3. A green wristband indicates that the child has passed a swim test. Once a child has passed the swim test, the child’s name will be added to TAE’s (Texas Aquatic Enterprises) Child Safety Log. Each visit to the pool, the child will need to give the lifeguard this name and a green wristband will be issued. Children on the Safety Log are not required to wear a lifejacket or to be within arm’s reach of the guardian. 4. The swim test consists of swimming one length of the pool unassisted. This includes no aid from flotation devices, the lane ropes, pool walls or the bottom of the pool. 5. Any child on the Child Safety Log can be asked to perform a test again, should the lifeguards on duty feel the child’s swimming ability has diminished. TAE RECOGNIZES THAT PARENTS/GUARDIANS HAVE THE ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR CHILDREN. UPON REQUEST BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN, TAE MAY PERMIT CHILDREN WHO HAVE NOT PASSED A SWIM TEST TO USE THE POOLS WITHOUT A LIFEJACKET. TAE MAY REQUIRE THE PARENT/GUARDIAN TO SIGN A WAIVER OF LIABILITY BEFORE PERMITTING UN-LIFEJACKETED CHILDREN TO USE THE POOLS.

WINDSONG COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION AUTOMATED SERVICE HEAVY TRASH DAY CHANGE Congratulations! Your service has just been upgraded to include automated collection providing the most efficient service to you, our customers. The system features a specialized collection truck equipped with a lifting mechanism to service each residential home. Each Residence will receive a trash cart, which will be utilized to contain your trash. Carts will be delivered the last week of July 2015. Effective August 1, 2015, automated service will begin and poly carts should be placed with the handle facing away from the street and wheels against the curb. Carts must be placed at the curb before 7 AM on Tuesday and Friday. Heavy Trash days will now be on the 1st & 3rd Friday of the month. • Please place poly carts on the street with wheels against the curb as seen in the picture below. • Carts should not be placed too close to mailboxes, fences, parked cars or other objects. • Allow for ample space from other objects and carts so the automated lifting mechanism can be attached around the cart and lifted into the truck and then lowered back to the curb. • Bagging your trash before you put it in your cart will help prevent blowing trash when it is dumped and helps to maintain the cleanliness of the cart. • Trash (95 gallon cart) is collected on Tuesday and Friday, with heavy trash on every 1st & 3rd Friday of the month. • Only the WCA poly carts will be picked up on Tuesday and Friday. Items placed on or beside the cart, will not be serviced. • Holidays observed by WCA: Christmas, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Independence Day and New Year’s Day. Holiday service is provided on the next scheduled service day. Windsong

EXTERIOR MODIFICATIONS
Springtime is the season to make repairs and upgrades to the exterior of your home including the landscaping. Please don’t forget to submit your ACC application before making any changes to the exterior of your home or property. The ACC Committee processes the applications as quickly as possible. Supplying the specifications of your improvement, a lot survey indicating the location of the modification, and a sample or detailed list of materials to be used will also help speed up this process. If you need an application, please contact Erica Morgan at emorgan@pmghouston.com or 713-329-7186.
PROTECT ONE OF YOUR MOST VALUABLE INVESTMENTS BY DEVELOPING A CONSISTENT MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
Landscaping: Trees, shrubs and seasonal flowers add a great deal to the value of your home and the community. Remember that over time trees and shrubs can become overgrown and unsightly. Please keep your landscaping well trimmed and yard edged so that it enhances your home and does not interfere with the street.
DEED YOU KNOW…
All trash containers are to be kept out of public view on nontrash days. This means they cannot be kept on the sides on your homes, behind a bush, on the front porch or in front of the garage. If the trash containers are viewed, you will begin receiving violation letters in the very near future.
2015 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT COLLECTION POLICY
By doing some simple preventative maintenance, you can extend the life of your home and minimize costly repairs.
*The Board of Directors has adopted the following collection policy for 2015:
Painting: It is important to put a good coat of paint on your home which may mean painting every three to five years on an average, depending on the quality of the paint. Painting obviously improves the appearance of your home and protects your wood or hardiplank from the elements reducing rot. Don’t forget your ACC application along with paint color samples, which must be processed and approved first!
FIRST NOTICE: November DELINQUENT NOTICE: February CERTIFIED MANAGER DEMAND & NOTICE OF HEARING: March ATTORNEY DEMAND: May LIEN NOTICE: June ATTORNEY LAWSUIT: As processed FORECLOSURE As processed
Power washing: Take a walk around your property. If you see green or black mildew on your home and driveway, you can power wash the mildew off your gutters, home exterior, driveway and sidewalk. This small step of maintenance can keep your property looking well maintained. Gutters: Gutters need to be cleaned out on a regular basis. This time of year they fill up with pine needles and leaves. If the gutters are full of leaves and pine needles, they will not drain properly and will need to be cleaned. The extra weight will cause the gutter nails to become loose and the gutter will sag or fall from your home. Gutters are important as they protect the fascia boards.

