Bulgari presents Jasmin Noir L’Essence RachelWeisz is the star of the new advertising campaign for Jasmin Noir, the fragrance which embodies the essence of Bulgari’s prestige and luxury and expresses its most sophisticated and refined nuances.
J
asmin Noir L’Essence – signed by perfumers Sophie Labbé and Olivier Polge – explores the infinite olfactory variations of jasmine through a highly sophisticated interpretation: “Jasmin Noir L’Essence concentrates the finest ingredients which make Jasmin Noir’s signature, and associates them with new notes to offer a precious, luxurious and sensual fragrance,” explains Sophie Labbé. “In this edition, new balances and contrast between the ingredients highlight the most racy and intriguing dry-down notes, while sparkling top notes bring all their freshness – continues Olivier Polge - Jasmin Noir L’Essence is a desirable elixir offering an elegant new brightness and an asserted femininity”. The first accent is sparkly and luminous, thanks to the new harmony of pink pepper and bergamot, which vibrantly lead to the heart of the fragrance, where the absolute of Sambac jasmine mingles with the softness of satin almond chord, epitomizing the extreme femininity of the perfume. The final nuance culminates in the warm accents of myrrh, an unexpected touch, suggesting stirring faraway moods, which then gives way to the gentle caress of precious wood, the last deep and captivating aroma that definitively makes Jasmin Noir L’Essence an irresistible elixir. Apotheosis of the stylistic code of the Jasmin Noir collection, the bottle for Jasmin Noir L’Essence preserves the precious notes of this unique eau de parfum like a precious chest. Sinuous and geometric forms, sharp chromatic contrasts of black and brilliant gold are combined with an elegant new decoration for the cap and the box: a subtle evocation of the delicate embroidery of Bulgari’s evening bags.

BEAUTY & S T Y L E | J a n u a r y 2 o 1 2 19
I go for brands that suit my skin type. I trust Clinique, Estee Lauder and Lancome. Earlier I used to swear by Pond’s and Pantene
S
he is a regular face on the ramp but not just one of the models donning luxurious designer wear. She has been a show stopper for many A-listed Indian designers. Sonal Chauhan who started off as a model and went on to win beauty pageant, is one of the few pretty faces who managed to get it right at the box office with her first movie.
Cliché but True
I know it is cliché when people say natural is beautiful but I believe in it. It’s not makeup or surgery that makes a person look gorgeous. The untouched look is beautiful.
Stay Hydrated
I drink lot of water and keep my skin hydrated by applying moisturizer. I use face wash, night cream and sun screen. Earlier I used to avoid sunblock but later I realized how harmful it can be. Somehow Delhi weather suited my skin. In Mumbai, humidity level is high so my skin goes for a toss. I never had acne problem but now I have pimples at times. I wash my face after every one hour as my skin produces oil. I don’t use face wash every time. Sometimes plain water is sufficient for me. I also carry wet wipes with me.
Curl Care
Humidity makes my hair sticky and dirty. But I oil my hair before cleansing. I wash it on alternate days and follow up with a conditioner. I don’t apply mousse or colour my mane.
Caught My Eye
Anything fancy catches my eyes. The latest one is Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick. It can be used as highlighter on my cheeks or as eye shadow.
My Top Five
Foundation, eye liner, blush, lip balm and mascara. Sometimes I keep my eyes nude and highlight lips. I apply liquid blush. It gives natural look. I don’t remember using dry blush.
Love and Hate
I like the way I look. When I was in school I used to wear tight shoes so got marks on my toes. I hate that.
Gym Works
I am a gym person. I like weight training, sweating it out and also dancing. It is part of my profession and is also the best cardio. I do yoga once a while.
I love doing my nails. Hot pink and wine colours are my favourites 20
BEAUTY & S T Y L E | J a n u a r y 2 o 1 2
Eat Well
I love massages. Hot stone massage is my all-time favourite
I have orange and mix vegetable juice. I eat late breakfast. It consists of two to three eggs, five to six paranthas. I have chicken every day during dinner. I enjoy having clear chicken soup. I know fry and oily food are not good but I eat chicken in its worst form which is fried one. I don’t follow what nutritionists say. Though I believe in eating right as well as whatever you eat shows on your face.
Favourite Look
Clean face, nicely scrubbed, moisturized, lip balm on lips and ponytail.
Love their Designs
My favourite designer duo is Gauri and Nainika. Their collections are wearable and not just meant for the ramp. The other designer I look up to is Rina Dhaka. She has been my favourite since I was a kid. I have been following her shows. She understands a woman’s body.
Fashion Faux Pas
Lots of them but the one I remember right now and can share happened when I was a kid. I used to be obsessed with my mother’s clothes. I was really small back then, not even a teenager. There was a nice t-shirt that my mother bought that time. During Diwali celebration I thought of wearing it. It was too big on me. It touched the ground still I wore it. I thought people looked at me as I looked good but I guess that was not the case.
Perfect Mom
I look like my mother a lot but I also resemble my Dad a little. I find my Mom to be a perfect woman so I wanted to look like her. Other than her, I find Aishwarya stunning.
Never Make Plans
I don’t plan things as whenever I do, it never goes according to my plan. I have faith in God. God plans for us and his plans are the best. When I was in school I never thought I would be an actor some day. It just happened. I have few movie releases in 2012 but I can’t talk about them right now.
I am addicted to lip balms. Currently I am using The Body Shop lip balm BEAUTY & S T Y L E | J a n u a r y 2 o 1 2 21

