Policies and Procedures Camp Hours: Full day camps will last from 9:00-3:00. Junior Camp will last from 9:00-1:00. Age Policy: Camp Kroc is for children who are 5K-12 years old. Junior Camp is open to children who are 3-5 by September 1, 2012. Daily Option: Campers may attend camp for a single day if there are spots available. The day rate is $25.00 for members and $30.00 for nonmembers. Reservations: Any week of camp can be reserved for a $30.00 fee. This fee is taken off of the final balance owed and is not refundable. Additional Hours: Early drop off will be available as early as 7:00 am and late pick up will last as late as 6:00 pm (for the full day camp only). The cost for early drop off and/or late pick up is $20 per camper per week for nonmembers or $15 per week for members, or a daily fee of $5. A $.50 per minute charge will be added for each minute after 6:00 pm. Drop off/Pick up procedures: Drop off and pick up will occur at the Information Desk located inside the main entrance. Campers must be signed in and out by a designated adult in the presence of Kroc Center camp staff. Campers will only be released to adults who are listed as “authorized to pick-up” and must present their ID upon pick up. Certifications: The Kroc Center is pleased to announce that our camps are American Camp Association accredited. This means that we must reach and maintain high safety, counselor, food and activity standards for all day camps. Counselors: We take pride in hiring camp staff that are the best in the business. Our counselors work hard to ensure that every camper feels special and has a one of a kind experience. All camp counselors are certified in CPR, First Aid, AED and Safe From Harm. We are careful to ensure that there are always at least 2 counselors present with campers and that we do not exceed a 1:10 ratio for full day camp and a 1:6 ratio for Jr. Camp.
Attire: It is recommended that campers come ready to play! Your child will enjoy activities the most if wearing socks and closed toed rubber-soled shoes. For girls, we do not recommend wearing skirts or dresses. Please have your camper wear his or her bathing suit under clothes on days he or she will participate in water activities. On water days, campers should pack a towel and change of clothes. Meals: Both Kroc Camp and Junior Camp will provide a hot lunch to campers. Campers may bring a snack each day. When packing a snack, please keep in mind the food allergies of other children and avoid snacks with peanuts. Campers will be responsible for storing snacks and eating them at the appropriate times. Cancellations: Monetary refunds will not be given unless a camp session is canceled by Kroc Center staff. No prorated rates will be given for partial attendance to include: illness and behavioral issues. Refunds placed on Kroc Center gift cards are not redeemable for cash. Enrollment Forms: Each camper must have certain forms on file to include: program enrollment form, camp waiver, medical release form, authorized pick up form. These forms are to ensure the safety of your child. Please make sure forms are filled out accurately and completely. It is important that you list any special needs that your child may have. These items may include medical or behavioral needs. Lost Items: Lost items are kept for 4 weeks then are donated to The Salvation Army Family Store. We recommend labeling your child’s clothing to assist him/her in not losing these articles. Lost items will be logged at the Welcome Desk and kept in our designated lost and found area. What not to bring to camp: Some items are not welcome at Camp Kroc for the safety of the children as well as to encourage interactions among campers. These items are: electronics, expensive
jewelry, shoes with wheels in the soles, sugary snacks or drinks, drugs or alcohol (of any type), weapons (real or pretend) and money. If our camp counselors see these items they will be taken from the camper and given to the parent at sign-out. Illness Policies: Camp is not designed to handle ill children. If your camper becomes ill while at camp, our staff will contact you to pick him/her up. Staff will treat minor injuries requiring application of a bandage or ice. If further medical attention is required or if we are unsure of the severity injury parents will be notified immediately. Behavior Expectations: The Camp Kroc program strives to offer every child, regardless of ability, the opportunity to participate in recreational activities that are both fun and educational, allowing him or her to learn new skills, foster relationships and build selfconfidence. We take bullying of any kind very seriously. Camp counselors are trained in using positive discipline techniques to create a positive environment that welcomes campers to grow and learn. Behavior Management: We believe preventing negative behavior from happening is the best way to avoid consequences for misbehavior. Camp Kroc uses a rewards system to promote positive behavior. Should disciplinary action become necessary, our camp staff will utilize verbal warnings, time out sessions to think about the problem and sometimes parents may be asked to pick up their child. At this time, camp staff will sit and discuss behavior issues with the guardian. Some acts such as fighting, theft, and possession of weapons and drugs may require a camper to be immediately suspended or expelled from the program.
