VANDALISM IN COMMUNITY

In the past, Westheimer Lakes has been the target of numerous acts of vandalism. The POA believes that some of this vandalism may be occurring from individuals in the community. When items such as street signs, park signs, windows, lights are in need of replacement as result of this vandalism, your POA bears this expense. As a reminder, please beware of your surroundings and should you see any suspicious activity in the community please contact the Sherriff’s department (281-341-4665) immediately.

LET US KEEP OUR NEIGHBORHOODS LITTER FREE!

Take responsibility for yourself and be a good neighbor! Keep our streets and neighborhood trash and litter free! Make it a habit, be a good neighbor and do your part! If each person did their own part (around the outside of their home including their little stretch of street in front of their house), what a better place this would be to live! A clean environment/neighborhood makes people feel good about themselves. They will keep it clean. Some need to be reminded. Others need to be continually reminded. It takes time to change habits. Keeping your neighborhood clean is a habit that takes conscious effort.

NO DUMPING IN EMPTY LOTS

Please help us keep our community clean by NOT DUMPING trash and debris onto empty lots. Neighbors please report violators and be ready to provide license plate number and photo or any other pertinent information.

BASKETBALL GOALS

Basketball is a fun sport that many like to play. As a reminder, please make sure that all basketball goals are kept in an upright position in your driveway. Leaving Basketball goals in the street can be a nuisance to drivers in the community and a hazard should there be a need for an emergency vehicle to gain access to your street. UNWANTED SOLICITORS

NO SOLICITING signs are posted throughout the entrances of the community. “The River” United Methodist Church, an exciting new church in our community, would like to invite you to participate in one of our local bible studies. Each “REAL Group” meets for about an hour to discuss topics of interest to the group. The discussions are grounded in the Word of God. Everyone is encouraged to drop the façade of having it all together and rather be honest about their lives, their struggles, their triumphs and their relationships with God. In fact, no perfect people are allowed in The River’s REAL Groups.

4. Senior Assisted Living facilities: our senior citizens are the most neglected group of people. Coordinate a magazine drive and donate magazines to a local residential living center, sing holiday carols or better yet, visit and speak with the residents and offer holiday cheer. 5. Star of Hope: prepare or serve meals, read to children, join a prayer group. There is something for everyone here.

8 TIPS TO MANAGE HOLIDAY SPENDING Think you can’t get through the holidays without spending a fortune? Read on for some tips on how to make this season a spending holiday, rather than getting wrapped up in holiday spending. 1. Set Limits for Total Holiday Spending: Give your credit card and your mind a holiday by limiting what you buy to what can safely come out of your bank account. The money you can reasonably spend on gifts is money that isn’t going to bills. 2. Make Your Own “Naughty” or “Nice” Lists: If your shopping list includes more than five people outside of your immediate family, cut down on the number of people on your present list. Then, bake some cookies to give to all the people you snipped from your original gift list. 3. Budget Based on Your Own Finances: If you have any doubts as to whether those on your list will appreciate the less expensive presents you buy them, think back to what your friends and family gave to you when their budgets were tighter. 4. Become a Coupon and Coupon Code Collector: Before you shop online or in stores, perform a quick web search for coupon codes for your favorite online stores and also comb through the coupons you received in your mailbox.

14

5. Give Your Time: Mom and Dad (or other far-away family and friends) might love nothing more than a visit from you. Give small gifts and large hugs. However, if you’re tight on cash and want to send a gift, try a calling card. 6. Give Yourself a Better Spending Habit: Give yourself a gift by developing a new and improved spending habit. For example, for every dollar you spend on gifts, you could find a way to remove that dollar from your regular spending. 7. Give Personalized Gifts Instead of Expensive Gifts: A small, thoughtful gift is worth more than an expensive gift that someone may never use. Avoid impulses to shop at trendy department stores and start the holiday by taking a moment to think about what those on your list could really use. 8. Organize Group Volunteering Instead of Holiday Parties: Your friends probably struggle with overspending as much as you do over the holidays. Give them the relief of forgoing buying gifts for you by organizing a group volunteer day instead. THE BOTTOM LINE: Don’t let your debt become the Scrooge that steals the fun out of your holiday season. Spend time with your friends and family, base your gift buying on sentiment rather than dollar value and avoid giving yourself a year-round debt headache. If you can follow these tips, when your holiday bank statements arrive in the New Year, you’ll find yourself singing “Joy to the World” all over again. Courtesy of Investopedia.com

Your Neighborhood Realtor

Sell with Confidence!

David is just wonderful! He was both my agent for selling and then for purchasing my new home. I simply cannot say enough about how positive my experience was with David. He is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, patient, and was genuinely interested in selling my home in Westheimer Lakes and helping me find the right home to purchase. I always felt at ease with David. He went out of his way to assist me throughout the entire home selling process, getting me over asking price, and negotiating a phenomenal deal on the new house. I never felt pressured to make a decision – that was incredibly important to me as both a Seller and a Buyer. He understands the market and negotiated both deals with sensational results. I can truly say that David was not just a realtor, but a friend. I promise, using David as your realtor, you won’t be disappointed. -Pat Swigeart-
