KROWN MEDIA PRESENTS

THE LOGOBOOK JOEL KAZIRO

JON BROWN

MIKE CROWE

KROWN MEDIA

Krown was born out of a desire to create. Interestingly enough Joel designed the potential candidates for the logo to which himself and Jon selected the current logo we have now. Massive controversy

surrounded the presence of the red full stop; Jon and Mike were staunch anti-full stoppers while Joel remained a steadfast fan of the full stop. Initially outvoted by the majority, the full stop was

erased but Joel held on. In early March, the website design changed dramatically, bringing a new black, cream and red theme to the Krown Media repertoire – and of course, a red full stop. Well played Joel.

MIRIAM WHITEHOUSE

Miriam Whitehouse is a young talent based in Chesterfield that’s just getting her business off the ground having been into photography for quite some time. Often the avid assistant photographer of Jon

Brown at weddings across the country, she’s worked with Krown on many different projects. Having been sent the 3 alternative designs (as shown above), Miriam decided on the 2nd option, preferring the

final design as a favicon for her up and coming website. The branding for her website will no doubt match the talent that she shows. Determined to use her camera for global justice, we salute you Miss W.

WEDDINGS

Weddings are awesome and Jon Brown is no stranger to the nuptials. Jon has been doing wedding photography for several years and his camera has taken him all over the UK. This inspired Joel and Mike

to reinforce the wedding services offered at Krown and they began to create wedding stationary. James and Alyssa were good friends of Joel from back in the NUCU days so when news of their betrothal

came up – Joel jumped straight onto the brandwagon. The other James however is Mike’s cousin and when he decided to marry his beloved Chloe, Mike was only too happy to design their stationary.

NOTTINGHAM CHRISTIAN UNION

Joel & Jon worked for the media team at Nottingham University Christian Union for 2 years under the iron fist of Joy Lennon (who actually is a sweetheart with an evident gift of leadership and runs a tight ship).

Mostly designing posters that advertised NUCU events, sometimes the job ventured into branding, clothing and web design. Since the old logo was starting to become out-dated, Jon took to Photoshop and rebranded

the saints, and they still love it. Check it out at www.nucu.org.

YOUTHWORK

Engage & Detonate Youthwork is growing ministry at Grace Church with many dedicated leaders and excitable young people. Obviously, to connect with young people in this digital age, it’s necessary to be technically savvy and

6 | THE LOGOBOOK

engaging – so graphic design for flyers, stationary, videos and the like is an important aspect to outreach that the church is starting to employ well. The ministry is comprised of kids from academic years 5 -6

(Engage), 7 – 9 (Detonate) and 10 – 13 (Identity), and the sole purpose of the ministry is to introduce and encourage young people to love Jesus.

SERMON SERIES

Preaching is a fundamental part of church life, and it’s important that preaching series are well organised, well taught and well publicised. Ephesians: God’s New Society is Grace Church’s attempt

at communicating the idea that God has saved us from hell and an unsatisfying life but also saved us to form his church – a community of people that live counter-culturally, displaying the glory of God

to the watching world. The story of Joseph is so much bigger than a technicoloured dream coat, but rather looks at an all powerful God that influences history for the greatest good of his people.

SYMBOL

This publication is just a series of musings about the symbols that represent the biggest influences and themes in the world. An emoticon represents the rise of superficiality in an age that’s becoming

8 | THE LOGOBOOK

increasingly more digital and increasingly more individualistic; speech marks symbolise the power of the spoken word; an ampersand embodies the beauty of typography; a treble clef denotes a

phenomenon of mankind that unites the emotional, spiritual and physical forces in every human being – namely music. Aptly taglined, symbol is a series of reflections on Iconography of the 21st century.

RENEW

‘Put off the old self with its practices and put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.’ - Colossians 3: 9 – 10. Christianity makes some massive claims

and the God of the Bible makes some incredible promises – which more than often are difficult to believe, for believers and non. Renew is a collection of in depth interviews with people whose

lives have been completely transformed by Jesus Christ, designed to show how great the one true God really is. For sceptics, for strugglers, for the faithful and the faithless – God is going to renew.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE

Mike designed this logo so it could be put onto the winners’ t-shirt at the annual Nottingham University Ultimate Frisbee Beginners tournament. It was our dream to beat the competition, collect our trophy and don

the decoration of the victor – as our defeated subjects watched in envy. Things were looking up as we reached the final, armed with two superb throwers and catchers that valued the win more than their

health. However, when faced with a bunch of spirit filled players, namely the ‘Christian Allstars’ – the odds were insurmountable and we were dispatched to runners up, awarded with a free samosa. Cheers.

THE ETHOS

CREATE. PRESENT. DISCUSS.

We believe that we humans are made in the likeness of God and like the Creator, we love to create. For us, producing media is an expression of who we are. As well as creating for our own pleasure, we really

like using our skills to help and work for people, charities, churches and businesses. If you want us to work for you then get in touch. Art is never meant to be kept hidden. It’s meant to be shared. The

Krown Media website is our gallery. Our forum. Our showcase. If you’re a photographer, designer, fine artist, poet, writer or musical genius and want to share your talents with the world, let the Krown help you. Enjoy.