Novel ways to take care of your skin and colour your face
Skin Scope
A recent trend has been on medical micropigmentation tattooing or permanent makeup.
This year will give more solutions to fight skin problems
A
s celebrations are on we will witness a large portion of the society seeking solutions to combat the effect and the damage caused by a number of factors including overexposure to the sun, improper nutrition, sedentary lifestyle, and the damaging effects of polluted environment. The innovations in the field of medicine and better understanding of the physiology of skin have made cosmetic surgery an increasingly attractive and safe potion for not only the young but those on the higher side of the age graph.
Back Gear
We have already seen a trend of increasing demand of age reversing procedures from people as young as 25-35 years to curb the effects of aging. What makes this young group of people more confident in undergoing these procedures is the minimally invasive nature of these procedures and their efficacy. As opposed to what was previously seen men are among the growing number of individuals seeking cosmetic and plastic surgery, especially with minimally invasive treatments. It was found that liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures in the India as according to a recent survey by ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery).
of high blood pressure, stroke, osteoarthritis, cancer and gall stones and also possible depression and low self esteem. Controlled timely and reversed at an early stage the individual may benefit a life worth living. The beauty is from within and with development of state of art minimally invasive surgical techniques bariatric surgery (obesity surgery) is a safe and a predictable science now. The upcoming year sees the entry of special obesity clinics which tackle not only the physical, but also the psychological issues involved in this modern epidemic.
Obesity Fighters
Gone By
Obesity has gained epidemic seriousness in the busy lifestyle of the day. It has not only brought with it a bodily dysmorphic nature but also a wide range of altered physiological conditions leading to earlier and a more serious nature of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and heart attacks. Ill effects of obesity includes a higher risk
The cohesive silicone gel implants have proved their efficacy and safety, and are here to stay for breast augmentation procedures. Dr Mohan Thomas, Senior Cosmetic Surgeon, Breach Candy Hospital
The passing year saw a large increase in injectable and non-invasive treatments such as botulinum toxin (BTXA), fillers and injection lipolysis. Also came some of the less effective external non-invasive body contouring options such as external ultrasound and lasers to dissolve the underlying body fat. The increased demand of injectable materials has made the production of these much more economical at an industrial level. Constant research in the area of fillers is making companies come up with newer molecules which are more inert and are longer lasting than the existing ones thereby decreasing the time interval between subsequent treatments. Also the morphologic nature of the newer injectable fillers blends easily with the underlying subcutaneous tissue thereby rendering it near impossible to make out a filled up face on touch.
Now with increase in the development of medical infrastructure in India on a rise, all sorts of medical treatments are available in India at fraction of the cost that in the developed world. Patients flying in for invasive as well as noninvasive cosmetic treatments to India have been constantly on a rise.

