CONCEPT : Minimalistic Based on the brand’s clean and decisive approach, this concept was created based on clean lines, introduction to icons and inclusion of a southwestern feel, to which the product has its origins, but not in a drastic, cliche’ manner. Here, the idea of each label, unique to its own scent, would be centrally focused on color based on the candles own ingredients. Furthermore this will be accented by a woodblock icon, that would further bring the brand, the candle’s individual scent(s) and handmade approach to harmony.

CONCEPT : Excentuated Imagery Considering that all natural ingredients is an essential part of what makes Sunnybrooke Co. unique, including imagery would be a natural solution. Initially it was a distraction, with having such strong branding for the indivual scent, I didn’t want it to take away from that. So this concept brings out the pattern within an image, and would be translated onto each scent via this manner. It still presents a clean, refined label without the additional distraction of an image that may include too many elements competing with the design.

CONCEPT : Southwest

INSPIRATION
A X
With inspiration and influence on the Southwest, Aztec patterns were introduced as well as a diamond shape which is prevelant within Aztec patterns and designs. This plays with color and pattern more so than just based on a scent’s ingredients. The color of each label would represent each unique scent, and each would have its own pattern to accompany the colors. Each label would remain coheasive in having the text running around the exterior of the label, while the design remains contained.

CONCEPT : Illustrative
INSPIRATION
Illustration and watercolor are handmade processes, therefore it was the inspiration for this label. Unlike the other labels presented, this label would have to be cut in order to open the package. It could however be shortened if that was not a wanted aspect. Each label would have various watercolor illustrations representing the scent and have a coheasive simple background that would include elements of an earthy aztec pattern to bring it’s southwestern roots.

CONCEPT : Patterns Things made by hand are usually something that provides a sense of playfulness and quality. This concept was created with that ideal in mind, and provided a hand drawn quality to the items provided. This includes a pattern that would be created for each label unique to its scent. Eeach label would also have its own color set which would also be created based on the natural colors of the candle’s ingreidents, along with a playful side to the main label piece that would house the name of the scent provided.

CONCEPT : Screen Dream Screen printing comes from a long line of history and was used in many processes before digital printing was created. Using a screen would give off the hand rendered aspect that is so prevelant in the brand’s ideation, but it would provide a level of quality unmatched. This would also give the least amount of labeling needed and wouldn’t distract from the quality of the kraft tubes that the candles are housed in. It would help push the minimalism that is apparent throughout the brand and still give a handmade quality.
