Every one of us at KRU is a cyclist. We love sports and we appreciate the effort required to reach a distant objective. At our company we believe we need to support two types of competition. The first one is that of every cyclist competitor in the world, amateur or professional, climber or time-trialist, stage or sportive racer. The other one is a belief that, ultimately, sport is about improving oneself and making sure you’ve given it your best effort. That’s why our main goal is to make the most advanced and comfortable components. We want to help you Advance Your Riding. We are introducing the most advanced range of cycling wheels. KRU wheels are completely re-engineered and designed from the ground up, effectively raising the technology level in the market and the riding experience of cyclists. We achieved this with patented proprietary technologies, clever design solutions and visually appealing features. KRU comes from the word CREW, a group of people who work closely together. We love training and sport is what brought us together when we first met in Milan, Italy, 20 years ago. We then became passionate cyclists and later started successful professional careers creating and selling wheels and other cycling components for some of the most renowned brands. Many of these products are so popular that if you own a road bicycle there’s a good chance you are already using one of our products today. Fast forward now, we decided to come back together for the KRU project to combine our experiences and join forces in starting a new page of the cycling industry. We apply our passion for cycling to everything that we do: product research, design engineering, careful testing, carbon fiber manufacturing, mechanical know-how, and chain supply knowledge.

Each element is a part of a greater whole. That’s why we call the main features of our products K-elements.

KRU wheels are designed in-house from the ground up. Our product development is characterised by a willingness and ability to question every prior assumption the industry has made. The KRU team has a strong experience creating products for many of the most renowned cycling brands. We make our decisions by staying in close contact with cyclists and we are motivated by an immense passion for this sport and lifestyle. Our products are made to bring meaningful and practical improvements through clever technical solutions so that we can offer value to as many cyclists as possible. KRU wheels are built on 5 innovative technologies that bring meaningful improvements for both the professional and amateur rider. The technological advancements we introduce to the cycling industry span across every possible stage of the product development process. Research of new patented technologies, reengineering of manufacturing processes, development of proprietary design, exploration of new combinations of materials, strict quality testing processes are some of the tools we use to shape our products. In recent years the development of cycling wheels has been predominantly focused on assembling together parts from different manufacturers or at most applying minor modifications to the shape of the rim. The industry appears to have failed to introduce meaningful technology advancements and to have completely forgotten the central component of a wheel’s structure: the hub. Our approach has been diametrically opposite, the hub is where we’ve started the development. During our research we noticed two big areas for improvement over existing products on the market. One is an imperfect alignment of the bearings which often causes durability issues, especially when the quick release skewer is tightened excessively. The other, is that the vast majority of cyclists never apply any maintenance to the wheel, even less to the hub. This means that there is a substantial amount of cyclists whose wheels and hubs are literally slowing them down. To address these issues we have completely redesigned the structure of a wheel hub and patented it under the name of Enhanced Bearings Performance (EBP). The KRU hub assembly process is also unique in the industry. We use a full 5 axis CNC machined production process in a single manufacturing station while bearings are all inserted at once with optimal alignment and controlled preload. EBP brings numerous benefits. Firstly, our hubs provide minimum friction and rolling resistance. The performance is comparable to those with ceramic bearings with the distinctive difference that we are able to guarantee exceptional durability and much better value at a lower price point. In fact, KRU hubs are guaranteed to require no maintenance for 200.000 km. An additional benefit is that our product is unaffected by over-tightening of the quick release skewer. Effectively, KRU hubs make you go faster and maintain their performance for much longer than any other product on the market. • Higher Power efficiency compared to traditional hub • Unaffected by over-tightening of the quick release • No maintenance required (200.000 km guaranteed) • Fast rolling resistance and lower friction - comparable to ceramic bearings

The EBP technology we applied to the KRU hub is now available for disc brakes. EBP-D is the hub technology for advanced cyclists and professional athletes that prefer the modular braking performance of disc brakes. For this project we started with the performing and revolutionary EBP platform we developed for standard rim caliper brakes and completely re-engineered it to meet the different mechanical requirements.

Spokes failure is the most common maintenance issue affecting road cycling wheels for many cyclists. Tackling this problem quickly become a priority in our effort of completely redesigning wheels. Spokes are central in making sure that the structure of a wheel maintains its rigidity. Causes of their failures include imperfect alignment, an incorrect amount of tension because of improper setup or loss during normal use. To create the SAS technology we have drilled an hemispherical groove in the hub flange and added a ball shaped washer placed underneath the spoke head. This design allows spokes to perfectly align from the hub flange to the rim increasing their ability to withstand tension loads, maintaining the shape of the wheel at lower tension and decreasing the risk of wheel failure. Major benefits of the SAS technology include higher stiffness which maximises power transfer, higher durability, lower risk of broken spokes and an improved riding experience, especially on fast corners. Our tests have demonstrated an ability of KRU wheels to reach very extreme lean angles at corners

In our effort of rebuilding wheels from the ground up, our research showed clear areas of improvement in the way rims are manufactured. In particular, we focused on improving their structure. The structure of a wheel directly affects its stiffness, speed and durability. KRU technologies address two areas in particular: lamination and materials. Seamless Laminate Construction (SLC) and Structural Laminate Enhanced Design (SLED) solve industry-wide challenges in the lamination stage of carbon rims manufacturing processes. Also, thanks to our knowledge of materials, we have introduced Vapor Grown Carbon Fiber (VGCF), a clever solution that solves the conundrum of striking a balance between strong mechanical properties and the ability to resist high temperatures. Our wheels take advantage of high quality manufacturing facilities and we invest strongly in research & development and quality control. We constantly monitor production and apply strict tests to ensure our wheels are reliable and durable. True to our intention to strive for continuous advancements in cycling technology, we set up our own tests to raise the bar of industry standards. An example is our “European alps test” reproducing the stress of the steep descents of italian Dolomites mountains and demonstrating the outstanding performance of our materials and designs.