Boom
You will fall in love with yourself as beauty industry is all geared to get you the look you always wished to have, envisages Natalia Ningthoujam
O
ur apparel always steals the top spot of our to-do list which we often make to look stunning. Then we move on to shoes, jewellery, bags or watches. Finally, the beauty products get our undivided attention. Yes, 2012 is already here but most of the people still consider only colour cosmetics as ‘beauty products’! But talking about skin, hair care and colour cosmetics, the new year has a lot to offer. With options galore, let’s hope to see fashion giving way to beauty. At the end of it, if your skin and hair are not in perfect shape apparel won’t be able to cover up much for you.
It’s Green
We can’t steer away from chemicals but their usage can be reduced for sure. With so many herbal and natural brands springing up, dominance of chemical based brands might shake up. “Previously make-up industry and products donned the market which is in trend even now but natural shimmers, natural minerals are being used in make-up products these days,” says Rahul Kale, Director and Founder of Iraya. Similar goes for tresses. “In the hair care category, consumers are

n Efforts are being made to replace ingredients like synthetic colours with natural colours that are obtained from vegetables fruits, synthetic perfumes with essential oils. n Age reversal is no longer a dream. Owing to the ever growing demand for anti-aging products and spot reducing creams, many beauty players will probably launch a wider range of these products. n The addition of SPF in the existing hair-care products is something that is necessary to protect one’s hair from the excessive heat and harsh environment. The West have adopted this, hopefully we will do it soon.
moving towards herbal solutions that have a positive long-term effect on the hair and scalp. The effectiveness of ingredients such as Shikakai, Amla, Henna, to name a few, have helped in making consumers more receptive towards herbal offerings in hair care,” agrees Ramakant Sista, Marketing Manager-Consumer Products Division, The Himalaya Drug Company.
Range Rise
While most are still allured by the make-up colours, others have started exploring other aspects of beauty products. Brands are wise enough to not ignore this section. “In 2012 a wider range of products to suit various requirements of men will be available. Since India has very few players for color cosmetics, more and more brands are looking to make their presence felt in this arena,” says Ishween Anand, Founder and Director, NYASSA- Manufacturers of exclusive Bath and Body Products. Importance of face care is expected to increase in 2012. “A face wash, today, is no longer just a soapfree liquid cleanser. Some consumers look for a face wash that prevents acne, while others want to enhance their fairness. A deep cleansing face wash is sought after by consumers with oily skin, while others seek mild exfoliation,” says Sista.
Brand Alert
As natural is going to be in vogue, Iraya will be launching Lime & Ginger Massage Gel. “It is an excellent alternative to massage oils and lotions. It is derived from nature so it prevents skin irritation,” says Neepa Chatterjee who is Co-Founder of Iraya. Probably cosmetics will be easier to carry. “A wider palette, highly pigmented payoffs, single product with multiple benefits is what the customer will be focusing on,” says Sameer Prasad, CEO FACES Cosmetics. It will soon launch an exciting palette of stunning lip colours with unique product benefits in the first quarter of 2012 along with a range of other compelling products across categories. Nyassa, on the other hand, will be launching a complete new range of hair care products like hair masks, conditioner and shampoos. These will target specific hair problems. The Himalaya Drug Company will bring out sachet for Himalaya Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for the price conscious consumer, among other things. As the beauty industry has decided to take care of all your beauty issues, there is nothing to stop you from attaining the look of your choice.

