GREAT STORIES Isuzu’s highlights on the last quarter of 2018:

Isuzu Conducts Eco Drive Training As the world’s foremost manufacturer of diesel-powered engine, owning, driving and maintaining an Isuzu commercial vehicle is already a sound business investment in itself. This assures the power, reliability, durability and fuel efficiency in every vehicle that rolls out of its assembly. However, to maximize the strengths of every Isuzu truck, maintaining and operating it must also be up to par with the best practices, techniques and technologies. These best practices and techniques can mitigate the adverse effects of the current volatility of fuel supplies and prices in the global market. This global volatility and the resulting cycle of local price markups and markdowns have been causing headaches for business owners who are finding it extremely difficult to project their medium and long-term profits and losses. During the monthly Isuzu Eco-Drive Training, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has taken the initiative to share the theories, practical knowledge and the latest technology regarding optimal and responsible driving with its fleet customers of Isuzu trucks. . This special

training, which only Isuzu can offer, ultimately aims to support the profitability of the businesses of fleet owners by expertly training their drivers how to drive efficiently. These sessions began in June 2018 and were adapted from Wacom Hokkaido Co Ltd.’s driver education program on fuel economy and safety driving. The program has become well-received by customers over the years. During these training sessions, IPC’s fleet customer representatives (mostly driver employees) engaged in discussions and lectures on economical and efficient driving. Then, participants undergo actual driving exercises using Isuzu’s light-duty vehicles and guided by specially trained expert Isuzu drivers. Finally, participants undergo a seminar on the actual practice of conducting daily inspections which reinforces the preventive maintenance procedures for every Isuzu vehicle. Turnover of Modern PUVs to Boracay Local Transport Group in Boracay Just in time for the re-opening of a rehabilitated Boracay Island, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) turned over to Boracay Local Transport Group Philippines --- units of the Isuzu modernized public utility vehicle (PUV) at the island’s Bolabog Terminal on October 26 -- the very day of the island paradise’s official re-opening to foreign and domestic tourists. Attending the momentous turnover and launch of the approved route were officials of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), IPC executives and representatives of Boracay Local Transport Group Philippines. Per Boracay Local Transport Group, the company supports the Boracay Transport Master Plan which aims to streamline and optimize transportation on the island with the introduction of the hop on, hop off jeepney system which will transport passengers along the circumferential road. For the initial phase of the operations, IPC turned over three units of its modernized PUV. It also brought in its prototype PUV to be displayed during the formal turnover. The Isuzu PUVs were assembled using the Isuzu QKR77 cab and chassis platform and the rear body designed, and manufactured by Almazora Motors Corp. The units are Coolaire air-conditioned 23-seater Class 2 type PUVs with a side-facing seat configuration. The new PUV body is compliant with Philippine National Standards (PNS 2126:2017). The passenger cabin floor-to-ceiling height and gangway width are 1,780 mm and 830 mm, respectively, providing more space for passengers to move easily inside. The passenger door is safely situated on the right-hand side, facing the sidewalk. Other design features of the body in-

clude panoramic windows and windshields, full-body insulation with GeneQ shield, automatic door closer, ECE-compliant headlamps, brake system, wipers, windshield washer and side view mirrors, and provisions for persons with disabilities. Completing the modernized look and features of the new PUVs are the LCD/LED TV monitors and CCTV system by Mikasa, a fire extinguisher, a Vectras GPS navigation system, dashcam and back-up cameras. All of these have been geared for passengers’ safety, entertainment and added convenience. The new PUVs also come with separate warranty coverages for the platform (3 years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first), body and aircon which are options not available for old jeepneys. IPC President Hajime Koso, who attended the turnover ceremony, lauded the groups responsible for the transformation of Boracay Island: “I congratulate all concerned individuals and organizations in the public and private sectors for pooling their efforts to restore Boracay’s place among the world’s most beautiful islands. IPC is most certainly proud to share its expertise and world-class vehicles with the people of the island. Our modernized PUVs are very much aligned with the government’s vision of a modern, safe, efficient, cost-effective and environment-friendly transport system not only for Boracay, but for the entire Philippines.” The modernization of Boracay’s transport system is part of the government’s ongoing Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) envisioned to replace some 200,000 jeepneys nationwide of 15 years and older with new, safe, and environment friendly PUVs. GREAT STORIES Isuzu’s highlights on the last quarter of 2018:

