BOARD ANNOUNCED DECISIONS MADE DURING EXECUTIVE SESSION During executive session, the Board reviewed each deed restriction matter. Total violations noted for the month were three hundred thirty (330). The Board unanimously agreed to send three (3) violations to the Association attorney for legal action. Those accounts have been properly noticed as required, Per the Board’s instructions, violation letters were sent to residents for storing trash cans and recycle bins in public view. PCMI reported there had been complaints from residents regarding only one trash day a week and the size of the recycle bin. The Board instructed PCMI to continue to send the violation letters. The three residents present preferred two days a week pick up and one resident said they were adjusting to the one day a week. There was a letter received from a homeowner expressing her frustration at receiving notices in the mail requesting her to store her recycle bin out of public view. Because the decision was made by the Municipal Utility District Number 2 (MUD #2), the Board agreed during the pool registration they will be asking residents what they think about the trash change and present OLD BUSINESS It was reported the trees in the pool area will be trimmed Friday, May 11, 2012. POOL REPAIR The Board explained the pool turned green and it was discovered media replaced and now the pool is in good condition.

NEW BUSINESS John Eberlan reported that the lock and plate had been broken on one of the gates and people were locked in the playground, so he went over and unlocked the playground to let them out. A homeowner asked if Highway 99 is going to be cutting through to Stratford house. The Board did not know the answer. With no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 6:20 PM. Shelli Shaw, Secretary

CURFEW REMINDER

We would like to remind residents that being in Harris County means those under the age of 18 must not be roaming the streets after midnight. Any children spotted after midnight should be reported to Most of the trouble we have in the subdivision that is attributed to mischievous minors occurs after the curfew. Once park hours are posted, anyone in the park after hours will be charged with trespassing.

GARAGE SALE SIGNS

To all Williamsburg Colony residents, garage sales are great, we can increase our attic and closet space, locate things we forgot that we had and most important, make a few extra bucks. The one thing that is sometimes forgotten is the placement and removal of our garage sale signs. So please neighbors, if and when you have a garage sale, let’s try and remember not to place garage sale signs on any of our community signs or poles. Also, remove signs that are staked when your garage sale is complete. Cleaner streets do make a difference.

Animals that are not properly restrained pose a threat to all our residents. While you may know your pet is friendly, an animal running at someone who is walking by is very scary for that person. Many children are afraid of animals and become frightened, which could result in the child getting hurt trying to avoid the animal.

Veterinary Public Health (formerly called Harris County Animal Control) advises that “All dogs and cats must be kept under restraint while in the unincorporated areas of Harris County, Texas. While it may be nice to have your animal out in the yard while you work or play, it is against the law, unless the animal is properly restrained. Let’s all help keep our community a safe and comfortable place for all our residents by being responsible pet owners. This will not only protect anyone who may be walking or bicycling in the area, but also the pet owner who could be held legally responsible or possibly sued for failing to properly restrain their pet.

When you’re feeling run-down and exhausted, try one of these methods for an energy - or attitude - boost. You know you haven’t run a marathon, climbed a mountain or even done much more than slog through a giant stack of paperwork - so why do you feel exhausted at the end of every day? That’s the tricky thing about stress, it can make you feel mentally and physically exhausted. If you’re so pooped you can’t socialize, enjoy hobbies or participate in activities that make you happy, it’s time to reassess. invigorated. 1. Exercise. It may seem counterintuitive - you’re so tired you can barely drag yourself home at the end of the day, so why would running a few miles help? The fact is exercise is one of the best ways to combat fatigue. More movement, not less, boosts energy levels. And you can exercise without leaving the comfort of your own home. Invest in some 8 or 10-pound weights and do some work on your arms while you’re watching TV or talking on the phone or buy an aerobic workout video and do 20 minutes in the morning for a before-work cardio-boost.