hey say shoulders carry the weight of the world. But if it’s your body weight, the entire burden goes on your feet. As it is winter, dry and chilly wind is no less in giving hard time to your
34
Unlike face or other parts of the body, feet are mostly dry so using lotions or moisturizers is a must weight carrier! What better way to give happiness to them than by going for a warm and moistening foot spa? There are times when you just wish to laze around at home. Who says you can pamper feet only in spas or salons? With a little help from your friend or spouse you can make it happen in your abode too!
The Essentials
When you prepare something you do need few things. For a relaxing foot spa, the first thing that should be on your list is a dish pan with less depth. All you need to remember is that your feet should get comfortably immersed in it. Fill the pan with hot water. Temperature must be bearable. “You can test with your fingers first. To get bubbles, add shampoo or body wash to the water,” says Hollis Beckwith, Complex Director of Spa, The Westin Gurgaon, New Delhi and The Westin Sohna Resort and Spa. Tools for your heel and nails, salt or sugar for scrub, small bowl, hand towels, moisturizing products like milk or rose oil or coconut oil are also required.
All Set
If your feet are just dry, use gel or lotion for massage. For cracked feet, add some amount of oil to lotion BEAUTY & S T Y L E | J a n u a r y 2 o 1 2
Once you have all the products in front of you, you can club few. “For preparing scrub, you can take half cup of sugar or salt and fruit acid. Squeeze half lemon or orange or any citrus fruit to get fruit acid. It has Vitamin C so speeds up exfoliation,” says Beckwith. After exfoliation, you can change the water in the pan. Place your feet in clean water. “Take one teaspoon of coconut or olive or mustard oil or milk and mix with water in the pan. Add a drop of body gel so that the oil mixes well with water,” suggests Beckwith. Use one of the towels to squeeze out water from your feet. After it dries up take a towel, wrap up your feet and squeeze them for one minute each. “For foot mask, use avocado, mango or banana. Blend these fruits and mix with yoghurt. Put this mixture in a bowl. Apply it and leave it for ten minutes. Soak two towels in water again and put both towels on each foot. You can leave a little bit of this mixture on your feet if it doesn’t get too sticky,” adds Beckwith. After cleaning and moisturizing your feet, don’t forget to wear cozy socks!

hile bathing bars cleanse your body, they also take away moisture along with dirt. Shower gels which are fluid soap available in variety of flavors, formulas and fragrance, cleanse and keep the moisture intact. Some have aroma of flower and fruits. Some also contain skincare ingredients which help to nourish your skin. So, while making a list of beauty must-haves this winter add shower gels to your list!
Convenient Cleanser
All over body cleansing can be done by using a bar or body wash or shower gel. If you freak out at the thought of sharing soaps with others, go for this gel. Get a loofah of your own and lather up for good body cleansing. This water based liquid soap is particularly good for those who have oily skin. Many shower gels have anti-septic properties which reduces acne breakouts and skin irritation. Body wash is more on the creamy side which is preferred by those with dry skin.
Ingredient Varies
Most of these gels have extracts of fruits like apples, grapes, mangoes etc. If not fruits, flowers also do the job of leaving pleasant smell on our body. Its not just the fragrance that changes with ingredients but also effects on skin. Those with citric fruits like orange or lemon also help in exfoliating rather than just removing dirt. Along with extracts, there is also glycerine to hydrate skin, essential oils which make such gels aroma therapeutic. For smooth skin texture, look for those gels with Vitamin B.
All in one
Some shower gels available in the market are two in one or sometimes three in one as well. They can be used as a shower gel and a shampoo. Some also serve the purpose of a shower gel, a shampoo and a conditioner also. When you can do multitasking at work, multi-purpose products are what you need to get your hands on.
Make your Own
Use any moisturizing products from your kitchen that won’t cause allergy to your skin. Pour water into the pan and boil it. Pour the luke warm water in a bowl. Mix any shampoo with this water till it gets dissolved. Add fruit extracts to the mixture and stir well. Add salt and mix the ingredients thoroughly till the time they blend. Put the mixture away from the flame. Wait for few hours till the time the shower gel becomes thick enough. Pour the shower gel in a jar. An empty can or bottle can be used for this. Shower gels leave your skin smooth and fresh so make each shower pleasant. 36

