emergencies or emergency vehicle to be able to pass. Try to keep your area open so those needing to use the streets will have a clear passage. A friendly reminder the street is not a safe place where children should be playing. Our subdivision has had too much traffic and people using this as a short cut to get to where they are traveling to. Most travelers neglect to notice children, drive slow be cautious. HARRIS COUNTY CURFEW TO BE STRICTLY ENFORCED The Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies will be strictly enforcing curfew, zero tolerance. Most parents are unaware that Harris County has a curfew. Children under the age of 17 must be in at midnight (12 AM). Parent’s need to make sure that their children are at home the entire night. If children are caught wandering around at late hours after midnight, the Harris County Sheriff’s will give them a citation. This is a class C misdemeanor; both the child and the parent must appear in front of court and pay a fine. Usually it will take all day to take care of this and the fine may exceed $150.
OUR COMMUNITY SECURITY SUPPLEMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT
Westlake Place HOA-Board of Directors have hired off-duty deputies employed with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for our community. A friendly reminder from Westlake Place HOA-Board of Directors, having security does not mean you should not secure your own property or not be responsible for your own security. Take time to make sure your vehicles are locked, parked in the garage if you can. That is the safest place for your vehicle. When leaving your home make sure to lock all doors, secure the windows and lock the garage doors. Also, when leaving at night one deterrent is a well-lit area, so keep the lights on outside your home. Get to know your neighbors and be vigilant of your surroundings. The Board’s number one priority is trying to keep the entire subdivision safer and informed.

a human life is at risk call 9-1-1. If at any time someone observes a suspicious person or vehicle in the subdivision they should not hesitate in reporting it to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The first thing a resident should do is contacting the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to file report. There are three ways to do this. If your incident is an emergency, call 9-1-1, if non-emergency call 713-221-6000 or use the Harris County Sheriff’s online reporting system: www.hcso. hctx.net/LeadinHtml_TxHarrisCountySo/start-report.html Some resident may feel a sighting such as this may be “nothing:” yet it is better to be safe than sorry. Again, let’s be the eyes and ears for the law enforcement. On-going activity can be reported to Gail Mayfield our Security Supplement Liaison at 281-467-0548. There are four ways to report crime tips: • Online at iWatchHarrisCounty.com • Text a tip to 1-855-HCSO-iWatch (1-855-427-6492) • Use the downloadable app found on iWatchHarrisCounty.com • Call 1-855-HCSO-iWatch (1-855-427-6492) iWatchHarrisCounty is for submitting crime tips only, not emergencies. Emergency calls should be made to 9-1-1.
ARCHITECTURAL FORM/ HOME IMPROVEMENT FORM
All residents must complete a home improvement form for all improvements, including but not limited to: repainting (even the same color), re-roofing, new siding, sheds or outbuildings, new garage doors and basketball goals. The ACC approval must be given in advance prior to the work being started. We have specific guidelines for sheds and outbuildings. Call ACMP 281-855-9867 to request a form. TRASH CANS SHOULD BE USED FOR TRASH PICK UP TRASH PICK-UP STICKERS BELONG ON TRASH CANS
The trash pickup sticker you receive each quarter shows you have paid your invoice and are a valid customer. It contains your address and the expiration date. The sticker is designed to be placed on the trashcan please do not place these stickers on your mailbox. These stickers occasionally won’t stick even to a garbage can; use a heavyduty tape when this occurs. Trash will not be picked up if the sticker is not on the trashcan and they will not pick up the trash at your residence if you have not paid. Do not place these stickers on your mailbox. Do not leave your trashcans out for an extended period of time. Remove your cans from the street as soon as possible. The stickers and the trashcans might be stolen. Some of our residents are unclear on the concept of putting trashcans at the curb for collection days (Tuesday and Friday). Trash can be put out after 5 PM the night prior to the scheduled collection day.
POSTING OF GARAGE SALE SIGNS
Please be aware that taping a sign of any kind to a stop sign or a road sign IS AGAINST THE LAW and could result in our deputies issuing you a citation. The correct way in our subdivision is using a staked sign place your address, time and date and remove later on that day or as soon as the event is over. This is the only acceptable way to post such signs. If posting a sign on a resident’s property, please ask for prior permission as a courtesy. If a resident places a garage sale sign in median of the front or back entrance and if this results in any type of damage to the sprinkler system, you will be charged for any needed