DEED RESTRICTION VIOLATIONS
The purpose of the inspections is to bring about an improvement in the appearance of our community. Let’s all make an effort to reduce the number of violations each month. We want our community to look good and to maintain our property values. It is up to each of us individually to accomplish this.

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ?
We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through July. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

PET HOTLINE NEWS
Kittens and puppies are being dumped in Subdivisions and shopping strips. They will not find good homes. Most will be taken by the pound or shelter and those are overflowing with pets. They cannot help but have to euthanize some. You, as a responsible pet owner can be of great help by having your cat or dog spayed or neutered and not worry about finding homes for the offspring. You will have a healthier and happy pet. Another and very important thing you can do is have a collar with some form of ID and your phone number on it. Pet stores have special ID’s for your pets. Many pet owners are now “chipping” the pets. If found and taken to a vet they can scan chip and find the owner. If your pet has a rabies tag, the vet has your name and #. The first thing I ask a caller is “does the pet have ID on it.” If it does, I will help contact the # on the ID and get the pet to it’s owner ASAP. Or, the owner can pick up their lost pet. Having an ID on a pet makes life easier for all.

VACATION PLANS
As summer gets into full swing and vacation plans are made, be sure to let a trusted neighbor know when you will be away. Remember to stop the mail (can be done on-line at https:// holdmail.usps.com/holdmail/ or at the post office, 3 day minimum). Either stop newspaper delivery (https://myaccount. houstonchronicle.com/Login.aspx and log into your account) or arrange for someone to keep them from collecting in front of your house. There no longer is a credit for undelivered newspapers. Our experience is that the newspaper never stopped coming even though we requested a stop, so we just have someone pick up the newspaper. There is a great video online at www.howcast.com/videos/369734-How-to-SecureYour-Home-while-Youre-on-Vacation with some simple tips on securing your home. One simple suggestion you might not think of, is to lock your garage doors from the inside, then unplug the garage door opener. This prevents someone from using a decoder and entering your garage and home.
GREEN TIPS 1. Buy LED light bulbs - Today’s LED bulbs last up to 25 times longer and have really come down in price, with some costing only $8. Due to their long life and efficiency, LED bulbs will easily save you more than $100 over their lifetime.
281-855-3764 * Weekends & Holidays Extra
3. Wash clothes in cold water and use the fastest spin speed available. Today’s clothes washers and detergents are designed to effectively clean clothes in cold water. This avoids having to heat the 15 or so gallons of water used per load. If you have a front-loading washer, select the machine’s highest spin speed, which will remove more of the moisture from your clothes so you’ll cut dryer time and save money, too.

2. Adjust your TV’s settings (turn Auto Brightness Control on and Quick Start off). Many digital TVs come with a feature called Automatic Brightness Control (ABC), which, if enabled, causes your TV to automatically adjust the screen’s brightness to the room’s light levels. So if you’re watching TV at night in a dimly lit room, the screen doesn’t need to be as bright and your TV will use less power. Also some smart (Internet-connected TVs) come with a Quick Start feature. While the TV will power up a few seconds faster when selected, this feature can be very wasteful because some TVs chug away at more than 20 watts 24/7 rather than 0.3 watts without the feature enabled. So turn this feature off if you can wait the few extra seconds.

