L O C AT I O N & SIZE Before the actual planning, many decisive factors have to be considered and clarified. For example, the right choice of location, including an estimate of the catchment area, is crucial in order to be able to determine the appropriate size of the KristallTurm® High Ropes Course. Furthermore, the site should have an interesting location, with easy access and good connections to the surrounding infrastructure. In addition to the actual High Ropes Course, space must also be guaranteed for additional facilities such as operating buildings and parking spaces.

V I S U A L I Z AT I O N

To give you a vivid and realistic presentation of your project, we can visualize your High Ropes Course. This can either be in form of a superimposition of site photos with a 3D model or virtual renderings. A visualization not only helps to better imagine the High Ropes Course in the intended environment, but is also useful in relation to the submission of plans and the building permit.

P R E S E N TAT I O N In order to be able to present your High Ropes Course project to decisionmakers, investors / sponsors, or authorities in a comprehensible and clear way, we support you with presentation documents. These include photos of similar facilities that have already been realized, 3D visualizations, and technical key data. We are also happy to show visually prepared comparisons between different designs and sizes. Initial, rough ideas for the thematic implementation of the climbing stations can also be included in the presentation if a theming is already known at this point.

PLANNING

The planning of a High Ropes Course is divided into several steps. From the rough planning, in which information on the desired size and available space is relevant, to the static calculation with consideration of, e.g., wind and snow loads, to the detailed planning. Here, the exact plans of the final installation are drawn up and adapted to the local building regulations. In addition, information from a local foundation engineer is necessary to finalize the planning of the High Ropes Course. In addition to the planning of the actual tower, including climbing elements and add-ons, the infrastructure, the environmental design, the operating buildings, and the staffing should also be considered in this step.

THEMAT I Z AT I O N

We offer various climbing element packages that appeal to different target groups. These can be found in our climbing elements catalog. Together, we work out the best possible arrangement and distribution of the climbing elements.

The unique design of each High Ropes Course with attention to details is our great passion. We achieve this by theming the stations according to the client‘s wishes, such as individually designed climbing panels or large vehicles. Particularly extraordinary and unique results are achieved through close cooperation between our designers and the client.

ADDONS

CLIMBING ELEMENTS 8

Time should be invested in the climbing elements as early as possible. The orientation of the High Ropes Course plays a major role here, for example orienting towards mass sports and fun or towards physical training with challenging climbing elements that tend to be energy-sapping.

In addition to the individual climbing elements, we also offer various addons and extensions to further increase the capacity of your High Ropes Course. Many add-ons can also be operated as individual attractions and priced separately. Careful planning is necessary, as the add-on parts usually require additional space and should be placed in the best possible way in the High Ropes Course.

The decisive factor for a unique climbing experience in the High Ropes Course are the climbing elements that visitors have to master.

PA R K I N G & ACCESS For this point, the way visitors arrive is particularly relevant. Do they mainly use public transport, their own car, or come bike or on foot? Accordingly, accesses, driveways, parking spaces, and bicycle stands must be created in sufficient dimensions. The delivery of materials, for example for the kiosk, the removal of waste and so on should also be considered from the beginning.

A well-thoughtout and attractively designed overall facility contributes significantly to the success of the High Ropes Course. 10

www.kristallturm.com

E N V I R O N M E N TA L DESIGN A suitable landscape is important so that visitors feel comfortable and stay. Seating such as deckchairs, picnic tables, or seating areas, and also shady trees and awnings contribute to this. From there, parents or grandparents can relax and watch the children climbing and eat a snack or two from the catering area. Furthermore, the very young should be considered: Playground equipment also offers fun for those who are not yet tall enough for the High Ropes Course. In this way, a unique adventure space is created that is often visited several times and where every member of the family gets his or her money‘s worth. In addition, “cross sales“ generate further income from customers who are actually only there as accompanying persons.

11

O P E R AT I O N S BUILDING A suitable operations building for the KristallTurm® High Ropes Course should not be underestimated. Depending on the location and the infrastructure in the surrounding area, the building can vary greatly. In addition to the material storage and material distribution, there is space for a cash desk, kiosk / catering, and the sale of merchandise. Furthermore, depending on the environment, sanitary facilities, changing rooms, and lockers should also be provided. A wide range of options is possible here. For example, converted and disguised shipping containers can enhance the location, but wooden houses or even masonry buildings are also an alternative.

12

www.kristallturm.com

IMPORTANT FACTORS FOR THE OPERATIONS BUILDING Position: The entire High Ropes Course should be visible from the operations building in order to comfortably supervise all visitors and to be able to act quickly in case of an emergency. Material storage: Dry, airy storage of harnesses, slings, carabiners and so on, protected from sunlight, is important to avoid rapid wear and tear. Care should also be taken to rotate the material so that all pieces of equipment are used in a balanced way. Emergency equipment: A fire extinguisher, emergency phone, and first aid kit should be readily available.

www.kristallturm.com

13

S TA F F I N G Staff search and planning should be started early. Depending on the size of the facility and capacity utilization, 2 to 5 trained guides are needed who are trained by our certified KristallTurm® trainers. Additional support at the registration desk (ticket sales, belt issue etc.) can also be useful. The composition of a motivated, flexible and “height-proof“ team is of great importance. Above all, flexibility in terms of time is an important factor, as the operation of the High Ropes Course can vary seasonally and due to the weather conditions. In addition to job fairs, postings at local colleges and universities or other seasonal businesses such as ski schools or mountain railways is a good way to find suitable staff.

