The Salvation Army Augusta Area Command 1384 Greene Street Augusta, Georgia 30901 (706) 826-7933 Office (706) 826-1801 Fax FAQs about MyVolunteerPage.com I’ve volunteered with The Salvation Army Augusta Area Command in the past. Do I need to complete a new profile? If you, or your group, have volunteered since October 2011 please contact the Volunteer Coordinator to see if you have an existing profile first. If so, you’ll be given your user name and a temporary password so that you can update your profile. Anyone who has volunteered before October of 2011 will need to create a new profile. Can my children volunteer? We have opportunities for volunteers young and young at heart! Our Soup Kitchen is a great opportunity for children ages 9 and older (again with a parent), while volunteering in our Family Stores require that you are 18 or older. Volunteers ringing the bells at our Red Kettle do not have to be any specific age as long as those under 18 years of age are supervised by a parent or guardian. If you are looking for a way to get your little ones involved please contact our Volunteer Coordinator. From time to time simple projects are available that are great for our Elementary Aged Volunteers such as putting together cards of encouragement or packing hygiene kits. How do I register to serve in the Soup Kitchen or at Special Events? Individuals
who
are
interested
in
registering
to
volunteer
in
our
Soup
Kitchen
should
visit http://bit.ly/Oz8An8 to complete an online form. Once this form is completed, and they are notified that they are approved they will be able to register for shifts through MyVolunteerPage.com using the user name and password that they create during registration. Volunteers will be able to register only for opportunities for which they qualify. For instance, if a volunteer is 8 the volunteer role Soup Kitchen Assistant will not appear as an opportunity, because volunteers must be 9 or older to serve in the kitchen. Please note that each volunteer should create their own profile and register separately for the soup kitchen and events unless otherwise noted. This includes parents and children; parents should plan to register for the same shift and accompany their children who are under 18 while volunteering. (Continued on Next Page)
The Salvation Army Augusta Area Command 1384 Greene Street Augusta, Georgia 30901 (706) 826-7933 Office (706) 826-1801 Fax FAQs about MyVolunteerPage.com I have a group (school, business, civic club, other organization) that is interested in serving. How do we learn about opportunities and sign-up? Groups can also create a profile on MyVolunteerPage.com by visiting http://bit.ly/Oz7Yhp. Only one person from each group should complete a profile for the group. An alternate point of contact can however be listed on the group's profile. Once the group point of contact receives an approval message, they will be able to register for group opportunities through the portal. Again, for group opportunities only those projects that the team qualifies for will appear in the group profile. So if the group is primarily made of youth 9 Years of Age and Older only those group opportunities that require volunteers be 9 years of age and older will appear. If you have ideas for projects that are not listed, please feel free to contact the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss them! I'm interested in serving as a long-term volunteer. How do I get involved? You can start by creating a long-term volunteer profile athttp://bit.ly/SgjleY. This tells our Volunteer Coordinator what your availability is, what your interests are, what skills and qualifications you have, as well as how much time you would like to commit. After completing this profile, if there is a volunteer need that fits your skills, talents and availability the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you. Until then you are welcome to contact the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss opportunities, or register to get involved with opportunities such as serving in our Soup Kitchen or at an event. I'm not very good with computers. Can I still get a paper application? Absolutely! Give our Volunteer Coordinator a call, and we will mail you one!