that the liveliness of their nature comes out. “Teenager should avoid dark makeup that includes dark lipsticks, eyeliner and too much of smoky eyes. Lighter shades are better option. They should go with pastel shades and should avoid solid colors like brown, reds and blacks,” says Kapil Bhalla, make up expert.
No Basic
Make-up is all about light shades but accessories like bags and shoes ought to be opposite. They can carry colorful handbags and team them up with colorful footwear that would accentuate their freshness. “Teenagers should avoid basic colors and classic hand bags and should go with trendy streetwear bags. A bag with sequence is perfect for teenagers,” adds Bhalla. Bright ones always work for young lasses so the brighter the better it is. When it comes to hair care, cleansing regularly and conditioning it go without saying. It’s the styling and colouring that need to be kept in mind. “They should do the styling according to the texture of their hair and not over-do it,” says Najeeb Ur Rehman, The PPS manager for Schwarzkopf Professional India. Colours on locks are great way to pep your look but maintaining it can get taxing. Using the right shampoo and conditioner along with frequent visit to salons for head spa has to be squeezed in your routine. “The girls in their teens should avoid colors with ammonia content. They should preserve their individuality and should go for natural colors which have no artificial pigment in them,” adds Rehman.
Age Reminder
Formals or gowns are big no if it’s not your convocation day or farewell day. ”Teenagers should avoid dresses with too much of embroidery. They should go casual and wear clothes that are more funky and colorful dresses,’’ says Designer Sannam Chopra. Accessorize with funky jewelry probably with beads or bright coloured stones. Pearls or diamonds or any expensive metal can be saved for later. Teenager is an age to explore different styles but the teenager should keep the above facts in mind so that their style statement does not get misfired

Dr. Eric Dupont, an international skin care scientist and inventor of several patented technologies strongly feels that Indian women should not take pigmentation problem lightly.
Dr. Eric Dupont Chairman and Co-founder Immanence-IDC
Q Skincare is a global concern but what is relevant to India skin type? A What I have observed here in that woman have supple skin but every second woman has spots or marks on her face. Considering the climatic condition here, I feel pigmentation is a big issue. Most of them seem to be taking it lightly but the fact is that it will trigger the aging process. Q What solutions do you suggest for this problem? A Skincare is the bottom line. That is one of the reasons why we are introducing our range of cleansing and spot corrector. Although, the entire IDC product range from Glenmark will be available, but some of them are specifically for Indian market. Q What is important to know before you start using antiaging products? A Well, not many people are aware that any product that claims to work wonders on your skin even if it is from some reputed brand, not necessarily give the desired results. Make sure to check the active ingredients of the product. The more is the percentage, the better is the results. The IDC line sets itself apart only due to its highly advanced Regen 16 technology targeting the 16 main mechanisms responsible for skin ageing. Q Considering the technological advancements beauty industry is witnessing, what is the trend the year is going to see? A Undoubtly skincare is on boom globally. It is just that women are getting aware day by day and so you might a lot of brands venturing different markets depending on the needs there. Stem Cell Technology is again a talk of the day and many scientists are exploring this area with different angles.

Natural Market
Globally we have all the major brands trying to get their foot in the “ Natural “ or “ Plant extract” market which is a great thing that the consumers or stylists are wanting more eco friendly products, for me I have not seen anything that delivers true results in the time frame we need in order for me to be convinced. Saying that there are some wonderfully good products on the market that are derived from a natural resource which some of which I highly recommend, the best thing you can do is research, anything going on your hair and skin you should know what it is and the ingredients. When it comes to hair styles it is almost parallel with regards to what is in right now.
“Out curls” are Yesterday
Cut Short
Hair is becoming more deconstructed in the styling and we don’t see the “formally done” look as being anything close to what is now, which for me is a plus! As far as the styles which are in and what is out I think we have to keep in mind that everyone is different and has different needs and different hair however saying that hair is defiantly taking a more 60’s feel to it with length being collar bone or above for woman with softer more muted warm tones worn. Sure the extremes will always have a place in their own right, so cropped hair or extremely long hair is always going to be ok if worn the right way but as a rule hair is definitely shorter this season. 2012 we will see a lot more color and a lot more people becoming more adventurous when it comes to their hair, after all no one wants to wear the same clothes all there life, hair has to be changed with the times! Using accessories in your hair has to be the easiest way to dress up a look so this next 12 months I want you to try to have fun with your look and evolve it, each time you out try something new. Don’t try and fit in, you are an individual and the world needs to see that you are different so make 2012 the year that you become yourself!