14

www.kristallturm.com

MARKETING Just like the planning of the staff, the preparation and launch of marketing should also be considered. The creation of a meaningful website, social media accounts, and print materials has to take place in the run-up to the completion of the High Ropes Course. A certain degree of awareness at the opening has a positive effect on the further operation. Holistic, regionally adapted marketing is essential for the success of a High Ropes Course and should therefore go in all directions. There must be something for every target group, e.g., flyers in hotels for tourists, regional advertisements and radio advertising, personal visits by companies and schools, and also online marketing for the younger generation. A good mix is crucial here.

CONSTRUCTION SITE As soon as the planning has been completed and all details have been clarified, it‘s time for the implementation. Even if production is already underway, a few things have to be prepared by the customer for the actual installation.

16

www.kristallturm.com

P R E P A R AT I O N CONSTRUCTION SITE

Access: The access road to the construction site must be made accessible for trucks and heavy equipment. Appropriate permits should be obtained in advance to guarantee a smooth process. Storage space & fortification: In addition to the actual construction site, additional space is needed for the storage of materials, tools, and the pre-assembly of components. The storage area should be clean and protected during the entire time and also secured against unauthorized entry. In addition, the construction site must be paved and, in particular, the crane site must be compacted. Electricity & water: Electricity and water connections are needed for the entire construction phase as well as for later operation and must be provided in advance.

www.kristallturm.com

17

F O U N D AT I O N S The position plans of the foundations are provided by KristallTurm® at an early stage so that the foundations are prepared for the start of construction. Usually, concrete foundations are used. If it makes sense, we also work with hybrid foundations, such as Spinnanker. These foundations consist of concrete blocks with steel connecting plates that are anchored in the subsoil with long threaded rods. In this case, we supply the appropriate foundations based on the results of a soil survey. The foundations also require a drainage pipe and pipes for power cables, which are threaded into the poles from the start. It is also advisable to embed a sleeve for earthing in the foundation and to clamp in the bilge conductor. Accompanying documents with detailed information will be provided by us at the start of construction.

18

www.kristallturm.com

CRANE The client must provide a crane for the assembly. Ideally, this should be a tower crane with radio control that can be operated by our workers themselves. Alternatively, a mobile truck-mounted crane is also possible, but this usually requires trained personnel and is therefore only hired out together with a driver.

Reasons for a tower crane: The entire construction site can be reached from one position. Components can be brought vertically between the building structure, while the truck-mounted crane always has to take the angle of attack into account. A truck-mounted crane must be much larger and higher dimensioned than a tower crane in order to achieve similar spans and heights. Tower cranes are usually cheaper than mobile truck cranes.

19

A S S E M B LY The assembly of the High Ropes Course itself is carried out by the experienced KristallTurm® team and long-standing partners. Depending on the size of the facility, assembly takes two to five weeks. Our team is equipped with modern equipment and safety systems in order to work efficiently and quickly.

20

www.kristallturm.com

INITIAL INSPECTION & HANDOVER After successful assembly, each High Ropes Course is inspected according to EN 15567 and only then released for operation. According to the inspection, the client will receive a report. The inspection usually takes place during the guide training while our staff is on site. In addition, a comprehensive, illustrated operating manual, specially adapted to the installation, is given to the client / operator. After the inspection, the High Ropes Course is ready and the operation can start.

21

COMMISSIONING Assembly and inspection are done - the High Ropes Course is finished and the big opening party can begin! But before the High Ropes Course welcomes its first guests, a few things still need to be done.

TRAINING As soon as the staff has been determined, we take care of the training. The guides are trained to operate the High Ropes Course so that you can efficiently run your facility according to the highest safety standards and ensure a smooth operation.

22

www.kristallturm.com

TICKET O R G A N I Z AT I O N A smooth and efficient process also includes the ticket organization. Can tickets be bought on the internet or only on site? Are the tickets limited to a certain time (e.g., 2 hours) or are they valid for the whole day? What different tickets are offered (family price, happy hour climbing, night climbing, etc.)? This should be clarified before going into operation but can also be adjusted during operation if various offers are not taken up or if further offers need to be added.

GRAND OPENING Finally, the time has come - the opening can take place. The opening should be planned with media attention, involving the local press and local influencers (representatives of politics, companies, schools, supporters, etc.). In this way, the level of awareness can be increased even further. There are no limits to the imagination when it comes to the opening and can, with a supporting program, be turned into a successful celebration.
