FALL REGISTRATION
August 3 & 4
TWIN LAKES SHARE & PRAYER GROUP Psalm 51:6: “Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.” The opening session of a five week series entitled Sacred Secrets which began Monday, July 13th cracks open the doorway to an intriguing and quite powerful idea: that although “the world is obsessed with telling secrets for the sake of sensationalism, not all hidden things are poisonous and dark. Some secrets are forgiven, some are covered and some are kept between you and God.” This study/pursuit is about walking forward into a relationship with Christ that is exceedingly more intimate and rewarding. May God invite you to embrace a new journey, finding Him in those secret places where He longs for you to find him. This open group is meeting every Monday night in Twin Lakes homes. Please contact Carol Monahan at 713-3059809 or at carol.monahan@me.com.

TLWA COFFEE MORNING We would like to invite you to our TLWA Coffee Morning. We meet most Thursdays, from 10 AM to noon. We socialize, drink coffee and enjoy a light refreshment. Some of us bring a small individual project to work on (like a hobby or paperwork), but it is okay just to come, even for a little while. On the first Thursday of the month, we usually meet at the Twin Lakes Clubhouse. On the other Thursdays, we alternate meeting at members’ homes. To find out where we are meeting, email lahalter@gmail.com or call Linda Halter at 832-814- 0335. We hope you will join us, with or without something to work on. Twin Lakes

GARDEN TIPS FOR AUGUST • Time now to make plans for fall landscaping projects. • Clean up flowerbeds of fallen foliage, yellowed leaves and dead wood. Light green leaves may signify lack of iron (chlorosis). Correct with iron cheleates. • Cut off old dead foliage on irises. Scratch in a little bone meal around the roots. • Prune roses to reshape and groom plants for fall growth. • Wait until November to plant petunias and pansies. • Chinch bug damage is obvious now. You will have areas of thin and/or dead turf where they weren’t brought under control. There is a new generation going now. This batch causes the most damage. Use Dursban to stop the damage. • Until the weather gets back to the 80’s, St. Augustine grass grows slowly. If you fill in with sod, don’t expect a fast turnaround. The sod may look like it’s not growing while it puts down roots. You will need to water the new sod often and deeply to get it started but this also creates a disease environment. Water early so the sun can dry the turf. • Now is a good time to work new beds. Till them up, add organic material, mix it in, then let them cure for a month or so. Add in any amendments like micro-nutrients. Keep the beds moist so the microorganisms have a favorable environment.

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ?
We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through August. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA - COPPERHEAD DISTRICT For 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, outdoor skills and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives. The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to: • Try new things. • Provide service to others. • Build self-confidence. • Reinforce ethical standards. Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as individuals while promoting activities that lead to personal responsibility and high self-esteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made, peer pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made. Scouting provides a rewarding experience for boys ages 5 to 21. Scouting through the local Packs and Troops teach outdoor and life skills which help our youth Be Prepared. 2015 • 1776 - Closing this exciting season, July 24th - August 16th, is the American musical, 1776. With revolutionary immediacy, our lofty founding fathers are found to be genuine people who debate, bargain and fray one another’s nerves as they struggle on the tortuous road to independence. This musical witness to the creation of one of the most eloquent documents in history will stir the soul of every American. All performances are on the HFAC Garza Mainstage, recently named “Houston’s Best Gem of a Theatre” by the Houston Press, except for Peter Pan, which will be performed at the Berry Center. Season subscriptions packages are now available for purchase for the 2014-2015 season. Season subscriptions offer incentives and discounts to new and returning patrons for every performance and packages start as low as $100. Mildred’s Umbrella Theatre Company has been selected for an NEA Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for our upcoming production of the Houston Premiere of The Drowning Girls by Beth Graham, Charlie Tomlinson, Daniela Vlaskalic. In addition, the company has received a Brown Foundation Discretionary Fund Grant for operations in our upcoming season. These grants are highly competitive and we are proud to have been among the recipients. The Drowning Girls, a modern interpretation and poetic retelling of the “Brides in the Bath” slayings in 20th century England. The work also examines the lengthy history of misogyny and domestic abuse in modern civilization. Originally produced in Canada for the Edmonton Fringe Festival, the work will debut in Houston on July 16, 2015 and will run for 12 performances through August 1, 2015. In line with MU’s mission to promote and support the work of women, the play, written by three female playwrights, illustrates how far women have come in the fight for equality in the past 100 years. He’s about 3 years old, he likes to sleep with his humans at night and he loves attention. Benjamin is pretty shy and gets easily startled, but he likes to go outside for a bit, as long as he can run right back in at the first sign of danger! He would do best in a quiet household because of his dislike of loud or sudden noises and he would love to be an only cat. Benjamin is up-to-date on rabies & flea treatment, litter-box trained and neutered. Contact 281-250-3266 to arrange a meeting.
