Custom 2-Story Home
Southern Wisconsin
Project Brief
This Single Family Home is a result of the request of certain plan features that were not present within the company’s semi-custom home lineup at the time. The main goal was to create a 2-Story House Plan with a First Floor Owner’s Suite, while staying under 2,500 Square Feet and fitting within the build limits of the customer’s lot.
Objectives
• Evaluate the needs of the customer for this custom single family home. Determine lot constraints, budget and maximum square footage.
• Develop a complete set of construction drawings that meets the customer’s needs and accounts for all structural requirements while working within the design language of existing company home plans.
• Revise the custom plan design for the company’s semi-custom home lineup.
Project worked on under the guidance of KLM Builders Inc.

Company Revision
After internal discussion, a decision was made to incorporate this custom plan into the company’s semi-custom home lineup, with some changes.
A Hallway was added behind the stairs and the Powder Room was relocated and reoriented in order to allow a better pathway to the Owner’s Bedroom and Laundry Room. The Owner’s Bathroom was altered to offer a private toilet room and fit standard bath tubs and shower pans. The Kitchen Island was redrawn to be rectangular to allow more room in the adjacent Great Room.
A series of different exterior elevations were created along with the changes to offer customers choices that align with other company plans.
Marriott & Hilton Brand Hotels
Urban Home2 Suites Kentucky,
USA
Located in the center of a riverfront town in Kentucky sits a monument known as the World Peace Bell. This Bell the world’s largest swinging bell and has a small museum adjacent to it. The area around the bell is growing with new retail and office spaces and the need for a hotel adjacent to the bell has become apparent. To fit the urban environment, the typical Home2 Suites design was altered to accommodate a smaller footprint and a taller profile, allowing the building to be visible from the adjacent metropolitan downtown, just across the river.

Hilton Dual-Brand
Ohio, USA
Designed by Architect Colleague
This Dual-Brand hotel project was designed by a different Architect Colleague, my task was to take the design and update a previous 3-D Model while adding color. Once the model was ready, a series of renderings were produced for the purposes of evaluation the colors, shadow lines and having presentable materials for a zoning meeting.

The growth of a business district and the adjacency of a golf course created a need for a new hotel. The site plan is arranged in a way to fit a hotel tower and parking requirements within a unique site boundary. Due to the adjacency of the golf course behind the building, a design change was made to deviate from the typical Springhill Suites styling. This design change provides a more aesthetic backdrop for the golf course.

IHSAN COMMUNITY CENTER
Ihsan Community Center
Milford, OH
Project Brief Objectives
This fourth-year studio project is a response to an asking for help via the DAAP Cares program at the University of Cincinnati. The school was approached by the Ihsan Community Center, a local Islamic Community looking for ways to make their community more inviting and functional through the use of various design methods.
This project involved extensive research on Islamic architecture and layout, as well as gaining a cultural understanding. Various site visits to other communities and feedback from several community members was used to drive the proposed changes.
This was a six-member group project that was later presented before the Ihsan Community members. I was responsible for all work pertaining to the existing community center structure.
• Evaluate the existing community center conditions and use the data to create a digital model.
• Decide what program requires attention or needs to be added based on the client’s needs.
• Research Islamic Design and Program and input feedback from community members to drive design choices.
• Rework the existing structure to fit the new program and functional needs, keeping budget and realism in mind.
• Look into the use of additional structures on the site to fulfill future needs in later project phases.
Existing Floor Plan
Phase 1 Phase
In the first stage of design, most of the changes are focused on the existing community center structure. As a former warehouse like building, the current program and circulation needs to be reworked to serve the religious and educational needs of the community. A proper entrance, community gardens, and a new parking lot showcase the changes made to the exterior.
In the second stage mosque structure is added new building allows for prayer and frees up space in the community center community events, or overflow prayer services. The parking to accommodate the anticipated from the new mosque.
Phase 2
stage of design, a new added to the site. This for greater capacity for space previously used center building for other overflow for larger parking lot is expanded anticipated growth
Phase 3
In the third stage of design, a new private high school is added to the site. The school is built based on the Ohio school requirements for the community’s anticipated capacity. The goal of the school is to help the community keep the high school aged students involved within the community. The three buildings are unified through design cues and a breezeway.
Phase 1 Phase
In the first stage of design, the community center undergoes many interior changes. Walls are taken down or moved where possible so that circulation is simplified. The prayer space is moved into a larger open area, and properly oriented to face Mecca. A new lobby is added on the left side of the building, while a new lounge and library are added to promote community engagement and education.
In the second stage community center sees changes. The new mosque the need for a dedicated space becomes multi-purpose. can be used as an addition conference space, community overflow from the mosque gathering days.
Phase 2
stage of design, the only programmatic mosque structure eliminates dedicated prayer hall, so the multi-purpose. This space addition to the dining, a community events and even mosque on larger prayer
Phase 3
In the third stage of design, the community center has many of its spaces converted into classroom based uses. Since the high school is now part of the site, the community wants to put more emphasis on education at this stage. Classrooms and office space for students and teachers are added to fulfill these needs. The Multi-purpose and dining spaces are still available for community uses.

Home Plan Revisions and Renderings
Project Brief
Many of KLM Builders’ Semi-Custom House Plans needed some fresh revision. To accompany any changes, new sales brochures needed to be developed that would be on par or better than what other regional builders were giving out. These revisions would also need to be added to the company website.
Objectives
• Revise Floor Plans to meet current trends and fix issues from previous iterations.
• Develop new brochures that showcase the floor plan revisions and include colored 3-D Renderings along with optional upgrades and plan changes.
• Through the use of SketchUp and Enscape, create 3-D models of the revised plans and render the models to show different colors, materials, textures and background context.
