he upcoming presidential elections finds the youth of Cyprus migrated, unemployed, angry and disappointed. It is this generation which was characterized as the “lost generation”. A generation that has intensively lived the anti-popular policies of Anastasiades’ government supported by Nicolas Papadopoulos. The students are the ones who are worried whether they will be able to finish their studies. Young people are the ones who are losing their labour rights, the unemployed and migrants. For those reasons, and so many others, this generation is looking for the change. The new generation is not convinced by big words and empty promises. They are sick of the political establishment. The youth of Cyprus is looking for the truth and recognizes the purity in words and the reliability in actions. The new generation of Cyprus is dreaming and hoping in a better future! In a free, reunited and peaceful country. In a progressive, scientific and cultural country. In a country of isonomy, and equal opportunities. In a country for its own needs. The statements and the tactic of Mrs Anastasiades, lead the Cyprus problem in dangerous pathways, exonerating Turkey for violating the sovereign rights of Cyprus Republic. They have proved it by their massive presence and their pulse at the Great Pre-Election Concert in “Eleftheria” stadium. The new generation has no longer any dilemmas. The new generation has a choice! It has hope! The new generation has seen a perspective in the figure of Stavros Malas. Because the future unites us! The future that each one of us deserves. On the 28th of January and 4th of February, the new generation votes for Stavros Malas!

s we approach the elections, we are witnessing the commitments and promises made by the staff, of both President Anastasiades and Nicolas Papadopoulos.
The recent statement by Nikos Anastasiades on 7/1/2018, on raising the minimum wage in two years if re-elected, was another purely pre-election commitment, which contradicts both earlier statements by Anastasiades himself and the policies followed by his government over the past 5 years. Reductions of more than 20% in wages, termination of bonuses and repeated reductions in the minimum wage were just a few of the government’s austerity measures. In addition, Anastasiades himself said that in the pre-election debate of 2013, that raising the minimum wage leads to high production costs. On the other hand, Nicolas Papadopoulos, who is presenting himself as the advocate of the rights of the people and promises impossible things, is the same man who hand in hand with the government and DISY voted for bills and budgets that were not in the benefit of the people.
It is also known the neo-liberal views of Nicholas Papadopoulos, who disagreed with the policy of raising the minimum wage by Christofias’s government, saying in March 2010: “to give additional operating expenses for companies in the form of additional taxes and by increases in their own operating costs are the worst thing”. Nikos Anastasiades and Nikolas Papadopoulos, despite all the commitments and pre-election promises, they are not persuasive enough of their supposed feelings “for the people”. On the contrary, Stavros Malas, with his proposals, sets up a strong safety net for workers. In particular, Stavros Malas proposes legislative safeguards for the application of collective agreements and their extension to entire economic sectors and the legislative establishment of the minimum wage for workers not covered by collective agreements. It is clear that workers have only one option on January 28 and February 4, and this is none other than Stavros Malas.

-year-old Palestinian Ahmed Tamimi was arrested by the Israeli army after a slap that she gave to an Israeli soldier who invaded her home and shot her 15-year-old cousin on his head. The Israeli journalist, Ben Gashit, from the “Maariv” newspaper after the events, called for a gang rape against the Palestinian teenager as punishment for the slap she gave to the Israeli soldier. Characteristically, he wrote that everything must “be done in the dark, without witnesses and cameras”, stirring up a wave of reactions. At the same time, the news of Ahed Tamimi’s imprisonment became known throughout the world, marking the young lady the new symbol of the struggle for the suffering Palestinian people.
At the same time, the news of Ahed Tamimi’s imprisonment became known throughout the world, marking the young lady the new symbol of the struggle for the suffering Palestinian people. On the occasion of the meeting between the General Secretary of EDON, Christos Christofias and the Head of the International Relations Bureau, Seviros Koulas, on behalf of the Central Council of EDON, and the new Ambassador of Palestine in Cyprus, Mr. Jubran D.J. Taweel, our organization, reaffirmed our long-standing solidarity and support for the Palestinian people. In fact, in a symbolic action, a framed picture dedicated to young Ahed Tamimi was gifted to the Ambassador, as for EDON Ahed is an example of struggle and hope for the people who seek their freedom from imperialist forces and everything else that violates their freedoms.
