TREE TRIMMING FOR SAFETY
As VLP approaches its nearly 16th birthday, many of our trees have grown beautifully and are now well established. However, many of these great trees are now in need of some trimming, as they obstruct roadways, street signs and the sidewalks. School busses and trucks have difficulty getting up and down Sagewood Bend without driving in the middle of the street and many homeowners complain of not being able to walk on the sidewalks due to low hanging branches. Please be aware that you are responsible for the condition of your tree branches and are the responsible party if someone gets hurt while on your property. Please take a look at your trees to determine if they need attention. There are many companies available to trim these trees in order to make it safer for everyone out and about in VLP.
VLP COMMUNITY POOL
Sweetwater Pools manages the pools at VLP. The pool in Villages at Lakepointe is open Tuesdays-Sundays, 6 AM-10 PM year round for your enjoyment. It is CLOSED on Monday for chemical applications. Please consider the pool rules while visiting the recreational areas. As a reminder, pool parties are not allowed at the pool. In addition, private swim lessons are not allowed at the community pool due to vendor and insurance compliance. A complete list of rules is posted at the pool. ** Pool cards have been updated for the season. Please remember, residences that are behind on HOA dues will not have an active pool card. For other issues with a card or if you need to order another one, please contact Kris Bradshaw at FSR. If you need to report an issue at the pool, Deputy Glentzer can be reached at 713-471-1882 or dial 911. If there is an issue with the pool itself, Sweetwater’s contact number is 281-988-8480. Together, we can help keep the community in top shape for all residents to enjoy.

NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES ON THE GREENBELT
Please note that motorized vehicles, including 4 wheelers and dirt bikes, should be not used on the greenbelt areas. This is a common area for all residents to enjoy and safety is an issue.
VLP HOLIDAY SAFETY TIPS
Officer Glentzer shared valuable information regarding safety this Holiday Season. Please collect your packages each day when they are delivered, as thieves are more than ready to take parcels left on doorsteps. When shopping or stopping at the bank, be aware of your surroundings and ALWAYS lock your car. Please be sure to follow these tips to safeguard your homes: • Activate your alarm when leaving • Lock all windows and doors before leaving • Place a lock on your gate so would be burglars do not have access to your backyard • Check into updating and upgrading your alarm system and test it for accuracy • Place alarm signs/stickers in visible places • Make sure each of your vehicles has a VLP sticker displayed • Get to know your neighbors and become familiar with their vehicles - notice cars that seem suspicious • Contact our very own Deputy Glentzer at 713-471-1882 if you will be away so he can keep an eye on your home

While we all love home improvements, please be sure to obtain approval prior to beginning. A complete list of the deed restrictions can be found on the website, as well as through FirstService Residential. These items are mandatory, meaning all residents must abide by them. Things such as landscaping, painting or staining, adding iron driveway fences, mailboxes, storm doors and additions such as sheds, gates or pergolas are on the list. The Cypress Ridge High School Symphony Orchestra will be joining an elite group of musicians with its invitation to the 69th annual Midwest Clinic in Chicago. The Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference, the world’s largest instrumental music education conference, is scheduled for December 16th - 19th. Cypress Ridge is the first orchestra from Cypress-Fairbanks ISD to be chosen to perform. The 110 member Cypress Ridge Symphony Orchestra is among six international high school orchestras that will perform at the conference. Every year, groups of every type and size from all over the world apply for the honor of performing at the conference. The Cypress Ridge Symphony Orchestra was chosen based on its excellent resume of past contest performances and on a recorded audition submitted in March. BOY SCOUTS BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA COPPERHEAD DISTRICT
For 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, selfconfidence, ethics, leadership skills, outdoor skills and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives. The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to: • Try new things. • Provide service to others. • Build self-confidence. • Reinforce ethical standards. Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as individuals while promoting activities that lead to personal responsibility and high self-esteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made, peer pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made. Scouting provides a rewarding experience for boys ages 5 to 21. Scouting through the local Packs and Troops teach outdoor and life skills which help our youth Be Prepared. Your area is serviced by the BSA Sam Houston Area Counsel - Copperhead District which includes 23 Cub Scout Packs (boys 5 to 10 years old), 13 Troops (boys from 11 to 18 years old) and 10 Venturing units (boys and girls from 14 to 21). TROOP 1296 EAGLE SCOUT CANDIDATE DAWSON BENNETT
Eagle scout candidate Dawson Bennett raised funds to support the building of 100 “Whisper Phones” for use in Copeland Elementary school. As a former Copeland Colt, Dawson chose a project that would give back to a school that he says “taught him so much.” Whisper Phones are a literacy tool that allows a student to whisper into it when reading aloud, which then amplifies their voice, allowing the student to hear their sounds and words distinctly. It also decreases noise levels in the classroom! If you are interested in joining Boy Scouts, please call Troop 1296 Committee Chair Mr. David Covington, at 281-855-2239. Boy Scout Troop 1296 meets weekly on Tuesday evenings at 7 PM during the school year. Meetings include activities, skill sessions and planning for our monthly camp outs. Come join the fun!

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ?
We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through December. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

Vision Screening
HOUSTON CY-FAIR LIONS CLUB TO OFFER FREE VISION SCREENING
Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club will conduct FREE vision screening to children from six months of age and older at the Jersey Village Holiday in the Park, to be held Sunday December 6th, from 1-4 PM at Clark Henry Park. This vision screening uses a unique special camera that takes a photo of the child’s eyes and within seconds relates a pass or refer status. Those with the refer status will need to have a professional eye examination at a local optometrist. Vision problems are the leading disability in children, who are unaware that they cannot see properly. They cannot compare their vision to others and vision problems do not cause pain or inflammation, so parents, teachers and caregivers are unaware that the child has visual difficulties. Eighty percent of learning is visual. The Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club has recently purchased the Plusoptix Vision Screener for this community service project. This is part of a nationwide KidSight initiative through Lions Clubs International to screen children early for vision problems. Please bring your children to the Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club booth at Holiday in the Park for this important screening, which takes only a minute. To schedule a free vision screening at your day care or church, please contact: Sandy Martin, Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club Vision Screening Program, 281-550-2798 or bikee77095@yahoo.com.
