Conference Information The Ohio Early Care and Education Conference provides a forum in which individuals can discuss issues vital to those who work on behalf of children and families. Although we encourage the exchange of diverse opinions, the ideas and handouts presented at the conference do not necessarily reflect the positions of the Ohio Association for the Education of Young Children (Ohio AEYC). Ohio AEYC assumes no responsibility for any statement of fact or opinion presented at the conference, nor does the acceptance of advertising or exhibits imply endorsement of any products or services by Ohio AEYC.
Don’t forget to bring your agenda & name badge! Agenda and Name Badge Your personal conference agenda and name badge are your admittance to workshops and the Exhibit Hall E/F. Please wear your name badge not only as a courtesy to other attendees, but also as an indication that you are registered. Present your agenda to pick up optional items purchased with registration such as t-shirts, books and box lunches. Conference Check-In and Conference Materials When you arrive at the conference, you will need to go to the conference check-in counters located in Exhibit Hall E/F to pick up your conference bag with your name badge holder and professional credit sheet. Handouts Click here to access the conference workshop handouts. Not all workshops have handouts. All handouts are provided in printable PDF format. Free Wi-Fi is available at the Convention Center if you wish to view your handouts on your smart device. Should you print your handouts, choose the printer settings that work best for you and your printer (single or two-sided, draft, black ink only, etc.) A $10.00 fee will be charged to print handouts. Workshop Attendance and Room Numbers When you arrive at your workshop, a Workshop Greeter will welcome you and check your agenda to confirm you’re pre-registered for the workshop. If you would like to attend a workshop not on your agenda, keep in mind how our system works to honor pre-registered attendees. Pre-registered attendees are seated first. However, ten minutes after the workshop begins, all open seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Professional Credit Form At the completion of each session, Workshop Greeters will distribute stickers that serve as proof of attendance necessary for professional credit. Participants should place the stickers on the professional credit form that is provided. The stickers and professional credit sheet cannot be replaced if lost. KEEP YOUR FORM! DO NOT TURN IT IN! IMPORTANT: Review the instructions on the back of the form for each type of professional credit. Special instructions are provided for CSWMFT credit. Entertainment Pick up a copy of the Columbus Visitor’s Guide at the registration desk in the Exhibit Hall (Hall E/F) for information on shopping, dining and entertainment available in Columbus. Dining Food concessions are located in Exhibit Hall E/F Thursday evening during the Exhibitor Showcase Grand Opening and during lunch on Friday and Saturday. A food court is located on the lower level of the Hyatt Regency Columbus. The Food Court has a wide selection of quick menu items and snacks. Java Station is on the main concourse of the Convention Center. A list of local restaurants in the immediate area is included in the Visitor’s Guide which is available at the check-in desk. Directions In the map section of this book are driving directions and parking locations. You can also get detailed directions by going to www.mapquest.com. The address of the Convention Center is 400 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio. Exhibit Halls E/F are located on the north side of the building. The Convention Center information number is (614) 827-2500. Please provide yourself with plenty of time in the morning because other events scheduled at the Convention Center may make it difficult to find a space to park. 8
Exhibitor Showcase Commercial vendors and a variety of nonprofit organizations serving early care and education programs will participate in the Exhibitor Showcase located in Hall E/F. Browse through the Exhibit Hall and discover a wealth of instructional resources, tools for professional development, classroom equipment and materials, children’s literature, professional literature and the latest in educational technology. A list of exhibitors can be found in the back of this program. Evaluations We value your feedback. During the conference, please take a few minutes to make a few notes about your workshop, keynote and overall conference experience. After the conference, you will receive an email invitation to give us your feedback in an electronic survey. Please provide your response to help us in plan future conferences to best meet your needs. Fire Safety To prepare for the unlikely event of fire or other emergency requiring rapid departure, please locate all exit doors and routes upon entering any room. Smoking No smoking is permitted anywhere inside the Greater Columbus Convention Center. A Word of Caution Unfortunately, losses and thefts occur whenever large numbers of people meet and the general public has access to the building. Please exercise adequate precautionary measures. The Greater Columbus Convention Center and Ohio AEYC are not responsible for any items lost or stolen during the conference. Lost and Found Please visit the registration counter located in Hall E/F of the Convention Center to turn in or claim any lost items. All unclaimed items will be turned into the Convention Center security office at the end of the conference. Contact security at: 614-827-2500.
Ohio AEYC staff will not be available to answer phones during the conference. In the event you have an emergency and you must reach a staff member, please email or leave a voice message and your call will be returned as time permits. Note: It is not necessary for you to call us if you or an employee are unable to attend the conference. You may send a substitute. The deadline for refunds has passed. If you are lost or unable to find parking, we are unable to provide directions.