The most common disc wheel solution in the market is a normal wheel with a cover which means that while using that wheel you are carrying a lot of unnecessary weight with a structure optimized to be something it’s not used for. Our approach has been instead to optimize for its real life use. That’s why our Disc Wheel is a single piece monocoque wheel that is empty inside. The walls of the wheel are structural since they carry their own weight. This makes the wheel very light with superior stiffness. • Structural Laminate Enhanced Design • Carbon lamination provides a strong construction for our disc wheel • Empty wheel with structural carbon walls to obtain high stiffness at low weight (approx 980g without coating for our W-GEAR disc wheel)

The 3K Twill pattern is one of the most interesting new releases from the KRU Cycling Research & Development team. It brings an advancement in the structure of the carbon rim while also introducing a new distinguished design. During the building process of the carbon rim with the traditional plain layout the resin has a difficult time flowing through the carbon pattern creating scarcity at the periphery, an issue called “pin holes”. With the Twill pattern the resin is able to flow freely and cover the entire surface evenly, substantially improving the occurrence of pin holes and making the compound stronger. Another significant improvement is the radial direction of the twill pattern, compared to the lack of orientation of the traditional plain layout. This is a superior solution to withstand the daily stress that a rim is subject to. THE 3K TWILL PATTERN: • Increases the structural properties of the rim and extends its durability • Brings the same mechanical properties of the plain layout at a lower weight • The rim is better able to absorb the stress generated by spokes tension and by the impact of the road surface

Wholistic aerodynamic design • Wholistic aerodynamic design takes into consideration all relevant variables, including the tyre • “Wing shape” wheel design reduces turbulent drag and optimizes aerodynamic performance • Declining brake track (25.5mm width at its middle section) reduces aerodynamic drag • Maximum width optimized for each individual wheel (max width for 38mm wheel: 27,5mm; 55mm wheel: 28,5mm; 88mm wheel: 30mm) reduces the turbulent flow and minimises fluid drag force • Wide rim allows great aerodynamic performance for different sizes of tyre • Design optimized for fantastic performance with all tyres that are 23mm wide or bigger

Our design is influenced by feedback from cyclists and multi-sport athletes at each stage of our development process. We initially define ideas based on inputs from our customers, partners and athletes. Then, we test those ideas at each stage with computer based software, including Computer Fluid Dynamics, and real-life field-testing for our prototypes. We apply short cycles of iterations where a product is only allowed to progress to the next stage if we see satisfactory results. This allows us to continuously optimize until we reach a high-quality product we are ready to release.

Custom details We believe your bike should not only be fast, but also look great and feel unique. We’ve created several unique ways to help you personalize your bike. A comment we constantly get from cyclists is that they are always looking for ways to further personalize their racer. Also, they care about matching colours and appreciate the appearance of a well designed bike. We currently offer two standard colour combinations (grey and black) with three options for further personalization (yellow, green, red) and we are constantly looking for ideas to add more.

KRU hub caps create a unique identity for your bike to help you break your “Personal Best” in style. They also provide extra protection for the bearings and the internal mechanic parts by making it more difficult for dirt and water to infiltrate.

VALVE EXTENSIONS For inner tubes and tubulars with removable valve cores

RIM TAPE High pressure rim tape available in sizes 18mm and 20mm (for C-50 only). They are very elastic, which makes them easy to install and allows them to be reused.

Our brake pads are manufactured using a low density compound and a heat resistant polymer for better heat dissipation. They are also kevlar reinforced and UV resistant coating for extended durability. KRU brake pads are the only recommended option for our carbon rims. They are available in two sizes, standard and slim, to adapt to bikes with narrower brakes.

VALVE ADAPTER TOOL This j-shaped valve adapter can be attached on top of the valve to inflate the W-GEAR wheel tyre.

VALVE CAP This cap is specifically designed to be applied in the valve cutout of the W-GEAR wheel to improve aerodynamic performance

END CAPS We provide two combinations of high-quality end caps to match the different types of skewers we provide. One type (5mm front and back) for the titanium and stainless steel quick release skewers and another (9mm front, 10mm back) for the alloy thru axle skewer.

QR SKEWERS Stainless steel QR skewers are the standard for our carbon alloy wheels (C-50). 29

Quick release skewers Our skewers are characterised by an innovative integrated camme system that allow for an easy and fast change of wheel without any extra weight. We’ve achieved this by using an elastic ring connected to a spring so that the nut can’t be separated from the lever.

TA SKEWERS Alloy thru axle skewers are the default choice on our carbon wheels and provide additional stiffness without any extra weight.

TI SKEWERS Our titanium skewer is our lightest option and are available as an optional accessory (5mm axle). Matching end caps are also available as an extra. * Our wheels are available as both individual wheels and wheel sets. Wheelsets can be composed of two wheels of the same rim depth (such as C-38 front/back) or combining different models (such as C-60 front, C-88 back).
