The Cornelius Mixed Use. Adaptive Reuse. Hospitality DATE Spring 2011 LOCATION Portland, OR DURATION 1 Semester Individual Project CONCEPT To rehabilitate the old Cornelius Hotel into an affordable hostel geared towards younger outdoor recreational travelers. Guests experience a transition from the past to the present with a strong centralized connection that encourages gathering. This energy is carried throughout the building through transparencies, floor to floor relations and connection to the surrounding parks, with a focus on sustainable design strategies and support for the local community of Portland.
DESIGN GOALS +Create an affordable, destination hostel for young travelers +Promote and support the active community, eco-tourism, and recreational tourists +Preserve historic features while contrasting it with modern day standards +Support the local community through the use of local artwork, materials, custom made furniture, and food +Create an atmosphere where both locals and tourists can dwell together +Design sustainably by using eco-friendly and recycled products, passive cooling strategies, and natural day lighting

Studio Inc. is a multi-disciplinary architecture and interior design firm. The of is inspired by the energetic shapes and dynamic qualities of origami and the connections it has to an office environment. Through the use of skewed geo dramatic angles, the origami inspired structures form the collaborative space minds come together. Kind Kare is a sliding scale health care clinic that has a calming and comfort environment where every individual feels welcome. By incorporating nature, a lighting, curvilinear and wheelchair accessible spaces, the patient is able to c through the building with ease. Furniture Design Chair Design. Furniture Construction. DATE Spring 2010 DURATION 8 weeks Individual Project CONCEPT
The idea behind the “Hush Hush Chair� was to create a compartmentalized chair with multiple hidden functions. The modern chair first appears to serve only as a seat, but hidden in its folds are functional pull outs and storage spaces. It is made out of layered plywood and recycled wood scraps for the table and drawer.
