Kristine Balta is a native Latvian. Since 2015 Kristine has been collaborating with a Latvia based architect, being responsible for architectural drawing set of the Preliminary and Technical project stages. Kristine received her 3.5 years Bachelor Degree from Riga Technical University, Latvia. The third year was concluded in Valencia, Spain, participating in an exchange program. Her passion for travelling and languages led her to Portugal where she has been living and working since October 2015. KristineÂ´s determination, life vision and artistic capabilities has always maintaned her busy. Interning in offices in Portugal has been a challenging experience -requiring a lot of focus and persistence. Currently her goal is to land a long term assistant architect position in an office that would valuate her diverse capabilities, give the needed experience and ensure flexible work policy.

Riga city is a new developing Europeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s cultural centre. It is rapidly growing and is a home for thousands of youngsters. Architecture with its variaty attracts many visitors and Rigaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s streets are filled with aparmtent buildings, museums, restaurants - all built side by side. I designed a building that with its facade embodies and reflects the cityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s fast-pace and allows to engage in active sports, in this case rock climbing. The facade however was the only architectural element students could work with, while there were given strict dimensons for the height, width and roof type.

SELECTION OF SKETCHES AND PHOTOGRAPHY While travelling around Europe 2013 - 2017

Since my exchange year in Spain, Valencia, I got the chance to start travelling in several countries around Europe. In the past for years, where ever I travel, I bring my sketchbook and try to illustrate my surroundings - whether it's a fast sketch or more time consuming drawing. By following the basic rules of perspective I generally use ink technique mixed with colored pencils. I explore different techniques and compositions. Having drawn 100 of sketches during my studies and understanding how the building holds itself together, me myself and every architect should be capable of quick illustration of his/her own ideas. in this section are represented only a few of them.

Photography



Photography for me is an integral self-expression form. In this section I am presenting a selection of my work, photos mainly taken during my trips and while living in Portugal. I focus mainly on categories like architecture, landscape and nature. I am exploring light, geometry and compositions that would emphasize or carachterise the object. How the shapes reflect the environment and vice-versa? How the light changes what we see and how the context can make something really simple, blow your mind away? In my opinion, photography is one of the strongest forms of art. Especially for the architects it is a great tool to document, learn and explore different scenes, contexts and compositions. Besides, having understanding about photography is essential to successfully communicate with the potential clients when representing the projects. selected work_PORTFOLIO