caffeine-laden soft drinks may give you a short-term boost, they will quickly dump you into a low-energy slump. So what should you eat instead? Try dried apricots along with one ounce of almonds for a low-fat energy boost - this combo snack gives you up to 50% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin A and 20% of your daily iron allowance. Raisins and yogurt or a fresh peach are some other nutrition-packed snacks that can help you boost your energy levels. 4. Cooling eye mask. Okay, you may feel a little silly, but who cares how you look? These eye masks typically contain a cold-retaining gel. Keep a few in the fridge and pop them on at the end of the day when your eyes are burning from computer glare or throbbing with tension. Look a little funny, feel fantastic. 5. Pounding beat. Put on some music that gets you going. Remember when you could dance until dawn and watch the sun rise? Those days may be long gone, but your old AC/DC album may give you just enough energy to clean the kitchen. Or try an energizing yoga workout to rejuvenate your body and mind. 6. Astringent. Whether they contain herbal extracts, essential oils or pore-tightening alcohol, astringents are slightly tart face washes that are meant to be invigorating and refreshing. Choose your favorite and give it a try. At the very least, you’ll smell nice and have squeakyclean skin. 7. Just say no - to too many commitments, that is. Are you feeling exhausted because you’re trying to do too much? It may be time to say no every once in a while. And if the negative is super-hard for on the PTA committee, but I can’t do it this month. How about next month?

hours of shut-eye. Set a bedtime for yourself and stick to it.

8. Soak your fatigue away. Take a hot bath - the warm water loosens tight muscles and cuts stress, leaving you with more energy. A hot soak can erase the day’s tensions and leave you ready to face the rest of your evening with a little bit of pep. Plus, it will help you sleep better.

3. Healthy diet. Stick to a healthy diet. While sugary snacks and

KATY ISD ANNOUNCES TRANSPORTATION CHANGES FOR 2012 - 2013 The Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved a change in the eligibility requirements for students to receive transportation services. Starting in August 2012, the eligibility for bus transportation will change from the current 3/10 of a mile to approximately 1/2 mile for elementary students and approximately one mile for junior high and high school students. Bus transportation will continue to be provided for students for whom a hazardous condition may exist between home and school, as well as special needs bus routes. Approximately 52 bus routes (elementary and secondary) will be eliminated, affecting approximately 6,600 students or nearly 21%

of the 32,000 students that ride school buses daily. The Katy ISD Transportation Department began building bus routes in June and in August become available. The changes are the result of the Transportation Department experiencing particular challenges this year in having route requirements. Due to vacant routes and driver absences, there have been days in which the department has found it necessary to district to better meet route driver needs and will provide for more effective route management, including driver training and driver support in issues involving student management. “The change in transportation services comes after extensive review of our current transportation operations that not only revealed a heavy burden for drivers covering multiple routes, but also a high amount of uncertainty and risk due to vacant routes and driver absences,” said Katy ISD Superintendent Alton Frailey. “In comparison to other school districts, Katy ISD’s transportation eligibility distances remain among the shortest in the Houston area as many districts require students to live outside of a two mile radius.”

CRAZY DAYS OF 5TH GRADE an Iggy the Iguana Book Written by Melissa M. Williams

ble a l i a Av ow! N

Crazy Days of 5th Grade is the 3rd book in the Iggy the Iguana chapter book series for children which focuses on themes of the upper elementary classroom, including making new friends, positive changes in learning styles and respect for others. When Iggy’s new teacher, Mr. Gruff the goat, continues to eat his homework, he realizes his old ways of studying are over. It will take the mind of a creative genius and a lot of make-believe to revitalize Iggy’s concentration in class. What started off as a lonely, boring school year missing his best friend Snap Shell the turtle, turns into a suspenseful ride that includes a strange encounter with a crab and an unexpected trip to the hospital. With the help of his friends and his little sister’s stuffed animals, Iggy discovers a hidden talent proving what he once considered a problem was really a gift in disguise.

Reading level: Ages 7-11 Page count: 220 Themes include: Acceptance, Diversity, Empathy, Friendship, Bullying, Health