For those interested, the website address to do this is http://cnp.centerpointenergy.com/ outage Anyone noticing a streetlight that is out or some other malfunction is encouraged to report the problem to Center Point via either these two methods without delay. Our association is charged for every streetlight each month, irrespective of whether or not the light is functioning. So please help us get value for your hard earned money! Keeping our community well lit up is a good way to help prevent crime in our subdivision. Please help! We encourage all resident’s to join in and help us maintain this issue. Possible ways to report outage: l. Phone- call it in 2. Internet Access THANK YOU FOR HELPING US IN SUBSTAINING THE STREET LIGHT OUTAGES! Time now to make plans for fall landscaping projects. • Clean up flowerbeds of fallen foliage, yellowed leaves and dead wood. Light green leaves may signify lack of iron (chlorosis). Correct with iron cheleates. • Cut off old dead foliage on irises. Scratch in a little bone meal around the roots. • Prune roses to reshape and groom plants for fall growth. Follow up with a dose of fertilizer the first week of September. • Plants come out of summer rest and go crazy. Insect populations explode as we get into cooler temperatures. Diseases that have been dormant wake up. - Citrus, croton, avocado and mango are susceptible to spider mites and thrips. Discourage them with a strong jet of water from a hose directed to the undersides of the leaves. - Hibiscus, citrus, palms, gardenia and ixora are susceptible to scale and mealybug. • Winter vegetable gardens and perennials get planted. • Wait until November to plant petunias and pansies.

GARDEN TIPS FOR SEPTEMBER
MEMBER
Greater Houston
• Fire ants baits should be put out in September-October to lessen the number of eggs that make it to Spring. • St. Augustine grass gets its fall fertilizer during September. Continue to mow at maximum height. You want to leave a lot of leaf surface to produce carbohydrate reserves for the winter. • Keep an eye out for sod webworms. First sign of them is grass that appears to stop growing. You need to get them early for biological controls to work. When the caterpillars are only 1/4 inch, Bacillus thuringiensis applications can slow them. Bt is a bacteria that works on the caterpillars’ digestive systems and makes them stop feeding. Do the application late in the day. The larvae feed at night and you want them to get nice fresh Bt. • When the heat and drought end, the weather could bring brown patch disease in the St. Augustine grass. Watch for yellowish spots if the nights drop into the 60’s and days stay in the 80’s. • Get any pruning of hedges and such done now. You want the flush of new growth to be hardened-off before the end of October. Tree pruning should be put off until winter, when the trees are dormant. • Pre-emerge herbicide applications targeting annual bluegrass and the earlier-germinating winter broadleaf weeds needed to be put out starting in mid-August.
32-ACRE PARK BEING BUILT
Located immediately west of 99/Grand Parkway and north of Cinco Ranch High School, a new 32-acre park is being developed by Willow Fork Drainage District in collaboration with Katy ISD and Fort Bend County. The 32-Acre park, which is part of Phase II in Willow Fork Drainage District’s parks master plan, is being funded through bond proceeds and will be constructed in 2015. The passive-use park will provide residents with another high-quality recreational environment. The project is improving and transforming 32 acres of flat parkland into a multipurpose environment with compelling topographical undulations, multipurpose open lawns, trails, lakes and other recreational features. A series of large rolling hills, some rising as high as 20 feet, will be established, creating topographical interest and play opportunities throughout the park. Additional park components will include boardwalks traversing onsite wetlands, a pedestrian bridge, a pavilion and restroom facility, park lighting powered by solar energy, rock outcroppings, bio swales, potential public art installations and educational signage. http://willowforkdrainagedistrict.com/parks/32-acre-park/
