PROTECT ONE OF YOUR MOST VALUABLE INVESTMENTS BY DEVELOPING A CONSISTENT MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE By doing some simple preventative maintenance, you can extend the life of your home and minimize costly repairs.
Bear Creek Animal Clinic Pet Wellness Fair Saturday, February 20th, (8am-11:30am)
Painting: It is important to put a good coat of paint on your home which may mean painting every three to five years on an average, depending on the quality of the paint. Painting obviously improves the appearance of your home and protects your wood or hardiplank from the elements reducing rot. Don’t forget your ACC application along with paint color samples, which must be processed and approved first!
www.bearcreekanimalclinic.com Ask about Senior and Dental Days
Power washing: Take a walk around your property. If you see green or black mildew on your home and driveway, you can power wash the mildew off your gutters, home exterior, driveway and sidewalk. This small step of maintenance can keep your property looking well maintained. Gutters: Gutters need to be cleaned out on a regular basis. This time of year they fill up with pine needles and leaves. If the gutters are full of leaves and pine needles, they will not drain properly and will need to be cleaned. The extra weight will cause the gutter nails to become loose and the gutter will sag or fall from your home. Gutters are important as they protect the fascia boards. Landscaping: Trees, shrubs and seasonal flowers add a great deal to the value of your home and the community. Remember that over time trees and shrubs can become overgrown and unsightly. Please keep your landscaping well trimmed and yard edged so that it enhances your home and does not interfere with the street.

Kittens and puppies are being dumped in Subdivisions and shopping strips. They will not find good homes. Most will be taken by the pound or shelter and those are overflowing with pets. They cannot help but have to euthanize some. You, as a responsible pet owner can be of great help by having your cat or dog spayed or neutered and not worry about finding homes for the offspring. You will have a healthier and happy pet. Another and very important thing you can do is have a collar with some form of ID and your phone number on it. Pet stores have special ID’s for your pets. Many pet owners are now “chipping” the pets. If found and taken to a vet they can scan chip and find the owner. If your pet has a rabies tag, the vet has your name and #. The first thing I ask a caller is “does the pet have ID on it.” If it does, I will help contact the # on the ID and get the pet to it’s owner ASAP. Or, the owner can pick up their lost pet. Having an ID on a pet makes life easier for all. Marie Nugent - 281-859-1104

TREES AND SHRUBS • Finish all transplanting, get everything in the ground for a good spring spurt of growth. Transplant balled and burlap, container-grown, bare-root deciduous evergreen trees, shrubs, roses and vines while still dormant. • Finish pruning roses. Weed and cultivate lightly all beds. Replenish mulch as needed. • Control early spring insects like thrips on glads and aphids on young tender growth. Spray with Malathion, Diazinon or Orthene. • At the end of February: peach, apple and pear fruit must be thinned to insure quality production at harvest. • Give groundcovers a haircut. They will spread faster. • Divide daylilies, daisies and other perennials now.

1. Create & share a vision of your dream life together. Make the fulfillment of your short term and long term needs the criteria for choosing a partner and being in a relationship. 2. Accept your partner just as they are. Your partner is a special person - the only one in the world like them, with their own wonderful traits and unique gifts. They are entitled to their own decisions, hobbies, goals and hopes. 3. Be generous and loving in all your dealings with your partner. Give unconditionally, rather than wanting something back in return. Instead, commit 100% to doing things for your partner and with zero expectation. 4. Always have integrity. Commit to tell your partner the total truth, as honesty is one of the key things people want in a relationship. Knowing they can trust you builds a zone of safety and comfort around them. 5. Resolve your differences as soon as they happen. Conflict actually fuels a genuinely passionate partnership. So accept responsibility for your part of the issue at stake and do not blame your partner. 6. Do not criticize. It is ok to complain but not criticize. Your partner is doing the best they can – support them in becoming an even better person. NEVER put your partner down in front of other people. 7. Create a haven for your partner. Make them feel so safe and secure with you that they drop all their defensiveness. Be considerate of your partner’s feelings and treat them with the utmost care and kindness. 8. Let go of the past. All relationships have their difficulties. Remember only the lessons learnt and forget the details. Weather the stormy moments and savor the memory of sunny days. 9. Have a fun date with your partner regularly and often. Give the relationship the same commitment you made when you first met - simply put each other first! Courtesy: lifehack.org

BERRY CENTER TO HOST UIL WRESTLING STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Home Office: Bloomington, Illinois 61710
The 2016 University Interscholastic League Wrestling State Championships will take place at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District’s Berry Center. After receiving feedback from stakeholders in the wrestling community, the UIL made the decision to change venues to better accommodate the growing sport.
ARROWS PAINTING & REMODELING INTERIOR • EXTERIOR • ALL KINDS OF REPAIR
A second conference was added to boys and girls wrestling competition in 2013, doubling the number of qualifiers and matches. The 2013 Wrestling State Championships were expanded to three days and two locations. This marks the first time the UIL Wrestling State Championships will be held in the Houston area. The Curtis Culwell Center in Garland hosted the UIL Wrestling State Championships in 2014 and 2015. Prior to that, the UIL Wrestling State Championships had been held in Austin since 1999. “The Berry Center is an excellent venue that will allow the UIL more flexibility with the Wrestling State Tournament schedule to provide the best championship experience for student-athletes, coaches and fans,” UIL Executive Director Dr. Charles Breithaupt said. Boys and girls wrestling has been a UIL-sanctioned sport since 1999. The 2016 UIL Wrestling State Championships will be February 18th- 20th. “Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is extremely proud to partner with the University Interscholastic League to host the State Wrestling Tournament,” Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Director of Athletics Ed Warken said. “We look forward to welcoming the student-athletes, their families and all wrestling fans to the beautiful Berry Center. It will serve as a great venue to highlight the efforts of so many kids and coaches and we are honored to be a part of this event.”

CHURCH AND OTHER RELIGIOUS INFORMATION ST. CUTHBERT EPISCOPAL CHURCH St. Cuthbert is located at 17020 West Road, Houston (the northeast corner of West and Queenston). For more information on any of our events, visit us at www.stcuthbert.org. You are invited to St. Cuthbert Episcopal Church’s Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on February 9th from 5:30-7 PM. We will eat pancakes and play bingo! Shrove Tuesday originated during the Middle Ages. Food items like meats, fats, eggs, milk and fish were regarded as restricted during Lent. To keep such food from being wasted, many families would have big feasts on Shrove Tuesday. The English tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday came about as a way to use as much milk, fats and eggs as possible before Ash Wednesday began. In France, the consumption of all fats and fatty foods on this day coined the name “Fat Tuesday” or Mardi Gras.

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ?
We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through February. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.
