Gina Donato is in the District doing visits until the end of the month. Nancy shared a Google Calendar with you titled Follett visit's. Feel free to make appointments to discuss anything: Follett, Destiny, ebooks, Brytewave, etc. If possible, but not required, if you notice a school in your area scheduled an appt., try to schedule around that. Please be sure you are on the calendar titled Follett visit's (under my calendars). If you don't, you are only creating an event on your own Google calendar.
Distribution of Catalog Search Tablets Most of the Samsung Tab4 Tablets have been distributed, if you don’t already have an appointment with Kim then they will be distributed at the November 2nd and 3rd PD days. A couple of things came up while talking with librarians about the tablets: ● What if I want to purchase my own stand? That is totally up to you but be sure that it is locking and that the power cable fits into the mount. Also, be sure to let Kim know that you purchased a stand so that we don’t order another one for you. ● Are you new to the Google Apps for Education Play Store? Which is different than the public Google Play Store. check out the kick start guide to using the Google Apps for Education Play Store here. ● Where can I get help on my new Android tablet? In the Google Apps for Education Training Center they have a entire unit of study devoted to tablet development.

Teen Read Week Activity - Edible Books For Teen Read Week and created by the Chelbrarian, Take It and Make It Edible Book Craft. Teens will sign out a kit that contains everything they need to make edible books at home. Adapted from Teen Read Week website. The project cost around $15 for about 25 kits. If you’re interested, the Chelbrarian uploaded the files for the kit label and edible book instructions. And remember to post pictures on social media with the #parkwayreads hashtag.
Google Tips & Tricks At the MOREnet conference two Google Certified Teachers went head-to-head on the best tips, tricks, and strategies for using Google Apps for Education and other Google products. Below are the items you might try out. (Thanks to Amy Johnson we have the complete list). Imagine the possibilities. Google Docs ● Link Chooser an “Add on” lets you link to a doc or folder in your Drive to automatically open it from the Doc you are working on ● Voice Typing- Click on voice typing under “Tools” and speak to convert to text Google Slides ● Use Slides to create Infographics- While in Slides create placeholder templates for images, graphs, and text ● Change Slide Orientation- File>Page Setup>Custom 8.5 x11 makes it a portrait page Google Sheets ● Pivot Tables- (a tool that allows you to summarize and explore data interactively) in Sheets, Data>Pivot Table>fill in report editor ● Explore button- the plus sign in lower right hand corner of sheets will graph data instantly Google Forms ● A Spreadsheet list copied into Forms- You can copy a list from Sheets into Forms to create multiple choice questions ● Pre-filled URL- under Responses>get pre filled URL this allows you to have pre-filled fields with consistent naming so that sorting data is accurate Google Drawing ● Create Slide Templates- create template in Draw (using same page layout) and download as jpeg, then drag into Slides, and duplicate slide ● Interactive Images with Google Sites- Link images in Drawing and insert into Sites as an interactive header Google Classroom ● Share to Classroom extension - It pushes a website out to students in your Classroom - bonus: students can also push to the teacher ● Classroom Calendar shared to Parents- This latest update automatically creates a Calendar for each Classroom which can then be made public and embedded into a website or blog.
