Not only that, but we’re certain to be voraciously exploring every performance advantage in pursuit of victory along the way. Since the earliest era of mountain biking, our passion for cross country has remained unwavering, from Ned “The Captain” Overend winning Worlds in 1990, to Annika Langvad and Ariane Kleinhans dominating multiple Absa Cape Epics, to grassroots racers everywhere, we give XC racers the fastest, podium-bound cross country mountain bikes possible.

DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY WOMEN'S COMPETITIVE XC GEOMETRY There’s going fast, and then there’s going fast with stable and confident control. The stack height and reach provided by Women’s Competitive XC Geometry is optimized to ensure you’re able to achieve the most efficient climbing position possible, ascending powerfully at speed and maximizing every pedal stroke, while still being able to descend confidently over technical terrain.

FACT CARBON FSR FRAME Whether you're going up or down the trail, it's no secret that lighter is faster. That's why our engineers obsessively work at refining our carbon frames to shave every non-essential gram. At the same time, every tube's shape and location is scrutinized, resulting in a sleek, stronger design that's optimized for utility. In terms of efficiency, it also allows for internal cable routing, massive bottom bracket shells, 142mm or greater rear hub spacing, and a tapered head tube. And for handling, FACT IS carbon frames permit a FSR 6-Pack or Concentric shock linkage for the perfect pivot location and suspension movement. In real-world terms, this equates to smoother, more responsive travel for an unparalleled ride quality.

BRAIN SUSPENSION Brain suspension technology was developed to deliver the utmost in efficiency on the trail. Whether it's at the front or rear of a bike's suspension, Brain is able to differentiate between rider input and trail bumps, ensuring that your pedaling forces aren't being wasted in compressing the suspension. But how does it work? Well, when you encounter a bump, the patented Inertia Valve disengages. This allows the oil to flow, which means that the shock immediately transitions from firm to fully active. When pedaling, however, Brain technology works to keep the suspension firm in order to maximize pedaling efficiency. Meanwhile, the easily accessible Brain Fade dial allows you to fine-tune how firm the shock is when not hitting bumps.

WOMEN'S COMPONENTS By creating ergonomic and size-specific components, such as cranks, handlebars, and women’s Body Geometry saddles, female riders can be assured of the most comfort and best fit at every contact point. There’s nothing like the unbridled spirit of the lightweight Fate to put a smile on your face, particularly as you haul uphill and leave all competitors gasping in your dusty wake. Dirt is this bike’s playground, and the definition of play in this case ranges from lining up at an XC race, to putting in some quality miles on local trails with your speed-obsessed friends. FACT CARBON HT FRAME When it comes to the creating the perfect blend of climbing efficiency and proper trail manners, it's nearly impossible to beat a carbon hardtail frame. The reasons for this are stacking. To start, compared to a full-suspension mountain bike, the lack of linkages, shocks, and extra cables saves a tremendous amount of weight. Then there's the issue of the power transfer of pedaling forces. With a hardtail, you'll never run the risk of dissipating your efforts by compressing the suspension with your pedal stroke, meaning that every watt is going straight to the rear end of the bike. And with a carbon fiber construction, this is amplified to a high degree.

A1 PREMIUM ALUMINUM FRAME By controlling everything from the raw material to extrusion, butting, swaging, and heat treatment of the tubes, we’ve optimized our A1 Premium Aluminum frames for the best balance of ride characteristics. Our proprietary aluminum tubing blends high performance, light weight, and high value to create frames that are light, strong, and corrosion-resistant.

MULTI-CIRCUIT DAMPING We don't believe in words like "average" and "value." Instead, we want every fork to perform how it should, which means that the all-too-common "pogo" effect of entry-level suspension forks is just unacceptable. Call us obsessive, but in cross country racing, we know that every gram counts. That’s why the Roval Control SL 29 wheels place a strict focus on competitive XC racing, meaning that they deliver in the weight, stiffness, and durability departments. To do so, they’re hand-built on ultralight and incredibly stiff carbon rims that are manufactured with a Zero Bead Hook design. This design pairs perfectly with tubeless tires, while also increasing both strength and impact-resistance. Meanwhile, the rims have been laced via DT Swiss Revolution spokes to strong alloy hubs with DT Swiss 240 internals (rear only) that serve-up lightening-fast engagement and acceleration. Please note that these wheels were developed exclusively for use with 142+ compatible Specialized frames, and accordingly, they’re stiffer than their non-142+ counterparts in order to provide maximum XC performance.

Not all carbon wheelsets have to cost an arm and a leg. Case in point are the Roval Control 29 Carbon mountain bike wheels. Using techniques learned while developing the SL iteration of the Control 29, these wheels are able to produce the lightweight XC performance you need at a more attainable price. Don’t confuse “value” with a degredation in performance, however, as these rims have much of the same features found on the SL, like the Zero Bead Hook design. This allows for continuous fiber layup across the sidewall and rim bed, resulting in stronger impact resistance. You also get DT Swiss hub internals at the rear hub for quick engagement and acceleration and the attention to detail that only hand-built wheels can provide.