t enhances taste and look of your dishes; sweet pepper does more than satisfying your taste buds and eyes. More than anybody else, veggies would be more than happy as these colourful peppers can be a boon for skin and health.
Fights Ailments
It is packed with important nutrients like Calcium, Protein, Iron etc . It was believed that sweet pepper had elements which rejuvenated the stomach, boosted the appetite, helped in the process of blood circulation and abated swelling. The excess of vitamin content, the antioxidant and the nutrients present in the Sweet pepper helps in the protection of the body from harmful radicals. “All capsicums have very high content of Vitamin A and C which helps in improving the skin and helps in maintaining health,” says Naini Setalvad, a Mumbai-based nutritionist and obesity and health consultant.
Sweet Pepper For your Looks n It helps to prevent Acne n It strengthens nails and
prevents them from breaking. n It nourishes the skin internally which brings a glow to the skin and makes it look more beautiful.
Mask Me
Including sweet pepper in your diet is beneficial without a doubt. Add these colourful bells to your beauty ritual as well and see how your skin changes for good. There are different masks which could be made from Sweet pepper. Mask for fading and tired skin could be made by adding one tablespoon honey to a chopped red sweet pepper. Apply it for 20 minutes and rinse it with water of room temperature. This will make your skin look fresher. Pale dry skin can also be improved by adding a teaspoon of carrot juice along with a teaspoon of sour cream to a mashed pepper, apply the paste on your skin and rinse it with warm water. This will help in moisturizing your skin which is needed in winters. For Oily skin, you just have to add a tablespoon of yogurt and an egg white to a chopped sweet pepper. Apply it for 15 minutes. “Apart from building up the skin elasticity, it helps in improving Dental health. Besides, adding color to your food and making it more appealing makes your food more appetizing,” Nutrition specialist Dr Hena Nafis rightly sums up.

Bust That Belly Fat Exciting secret foods to get the waist of your choice
The latest diet craze to hit the headlines is the Champagne Diet. It allows the dieter to have 2 flutes of dry Champagne along with a balanced and moderate diet. It’s more of a clever approach to the psychology of weight loss where an otherwise ‘forbidden food’ is being permitted! Ginger- Ginger detoxifies the body and promotes good blood circulation. It also expands the blood vessels and increases body heat which aids in stepping up the metabolism. Include in daily cooking and in tea. Yogurt- It encourages the growth of good bacteria and one can stave off hunger by keeping blood sugar levels even. The protein and calcium found in low fat dairy products helps maintain muscle mass and encourages weight loss. Cinnamon- It has been found that as little as a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon eaten with food helps the body to metabolize sugar faster and lower your blood sugar level. This is because high blood sugar levels can lead to fat storage. Apple- An apple a day will not only keep the doctor away but keep those extra kilos away too! An excellent on-the-go low calorie snack. They contain pectina soluble fiber which supports healthy cholesterol and supports weight loss too. Garlic- Garlic seems unappealing but you may change your mind once you know what it can do to your waistline. It works as a thermogenic in your body speeding up the metabolism and keeping the insulin levels low to maximize fat burning. Include in routine cooking and sauces. Fish-The omega 3 EFA- essential fatty acids contained in fish like salmon, herring, mackerel and tuna, turn on genes involved in fat burning in the body and turn
off genes involved in fat production in the body. These magical EFA also lower triglycerides and reduce fat in organs, tissues and under the skin by burning them as fuel. Include them as supplements or having fresh fish 2-3 times a week. Banana- Other than being a rich source of potassium, it’s a good source of resistant starch. A regular intake of resistant starch has been shown to increase fat oxidation. By default, our bodies first burn off the carbohydrates and then the proteins and fats. Dietary fat gets into the line of fire first if we eat resistant starch. It gets oxidized for energy first, rather than being stored as excess adipose tissue. So the resistant starch here changes the sequence in which the nutrient is burntmuch to our advantage! Have one every day. Water- Though we do not count water as food, but it needs an important mention. Not only does it act as a natural appetite suppressant, it makes your immunity better and flushes out toxins from the body. It also flushes out the byproducts of fat that the body is breaking down, cleansing your system and allowing your body to continue to burn fat, making your weight loss efforts more productive. Have 2- 3 liters every day. In conclusion, go for whole fresh foods (fruits, vegetables, nuts, milk, eggs fish) over refined or processed foods (pasta, pizza, pastries). Make your meals enjoyable and healthy too, without being too harsh on yourself. Moderation is the key.

