Efficiency of Wind Power in professional power projects Undoubtedly, Earth has come a long way from traditional windmills used to grind corn, to the state-ofthe-art wind turbines that has sole purpose of generating electricity. Amidst all the chaos surrounding the use of fossil fuels that creates pollution, wind energy comes up as one of the apt alternate sources of energy that is green energy. Many scientists believe that it has ability of replacing fossil fuels for electricity generation in future. Wind energy is produced from wind turbines which is a device that converts kinetic energy of wind to mechanical energy. It is eventually converted by a generator attached to it. Although it is not feasible to convert all kinetic energy into mechanical energy but 50 percent of it can be harnessed. It is due to the fact that remaining half passes through the rotating turbines in form of wind. Actually, to score hundred percent on efficiency chart, the wind turbine must have to harness the entire kinetic energy coming on its way. However, it will result in zero velocity or no wind on the other side of turbine but it is unpredictable that wind will flow in which direction. The implemented professional power projects claims 70-80 percent electricity generation. These machines have capacity to generate this much of power but there are many underlying factors that come into play. Such as chances of wind speed being constant is impossible, flow of wind is undetectable instantly and high initial expenditure that become limiting factors of wind energy. The power plant maintenance is not that expensive, but it forms an additional cost along with the requirement of huge land mass. Certainly, it is environment friendly and renewable source of energy that gives it required boost. Other than these facts on the efficiency of wind power especially in terms of productivity, one need to take into consideration its efficiency in terms of cost incurred. The entire concept that withstands the wind power as best power source of future, relies on maximizing output whilst keeping check on expenses incurred on it. After evaluation of cost encountered on development of infrastructure and payback time, it is reliable to say that wind power is cost effective for long term planning. Although, some issues need solution as early as possible to make it an efficient energy source in future. For sustainable future there is a great need to start relying on alternative sources as there is continuous decrease on natural resources like natural gas, petrol and others. Wind energy, solar energy, hydroelectric energy and biomass energy are the knight in shining armor.