4. Turn off the Instant-on setting on the Xbox One. This game console is shipped with the Instant On feature enabled, which causes it to continuously use 12.5 watts even when turned off. Selecting the Energy-Saving mode instead can cut your Xbox’s total annual energy use by more than a third.

5. Turn off your furnace when the cold weather ends. Like many other modern appliances, home central heating systems (furnaces) use electricity even when they’re not operating. According to a Home Energy article, many furnaces draw 8 to 12 watts of standby power 24/7 when not in use. To eliminate this waste during the 9-10 months when you don’t need heat, switch off the power to the furnace.

6. Buy a new toilet that uses no more than 1.28 gallons per flush. If you’re remodeling or have an older toilet that uses 1.6 gallons per flush or (worse yet) an older one that might be using 5 gallons per flush, swap it out for a more water-efficient toilet. Look for models with a Water Sense label because they’re efficient & also meet various flushing performance requirements. A family of 4 can save 6 gallons of clean drinking water per DAY, simply by switching from a toilet that uses 1.6 to 1.28 gallons per flush.
GARDEN TIPS FOR JULY
• Plant fall flowering annuals where your spring annuals have bloomed out. Set our seeds like zinnia, marigold, cosmos, petunia and portulaca so you’ll have color until frost. Don’t let seedlings dry out. • In summer, prune roses to keep them in shape. Continue black spot and insect treatments. Water 2” once per week. • Remove spent crepe myrtle flowers to prolong bloom production. • Weeds rob plants of valuable water, nutrients-remove them. • Great sun/heat-lovers include coral honeysuckle, coreopsis, lantana, oleanders and hamelia. • Fertilize flowers lightly, if at all; too hot for heavy feedings. • Water your lawn longer but less frequent. Deep water of about 2 - 3” per week forces plant roots to grow down, instead of sideways into sunbaked upper soil levels. Use a bowl in your yard to measure during waterings

HOUSTON FAMILY ARTS CENTER REMAINING 2015 SEASON EXPLORING LIFE, LOVE & LAUGHTER
The Houston Family Arts Center (HFAC) announces its 10th mainstage season, which explores life, love and laughter through timeless musicals, zany comedies, a classic murder mystery and a Shakespearean comedy.
2015
• Shakespeare - comes to life, June 12th - July 5th with A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The canon’s most enchanted comedy pursues love with calculated abandon! This story of mortal and immortal paramours set in a mythical forest is one that will cast a spell on lovers of all ages. • 1776 - Closing this exciting season, July 24th - August 16th, is the American musical, 1776. With revolutionary immediacy, our lofty founding fathers are found to be genuine people who debate, bargain and fray one another’s nerves as they struggle on the tortuous road to independence. This musical witness to the creation of one of the most eloquent documents in history will stir the soul of every American. All performances are on the HFAC Garza Mainstage, recently named “Houston’s Best Gem of a Theatre” by the Houston Press, except for Peter Pan, which will be performed at the Berry Center. Season subscriptions packages are now available for purchase for the 2014-2015 season. Season subscriptions offer incentives and discounts to new and returning patrons for every performance and packages start as low as $100. Patrons can purchase their subscriptions online at www.houstonfac.coM or call the HFAC box office at 281-685-6374.

The Drowning Girls, a modern interpretation and poetic retelling of the “Brides in the Bath” slayings in 20th century England. The work also examines the lengthy history of misogyny and domestic abuse in modern civilization. Originally produced in Canada for the Edmonton Fringe Festival, the work will debut in Houston on July 16, 2015 and will run for 12 performances through August 1, 2015. In line with MU’s mission to promote and support the work of women, the play, written by three female playwrights, illustrates how far women have come in the fight for equality in the past 100 years.
