Some straight talk here… in today’s competitive job market, relying on a college
Do you know that graduates who enter the workforce with at least one internship under their belt earn about $11,400 more than those who don’t?
degree to secure a job out of college is not enough.
It’s okay, though,. we have an awesome portal that helps students obtain information about internships, identify helpful outside resources, and get inspired by success stories. And trust us—you won’t be fetching coffee at any of these internships.
And students with internships make a quicker transition from college to career and are more likely to receive a job offer when they graduate.
We have a job bank with more than 3,000 opportunities posted year-round, and we work hard to build relationships with Fortune 500 and other major corporations that recruit on campus. We also offer career counseling, resume critiques, professional networking events, and other workshops designed to get you ready for life after college.

You dream of producing digital media or writing ledes and press releases that hook your audience - whether it’s for the public or seasoned journalists. That takes talent, practice and persistence. Our students practice that talent every day by interning at industry-leading companies such as the Miami Herald, NBC News, Turkel Brands, Fleishman-Hillard, Zubi Advertising, Burson-Marsteller and Scripps. They study under our Knight Innovator in Residence; work in our Media Incubator Innovation Lab; get hands on experience in our campaign classes and our very own faculty-managed, student-operated PR, advertising and marketing agency, the Bold Agency; and write real copy for major newspapers through the South Florida News Service.

At FIU, we offer a university experience as big as you decide to make it because we know college life is about much more than what you learn in the classroom. We’ve got more than 200 student clubs you can participate in. If you don’t find one that interests you, you can create one. We also bring the world’s most provocative thought leaders and entertainers to both campuses each year for concerts, lectures and workshops.
Our Campuses It’s all part of our Worlds Ahead, “think differently” philosophy. As an FIU student, you can attend any home game or match for free – and we’ve got 17 Division I sports teams for you to choose from. Just gather a group of friends and go. If you’d rather break a sweat of your own, we’ve got state-of-theart gyms on both campuses plus plenty of intramural teams. And if you live in one of our residence halls at Modesto A. Maidique Campus or Biscayne Bay Campus, all of these activities are just steps away.
FIU.
Are Drop Dea
You can keep your head down and focus solely on your classes – keep calm and carry on and all that – and we’re sure you’ll graduate and experience success. We’re not knocking it.
d Gorgeous.
The Modesto A. Maidique Campus, where Lakeview Hall is located, ha s one of the largest sculpture parks of any university in the country, and the tropical clim ate means the campus is a lush environment year ‘round.
But life on campus is about making connections and living an experience
you’ll never have again for the rest of your life.
Your home away from home. Big Hit: Sand volleyball, an emerging NCAA sport, is thriving at FIU. The Lady Panthers concluded the 2013 season No. 5 in the country.