Majestic Treat T
he Imperial presents an impeccable array of services combined with a rich historical past and slick international appeal. When they launched The Imperial Salon, a unisex salon destination some time back, I knew it would be worth trying. While the place offers all the services that are related to beautification I decided to go for Kerastase Hair ritual. It’s peak of winters and the season brings along a lot of hair problems, so going for this ritual was evident. The staff of the salon analyzed my hair thoroughly. Without me sharing my hair problems with them, they told me that my tresses are very close to healthy hair which means my locks are neither dry nor oily. It is always good to hear nice things about your assets. Although, some areas of my scalp are oily adding to a limpy look, my hair is also familiarizing with thinning. Thankfully, they told me it’s not too late! The other good news they gave me was regarding my coloured hair problem. Post-colouring, my hair had turned dry. Head spa and special hair care products for treated hair didn’t quite seem to work wonders for me. They told me the problem was also in the kind of water I use to wash my hair. Hard water is greatest enemy, I was told. Post-analysis, my scalp was cleansed with Kerastase shampoo according to my scalp and hair type. Yes, the products vary on the basis of your requirement. My mane was also given instant nutrition which was applied on my scalp section-wise. This was followed by mask and good head massage. It was perfect after a long day. Post cleansing, I was given a blow dry. The ritual lasted for approximately one and a half hours. Some experts told me after such rituals no other styling products should be used on hair but they told me it was just a myth! With all doubts cleared, I took a look around the salon. The salon is divided into four lavish rooms which are for male grooming, splendid backwash area, female grooming, and two ultra-luxurious and splendid cosmetic rooms. The Decor is such that most of the time the area is well-lit naturally rather than going for artificial lights. The salon is surely a remarkable addition to the understated luxury at The Imperial, replete with British Raj trivia and unmatched ambience.

Natalia Ningthoujam catches her in a chit-chat mode. n I have huge collection of high heels and watches n My all-time favourite colours are black and white.
But I do play with bright colours like yellows and pink shades n I am a quick shopper. If I want something it takes me ten seconds to buy it.

ost of the models leave behind modeling once they get their hands on movie projects. Sheena Chohan is not one of those models for sure as she wants the best from this industry as well as acting. Whether it is walking on ramp for well-known designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee or Ritu Kumar or acting in National award winning director, Jayaraj’s movie, she has worked with the best from both the industries. We will get to watch this state level swimmer, martial arts expert and trained violin player in Buddhadev Dasgupta’s next.
Beyond Looks
People are not always beautiful as they look or wear. It is more about how sincere you are and your capability to care and love. How you feel is important. What’s within gets reflected on fashion etc.
Natural Lass
I believe in natural products. As a model and an actress, my skin is constantly covered with make-up. Hectic schedule and stress also affect my skin. I have a combination of oily and normal skin so I use oil free moisturizer. I like natural fruit based ones. Sunscreen is another skin care product that I don’t forget to apply. Even at spas I take ayurvedic services.
Always Neat
I am fond of keeping my hair neat. My Mom gives me Champi sessions once or twice a week. I can’t run away from hair damage so I pamper it to get that thick and bouncy locks.
Make-up Change
I think going overboard with make-up is a disaster. During day I use only kohl and lip balm. Night make-up is more about heavy eyes and glam if I choose to wear western outfit. I use mascara and eye shadow to create smokey look. Since traditional wear is already glamorous, I go for nude make-up.
Wardrobe Watch
My wardrobe is a mix of high-end brands and street style. The result of this mix and match is more chic.
Latest Purchase
I love work of Gauri & Nainika. I recently bought a beautiful dress from their collection. It’s light pink and has lovely cuts.