Isuzu at the Auto Focus Pre-Christmas Test Drive

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), the country’s leading manufacturer and distributor of diesel-powered light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and commercial vehicles (CVs), participated in the 2018 Auto Focus Pre-Christmas Multi-Brand Test Drive Festival (AFPCTD) held last November 15 to 18 at the SM Mall of Asia open grounds in Pasay City. For this pre-Christmas edition of Auto Focus’ bi-annual Multi-Brand test drive festival, IPC offered public test drives of its Isuzu mu-X LS and LS-A SUV variants, and two units of the D-MAX LS pickup. All Isuzu test units are powered by the BluePower-technology RZ4E diesel engine. Visitors had the chance to a first-hand encounter of the power, efficiency and handling of the Isuzu mu-X LS and LS-A as well as the D-MAX LS at the test drive festival. The Isuzu RZ4E engine is the result of the Japanese carmaker’s 4 years of extensive research in BluePower diesel engine technology and represents Isuzu’s first foray into the lower displacement but higher output engine technology that has become a trend worldwide. Even while capable of generating maximum 150 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque, the RZ4E-powered Mu-X has been recorded to yield up to 37 km per liter on straight highway runs. The RZ4E engine is also 60 kg lighter than the previous 4JK1 engine meets Euro4 emission standards and is noticeably more quiet with less vibration.

With over 200 new components all put together to decrease engine friction and a new water-cooled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) system that ensures that the engine has excellent throttle response even at low rpm, the Isuzu RZ4E Blue Power engine assures improved fuel economy and less exhaust emissions. The public also had the chance to see the Isuzu mu-X up close with ICL accessories on display -- the same unit shown at the 7th Philippine International Motor Show last October 24 to 28 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. This accessorized Isuzu mu-X featured a door handle trim set, over fender, door visor, muffler cutter, rear bumper garnish, rocker plate and an organizer box. Since 2005, Auto Focus has been holding its multi-brand test drive festivals twice a year. Organized by Sunshine Television Ventures (STV), the AFPCTD provides the car-buying public, as well as auto enthusiasts, the opportunity to test drive as many current year models from different car companies as possible, with the mantra “Test drive it, before you buy it.” IPC has been regularly participating in the Auto Focus test drive festivals, firmly believing that the best attributes of its world-class diesel-powered vehicles are revealed when they are actually put to use on or off the road.

GREAT STORIES

Isuzu’s Team Pilipinas – all smiles for bagging the top spot in CV Division - Category B of I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition.

Isuzu’s highlights on the last quarter of 2018:

Isuzu PH Grand Champs at I-1 Grand Prix Continuing its winning streak of being among the world’s best in service skills and technical knowledge, the Isuzu Philippines team of service technicians was again hailed as Grand Champion of Category B: Euro 4 and below Emission Class Regulation at the end of the Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition last December 6 at the Isuzu Monozukuri Service Training Center in Fujisawa, Japan. The I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition is an annual competition for technicians coming from different Isuzu subsidiaries and operations worldwide. This is the search for Isuzu’s number one (“I-1”) in service skills and automotive knowledge. There are two divisions: the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) and Commercial Vehicle (CV) Division. The LCV Division competition was held last September where Isuzu Philippines placed fourth. As for the CV Division, it is further divided into two categories, Category A: Euro 6 Emission Class Regulation and Category B: Euro 4 and below Emission Class Regulation.

IPC President Hajime Koso extended his congratulations to the winning members of the team. “Team Pilipinas’ inspiring performance at the recent Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition serves to reinforce IPC’s reputation as a world-class workforce. Our teams have been consistent winners since 2013, and though there is always room to be even better than before, it cannot be denied that the training our technicians receive, combined with their dedication to their chosen craft has made Team Pilipinas and IPC, the standard bearers on the world stage. At the same time, I am also very happy that our team’s achievements in this competition, in the past years, have served to inspire members of our dealership network in the Philippines to strive to be the best in their own capacities.” Isuzu’s Team Pilipinas have been previously awarded 3rd place in the CV Division - Category B in 2013, 2nd in 2014, 1st in 2015, 3rd in 2016 and 5th in 2017.

The Philippine team, composed of technicians and Isuzu Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) graduates Jusua B. Cantre from Isuzu Bulacan, Khent John Q. Ventura from Isuzu Cavite and their coach Gian Franco R. Cosico from Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), bested 70 technicians from 35 different countries across Isuzu’s global dealership network to bag the top spot in the CV Division Category B:, Euro 4 and Below Emission Class Regulation. Since 2013, the Isuzu Philippines team has consistently placed fifth or higher in the Isuzu World Technical Competition. A large part of their success has been attributed to the high level of competition at IPC’s annual Isuzu Service Skills Olympics (ISSO), apart from the professional dedication and discipline of the IPC dealers’ Parts & Services personnel pour into their daily work.
