Rebranding Design

Mr. Brandenburg honored his wife by throwing her a surprise 60 1/2 year birthday party. A party marking her half birthday was certainly unexpected. A second piece was added to the invite, welcoming guests to take part in creating a memory book for the Mrs. The visual form for this project are inspired by the birthday girl’s love for quilting and favorite hues.

To raise money for the Orange School District, the Orange Schools Foundation planned a fall gala, “Wild for Orange.” Different versions of a logo were developed for the event, connecting to different takes on a “wild” party theme. Once the venue for the gala, the Porsche Dealership, was announced, it led to the selection of the logo as well as a lavish, sharp, adventurous feel for the save the date card and other pieces for the event.

Geraci’s Restaurant The University of Dayton senior graphic design project called for the selection of a company from each student’s hometown in need of rebranding. Geraci’s Restaurant in University Heights, Ohio holds a large local draw for their traditional Italian food, attracting my own family for generations. The current Geraci’s brand reflects this feel, but is not consistent. I refined their current logo, solidified brand guidelines, and applied them to new and existing attributes within the company.

The Sawyers family approached Kardinul to launch a primary chip bag, which will later expand into a product line of chip flavors under the family name. Through working closely with the family, multiple logo ideas were presented, each keeping ties to the their Texas roots. After selecting a final logo, it was applied to the single serving size chip bag, keeping a simple design and feel of natural production. The Sawyers are in the process of placing the bag on store shelves.

University of Dayton Campus Recreation As graphic designer for the UD Campus Recreation team, I worked within the university’s brand guidelines to create print and web material for each deparement. The guidlines provided the challenge of staying creative within a set brand. Working closely with professional and student staff, I created facility signage, logos and flyers for events, web banners for the UDCR site, shot event photography, and designed athletic shirts.

Book Design

My college roommate and I found that we work well not only as friends, but in business ventures as well. Her idea of FaithFIT launched our senior year of college, merging passions of faith and fitness. My vision for the visual identity is a current, young, and athletic feel as well as respect for the faith side of the program. The year started out with few people attending each event and ended with packed classes. FaithFIT exists not only as a series of events, but as a way of life. We are excited to see it grow.

St. Paddy’s Day

The Typography II class studied the Designers of Herman Miller to inspire a book layout design for the course assignment. The project utilized articles written by the famous furniture designers.

Installation Design

St. Paddy’s Day brings enormous excitement to students of the Catholic university in Dayton, Ohio. The University of Dayton Irish Dance Club benefits from the campus’ traditional celebration by selling shirts for the holiday. The shirts were successful among the competition of other student groups and university apparel sales for the day filled with green. The success of the shirts was extremely fulfilling to be able to help a club I am passionate about as well as a personal success.

Identity Design

Intercollegiate Irish Dance Festival The University of Dayton Intercollegiate Irish Dance Festival followed the hosting of the inaugural event by Villanova University the prior semester. The branding for the festival stayed within the university brand guide and required approval by the university marketing department. UD found excitement over the event bringing other universities to the school’s campus. It is an exciting time for the intercollegiate Irish dance community and I am thrilled to have taken part in it.

The Designers of Herman Miller

Universal Declaration of Human Rights This assignment gave each student one of thirty Universal Declaration of Human Rights articles. Three students were then placed together to find a way for their individual articles to form together and inform the public about the subject in an installation to be displayed at the university.

Installation Design

Design | Science | Synthesis The semester long course, combining design and science, selected nine students to develop a mini-museum exhibit to exist in the Geology Department of the university. To create an engaging installation, expertise on the Ordovician Period material was required. The knowledge led to successful visual communication with the college students as viewers.