Break the monotonous winter look this year. Shalini Jha unleashes the secret
T
he more the merrier is apt for winter clothing. It is time when you layer yourself to stay warm. At times the process of layering gives you an over-loaded look. But then no one wants to look a size bigger than their actual size!
The Right Kind
The first and foremost thing that should be followed when you shop for winters is that you should keep your body type in mind. ”No one is born with a perfect figure, everyone should wear dresses which suits their respective body type.” says image consultant Manjusha Maheshwari. The body type can be apple, hour glass, brick, pear or even lollipop. Woman bearing an apple shaped body have a wide waist, so the dress which would suit them best could be something with a V neck so that it would distract attention from the waist line and would help in highlighting the bust which is usually the best feature of a woman having an apple shaped body. A fitted winter dress is perfect for those who have an hour glass shape. The brick body shape is broad and masculine. A dress with a round neck and enhancements will give a feminine look. Women with a pear shaped body should go for apparel that highlights their small waist as it would draw away the attention from their large hips and thighs. A dress in tunic style is perfect for pear shaped body. Finally, for those with lollipop body shape, a well structured winter dress which would add volume to the lower part of the body will help in giving a stylish and a fashionable look.
Accessorize It
Scarf is one of the most versatile accessories. It can be worn around neck or waist or hair or even bag!
Courtesy- Allen Solly
You should make the maximum use of the right accessory, choose your ear pieces, bags, clutches, scarves carefully.” You should choose the right earrings nice scarves and the right kind of accessories,” says Maheshwari. College going girls can add colorful scarves to their sweaters or jackets. Scarves with stripes and polka dot designs can go with almost every jacket and sweater. Working women can choose bold colors for their sweaters. Footwear should not be avoided. “Ankle length boots are perfect for young girls. They can wear smart ballerina shoes and can coordinate it with scarves,” says Maheshwari. You can further accentuate your look with hats, headbands, sunglasses and the right jewelry coordinating the body type and the dress.

Not So Typical
If you don’t wish to follow the others, you can try your own styles. “You can divide the saree in two parts and strip the lower part and wear the lower part as a skirt and the upper part in a D shape. This will accentuate the look of the girls and will give them a glamorous and a sleek look,” says Mamta of the designer duo Manu and Mamta. Young girls can also wear the saree over slim fit jeans or leggings and a spaghetti top or a tee in place of a blouse. The saree can be draped in a Mumtaz style also where the saree is draped twice on the waist which gives you a mermaid look. This type of drape might be a little uncomfortable but it looks fabulous on a slim body. While sarees are available in various fabrics like georgette, silk, net, satin, cotton, Khadi, chiffon, crepe, etc, the ones that are in vogue are net, georgette and the lycras.

Gujarati style is called seedha pallu. In this style the pallu is taken from the opposite direction unlike the usual way. The pallu is tucked on the petticoat and is spread across the chest area. Marathi style saree has to be of nine meters. The lower portion is draped in a lungi style and the pallu comes over the chest. This style of draping imparts a lot of comfort and gives a nauvari look. Bengali style saree doesn’t have pleats and is brought back from the right side and the pallu is brought upside the right arm and then it goes over the left shoulder.
