coming year. If you are interested in doing so, you may contact our association manager.
THE STONE CREST COMMUNITY OUR CONCLUDING STAGE
In 2005, a group of developers set out to create our community of 434 homes in the outskirts of Katy with plenty of nearby amenities. Ten years later with the final homes being built, our community’s master plan is nearly complete. During this time, the Stone Crest Homeowners Association was established in order to enforce Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions and maintain, enhance and protect the value of common property and the neighborhood as a whole. By purchasing a home within a HOA, you acknowledged that you are a member and will pay these assessments and abide by the community’s covenants. This includes any residents who rent or lease their homes, through your landlord’s lease you are still legally bound to abide by the rules. Scheduled drive-through inspections of the community are

made to ensure there are no issues with the common property or any covenant violations. If there is an issue, you may get a notice. The inspection letters are just to bring an issue to the homeowner’s attention. We do understand if the grass was high because your tools were not working or you were out of town. Please contact management if a situation like this happens. Unfortunately, in the rare case where a homeowner routinely refuses to adhere to the covenants, further action may be taken, but generally the notices are just to ensure that you know that we are aware of the issue. If there is a violation, a notice is sent and a reasonable time frame is allowed to bring the issue into compliance. If you have questions about a specific problem or the process, please contact someone from our management team.

Let’s share the holiday spirit with neighbors and friends by making our community a friendly & great place to live. We ask your assistance in ensuring that everyone enjoys living in our community. Please join us and help us in doing this by abiding by the community’s guidelines and regulations. • Always be neighborly & considerate to your neighbors. • Become involved in the community. Keep our community thriving & beautiful. • Do not block driveways or sidewalks that may inconvenience neighbors & pedestrians. • Refrain from parking on the grass or curbs - inform your guest(s) about this. • Refrain from parking your vehicle in front of neighbor’s homes, which may inconvenience them. • Do not impede the flow of traffic or cause street congestion. Always utilize your driveways and garages to park your vehicles - narrow roads may block access for emergency vehicles. • Pet owners remember to clean up after your pet. Control barking & use a leash when walking. • Keep all music & noise levels to a minimum and abide by the County’s ordinance.

fee also depends on each of our resident’s ability to pay their dues on time and the ability to adhere to the rules. There has been an increase of extra cost because of non-compliance notices, second notices or letters being sent. These amounts quickly add up when residents do not take responsibility to adhere to the rules. These letters or notices can be avoided by being in compliance. Please do your part to avoid them and notify the management about any problems.

KATY ISD PROMISE TO READ
We recognize that not everyone has unlimited time to volunteer. But we are thankful that, every year, hundreds of people have time to read to our children. Promise to Read brings Katy’s business community into elementary schools each November, allowing adults to share their love of reading and allowing children to indulge their love of being read to. From Alcott to Zalbern, wockets in pockets to monsters in closets, guest readers sit down in little chairs in front of little faces and the room is transformed. Promise to Read is a tradition in Katy with many of our readers having participated since the program’s inception in 1997. Some bring their own books from home - others let the librarian or teacher choose one for them. But in either case, everyone agrees it’s the best 30 minutes they’ll spend all week. For more information, contact Heather Sanders at 281-3962645.
KATY ISD FOOD FOR FAMILIES
November 1st - December 11th - In 2014, our Katy ISD community raised over $25,000 helping 502 students and their families in our district. This wonderful initiative, held each December, allows the community of Katy to bring a little joy into the homes of some of our students and their families. Principals identify students for the program, and Partners in Education collects community and corporate donations. Grocery gift cards in the amount of $50, along with a note of support from the Katy ISD community, are then delivered to each student by a campus staff member. If interested in making a contribution, make checks payable to Katy ISD Food for Families. Any contribution amount is accepted. Mail or deliver check/cash to Katy ISD Partners in Education, 6301 South Stadium Lane, Room 1520, Katy, Texas 77494. For more information, contact Tammy Stringer at tammyrstringer@katyisd.org or 281-396-2645.
KATY ISD JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We’re proud to point out that Katy ISD has the largest Junior Achievement program in the world. So by the time our kids start their senior year in high school they’re completely familiar with JA, beginning in kindergarten when they learned about visiting a farm and planting a garden. Junior Achievement is a great venue for volunteering because it allows folks to build a relationship with students in a classroom. Volunteers attend training hosted by one of our on-site JA staff and are given a satchel full of materials pertinent to the class they’re teaching. And whether the lesson is about opening a donut shop or investing in the stock market, students all learn about work-readiness, entrepreneurship and how to dream big in the business world. Although numerous Katy ISD Junior Achievement classes are taught by parents, we have an impressive cadre of businesses who step up to do their part, with some companies “adopting” an entire school’s program. Whether you’re interested in teaching JA in a day at the junior high level or teaching five one-hour classes at an elementary school, it’s the perfect way to have some face time with a classroom full of kids. For more information, contact Necole Gibson at 281-396-2439.

mentors and students engage in a variety of activities - and although they may help with academics, mentors are not tutors. In Katy ISD, KEYS offers four opportunities for those who wish to join our KEYS mentor family: Traditional Mentoring - Pairs one mentor with one child once a week. KSR (Katy Students Run) - Matches running coaches with high school students as they prepare for the Houston Half Marathon. Mentor Buddies - Offers every other week option for volunteers. Two mentors partner in mentoring the same student, coordinating their schedule so the child sees one of them at the same time each week. Dads with Dads - Places experienced Dads from the community who collectively coordinate their schedules to meet with groups of young high school fathers. KEYS is offered at every Katy ISD campus, each of which has a staff liaison who oversees the school’s program. All mentors must make a one school year commitment to a student and complete an application and background check. For more information, contact Martha Brown at 281-396-2468.
