Northwest Catholic is the school where you know you belong. In the following pages you’ll discover what that means. We have profiled ten seniors who illustrate what it means to feel welcome at NWC and how they belong in their unique ways. When we speak of the profile of a graduate, we are talking about a student who is becoming, not a student who has become. We invite students to discover who they are over their four years at NWC. We give students the tools to again explore who they are in college and beyond. Our mission is to educate the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. We believe that an education that does not take into account a student’s spiritual life is incomplete. We encourage excellence, and as each student strives for it — academically, athletically, and artistically — he or she becomes a person of faith and service. The ten students you will meet on these pages will help you understand how our students carve their paths at Northwest Catholic. There are no one dimensional people here. Our mathematicians are athletes, our vocalists are volunteers, our writers are runners and cellists and altar servers and on and on. We believe academic formation and spiritual formation are interconnected. In other words, one cannot be a spiritual person in church but not in the classroom or on the court. We subscribe to the notion that our whole selves are invested in everything we do, and that God is at work in all of it. Welcome to Northwest Catholic. Find out why NWC is the school where you know you belong. And let me introduce to you ten of our seniors.

Alex Alex reminds us to avoid stress. As much as he admits school and grades are important, he urges us to develop all our dimensions, not just our academic side. He tells us to find something we love, spend time with friends, join clubs, play sports, and be happy.
“Alex is so involved in everything Northwest Catholic has to offer. He has dedicated himself to his studies, running cross country and track, reporting on sports for the newspaper, playing in the band, and volunteering. Ifeoma Ifeoma believes a person’s happiness should be a factor in every decision he or she makes. At the same time, she believes we must tackle the hard work that leads us to happiness. She borrows her motto from former Major League Baseball general manager Frank Lane: “If you want to see sunshine, you have to weather the storm.”
“Ifeoma is a delight. Smart, engaging, and musically talented, she is an excellent student-athlete, well respected by her peers and adults alike.” Betsy Quinn, Guidance Counselor
“NWC has welcomed me with open arms. I came to this school knowing no one, and the community embraced me. I was allowed to ease into the environment, and today I know I’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime.” ~ Ifeoma

student to say hello and the first to volunteer to help goes out of her way to be nice to everyone. She embodies what we expect a NWC student to be.” Elizabeth Lynch McCarthy ’94, Dean of Students, Fine & Performing Arts Department Chair
Dylan Dylan encourages us to be curious and open minded. He says if we strive to understand another’s perspective, we’ll be better for it.
“Dylan inspires people to be their very best. His academic excellence and leadership skills are second to none, but it is his heart that is his greatest strength.” Kate Morran, Dramateurs Director and Choreographer, Academic Support Teacher
“Dylan for President!” Mary Roberts ’96, Director of Leadership
“The incredible friends and inspiring mentors I’ve met at Northwest Catholic have changed my life for the better.” ~ Dylan
At Northwest Catholic, we invite
students to discover who they are. To know you belong means to know you are welcome, to know you are not a number. Discovering you belong is the hallmark of a Northwest Catholic education. As James Joyce wrote, “Catholic means ‘Here comes everybody.’” NWC welcomes students from every walk of life — every faith, every place, every interest, every dream. All are welcome at Northwest Catholic, and all will discover how they too belong.
