It has been said that the man who reads is the man who leads. Man in his quest for information turn to reading as his source of the fountain of knowledge. But the speed of reading determines the amount of knowledge gained. Each of us read for different reasons, others to seek information while majority do it for leisure. Each reader will have different speed that he can use appropriately in a correct way. But we cannot hide the fact that we are all equal in the sense that we are taught to read before we can even write. It is while growing up that we can distinguish those who are slow readers from those who are speed readers. Slow readers tend to read words syllabically. They are also the ones with poor comprehension and poor memory retention. There are others who are adept at the speed reading skills. They have good memories and better comprehension skills. Though we hope that our success in life should never be measured by our reading skills, it is sad to note that it is. Examinations are given in every aspects of our life, whether we are in school or looking for jobs. Examinations are also given within a time frame. How can you pass if you are only halfway through? To increase the level of their child's competitiveness or increase their chance of success, parents turn to tutorials and one of them are speed reading books. These self-help books will teach the child to read at a pace where he can muster comprehension and at the highest rate of retention. They are given techniques and tips on different subject matter and how to go around them selecting only the terms which are most beneficial. While the English subject taught comprehension through vocabulary, part of the skills should be devoted alone to speed reading. Retention is practiced memorization. You don't have to memorize the definition of things word for word. You only have to take the essence in the meaning and promulgate the definition on your own. Other tutorials offer speed reading courses for those who are honest enough to admit that they really need help. These are professionals who want to ease their workloads in the office so that they can have time for their family too. These speed reading courses will allow them to have time for other things rather than being holed up in the office reading manuscripts through manuscripts. Speed reading is a practice art and the knowledge that you've learned, is for your own gain. Nobody can take that away from you. And if you want help along the way to your success, there are speed reading
books and speed reading courses available at your disposal. If you don't have the skill, then this will be useful. If you have the skill, then you can learn new techniques to add to your own. No one loses, everybody wins. It can be said that a well-read person is a good conversationalist. They never run out of ideas or things to say.
