Sometimes It Takes A Tragedy by Robert H. Steffen
Sometimes it takes a tragedy to cause us to take hold of our lives and create triumph.
the beauty and the blessings that surround us every day. Yesterdays - all of them are behind us. Do not live there. Do not stay there. Gather from them those things that lift you up and inspire you to move forward and get ahead, not give you further cause to go back.
From the rumble of toppled buildings to crushed and shattered hopes and dreams - where we go from here all starts at a beginning. Do we rebuild from rubble with the same anger, greed, hate and self centered agenda that brought them down and brought US down in the first place?
Stop pointing at the events passed and blaming them for where you are, how you feel and what you do. The rut you’ve created by always going back to the past is making it harder and harder for you to choose and create a better path for your Life.
Will we hold on forever to those things gone by that would keep us grounded from taking the steps forward to a future filled with hope
Let this day be a turning point from those things familiar that confine you, and open your eyes and arms to see and receive the treasures of today that are here...
with peace with a Love that leads to real and remaining progress? Until we move on from memories that serve to remind us of our failures and away from a past that constantly renews our fears and tear our hearts as they try and mend, we will ever remain blind to
Today IS your day; Now is YOUR moment... Never forget it...

My Dream Home from a Bird’s Eye View
I fly through the sky searching for the perfect dream home. A gentle breeze catches my wings pulling me below the billowy clouds. Rows of pine trees follow a lane, leading me to a cottage by the mountains. A babbling brook greets me as it bends around the front lawn. Huge boulders lay in the creek bed, protecting purple flowers from the current. There it is; my perfect dream home.
“What kind of Robin would I be if I didn’t take a dip in the birdbath?” The cold water is very tasty on this hot day. Refreshed, I catch the breeze and fly over a wishing well and a lawn swing. I dive between two Weeping Cherry trees, pink blossoms cascade around me. “I love the aroma of nice flowers!” I swoop past the stone wall, covered in blue and white morning glories. Creeping phlox entwine the
base of the cottage. I inhale the scent of fresh cut grass as I perch in a tall tree. An old garage crouches over a woodpile as smoke rises from the chimney. Thomas Kinkaid would love to paint this cottage, as it nestles against the hillside.
The view is breathless. Deer gracefully walk out of the woods to get a cold drink of water from the brook. Suddenly, they flee, disappearing into the woods.
The silence is broken. Voices of children echo loudly as they run into the yard. Such a beautiful place to call home.
