There has been an increase in the number of reports of residents operating businesses from their homes. Most noticeably – car repair businesses are on the rise! Please be aware that this is strictly prohibited and the homeowner will be pursued for this by the Association, which could mean legal pursuit and fees incurred, which could be substantial! These businesses detract from the community and make it look like a used car lot in front of some of the homes. In addition, garage sales are limited to 2 per YEAR and no selling of food from the homes, which is a health code violation as well.

BACK TO SCHOOL: STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES
The children will be going back to school on August 27, 2012. The school buses will be in the subdivision in the early and mid-morning and mid-afternoon hours. Remember, that you must stop when a school bus is stopped with well. This includes six lane roads such as Fry Road near Younglake. Two or three buses each day pick up and drop off children at that location, which is an apartment complex. The costs for a ticket of this particular violation are substantial. Drive carefully in the subdivision and watch for school buses in the neighborhoods as well as on the arterial roadways. DPS as well

It is a duty of all drivers to know this and be very vigilant while driving in the neighborhoods.

Exercise extreme caution when the children return to school on August 27, 2012. Please understand that these are children who have been on summer vacation for nearly three months and might not think about checking the street for fast moving vehicles as they walk to their bus stop or exit the bus after school. There are rules to be followed at the swimming pools, which are posted. Those who do not follow the rules will be told to leave and your pool ID card may be detained by the pool company. Residents are expected to be courteous and respectful to the lifeguard at all times. Do not argue and yell at the lifeguard! That behavior is not productive and only aggravates the situation and could cost you your pool privileges for the remainder of the year. If you don’t agree with a policy that is being enforced, contact Crest Management at 281579-0761 and discuss your concern with the Community Manager. Parents, please instruct your young children and teenagers about the proper behavior at the swimming pools. We want the swim season to be enjoyable for everyone!
STREET PARKING RULES ENFORCED IN NEIGHBORHOODS
Once again, we are seeing vehicles that are inoperable parked on wheel(s), a smashed windshield, obvious damage that prohibits driving the vehicle, etc. These vehicles will be cited. Recently two vehicles were towed at the owners’ expense from Westlake and Westlake Forest because they were parked on the street and were inoperable or had exceeded the 48 hour parking rule. Some of our residents are not aware of the trash collection procedures to be followed in the community. Trashcans or bags may be placed at the curb on trash days (Wednesday and Saturday) and then need to be removed the same day and stored so that these can no longer be seen from the street. The side of the house and driveways are not where the trashcans should be stored. The management company has been citing for this on their inspections. It makes the home look unsightly when trash and/or cans are left out in open view on a daily basis and detracts from the value of the home.

WILLIAMS NAMED PRINCIPAL OF STANLEY ELEMENTARY During the May 21st Board of Trustees meeting, Superintendent Alton Frailey announced Heather Williams, current assistant principal of Kilpatrick Elementary, as the new principal of Stanley Elementary. This comes after Stanley Elementary Principal Kerri Finnesand, took the roll of principal at WoodCreek Junior High. Williams started her educational career in 1997 as a fourth grade teacher in Alief ISD. From there, she continued to grow to positions of increasing responsibility, moving to Lamar Consolidated ISD in 2002 and Katy ISD in 2008. Her experience includes serving as a gifted and talented facilitator, a team leader for 4th and 5th grades, a campus instructional technology specialist and an assistant principal at the elementary level. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies/Elementary Education from Stephen F. Austin University and a Masters of Education Administration and Supervision from the ESOL, English Endorsement, Reading Endorsement, Generalist/
KATY ISD ANNOUNCES NEW LUNCH PRICES FOR 2012 – 2013 During the May 21st meeting, the Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved a meal price increase for the 2012 – 2013 academic year. New lunch prices go into effect next fall and are as follows: Elementary – Lunch price increases by .10¢, from $1.80 to $1.90. Junior High – Maintains current price of $2. Each child needs to attend an evaluation, not for the whole two hours but for about 20 minutes. Evaluations will be Tuesday and Thursday, September 4th and 6th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM in the back behind our parking lot. On Saturday, September 8th between the hours of 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Cost is $75. We will be holding a clinic for the league on Saturday, September 22nd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in our week of September 12th. October 13th and go through November 17th.
