The project is aiming to act like a relaxation sanctuary in a middle of chaotic and polluted city area. It situates itself among a couple of high-rise buildings with the entry points connected to these buildings and also other connection that allows outsider to participate in the space. The space will be a semi-closed system using tensile membrane as a border surface to partially block out the city image that people in the area are tired of but these membranes are translucent so it will still allows adequate amount of daylight within the space.

Space Configuration

This space fully occupied the site location where the garden part the contain essential rituals will be under a group of modular roof structure while the surrounded leftover space will be used as a preparation space such as changing room and reception lobby. This space are trying to distinct itself from its surrounding and emphasize the idea of calming compartment and compartmentalization in the middle of a city. Several compartments are scattered throughout the space guided by the need of privacy on each activity. The shape of this project are driven by zen principles of design which are simpleness and naturalness.

Visual Manifesto

Simpleness is represented by the use of simple geometry such as hexagon as a starting point while naturalness is represented through the arrangement of column which are abundant and quite random resembling the idea of walking among forest when roaming the space. Most materials used in this project will be natural giving the sense of nature within space unlike its surrounding environment that is mostly consisted of artificial material such as steel, glass and concrete. This sanctuary hopes to transform stressful city people into a more calm and relaxed person improving the performance in living their lives and their works.

Site & User Analysis Located in one of Hong Kong’s crowded tourist districts, the brothel tower hovers above shop houses in SoHo. It is best-known for a nightlife district of various kinds of hidden entertainment services clustered throughout the district. Prostitution is the most notable form of entertainment offered.

The design of the tower is driven by a type of prostitution done by most of the working women who are in this industry, One-Woman brothel. In this form of prostitution, the prostitute would use her own room for both working and living activities. These activities and integrated living conditions, sometimes would cause harm to the workers when encountering violent customers.

The project proposes a tower in which the prostitute is able to rent a preparation space while customers can rent a unit for sexual pleasure. The project aims to improve the living condition of these sex workers whilst they can separate their life and their work from each other. The customer’s unit is designed to be customisable in terms of size using a flexible partition. This allows for a multitude of transformations related to space and its amenities. The bathtub is expandable by its size by lifting up the bed and lowering the panel under it for larger bath.

Drawn inspiration from the history

The tower has been designed to represent the characteristics of the sex industry of Hong Kong which is hidden, yet, famous as everybody knows its existence but might not know where they can experience it. This brothel is located where it is noticeable but the entrance is hidden from outside.

Plasti ( City )

Bangkok’s Chinatown is one of the areas where productive process used to be highly active. As time changed, these productive processes are also fading leaving behind just a few business owners that still manufacture and sell their product altogether within the area. The business I was focusing on is a product made from plant fiber ranging from everyday-use object to ritual product. This is another example of a business that is vanishing from the city center area and move away to neighbor province instead. The reason this happens is due to the access to fabrication material, Plant-fiber. It usually comes from local plants that are abundantly available throughout the country. People were harvesting them and turn them into a product they can use daily for their lives. However, the urban sprawl in the city has also caused the disappearance of these plant around its area. The lack of material is one of the driven force that push this productive process away from the city and it is also a challenging opportunity on how could it be introduced into the city again.

The absence of natural material in city area is opening up a chance of introducing new type of material that could be harvested easily within the city area. Recyclable rubbish such as plastic, paper and aluminium can have a high potential for a replacement. The reason is not only because of its active presence in the city but also relating to the notion of cleaning the city and help fasten the process of recycling. The societal hierarchy of Bangkok is based on the concept of top-down development where the order will be desired and sent by the government before the action could be taken and this is including the recycling process and trash management. With globalization nowadays, the system can now be reversed and recycling process can be started by ourselves.

The concluded concept of this project will basically consists of 4 urban scenarios with the aim of recycle encouragement as well as allowing access of people to the Chrao Phraya river as a part of “Bring Life Back To Chao Phraya Campaign.

The first scenario is the place where the plastic trash will be bought and process to create an object, raw material and a floater in which will help develop the project to its ultimate scenario.

The second scenario will be the main production facility in which it will used the raw material produced in the first scenario and 3d print space on top of the floater to create a sort of artificial islands.

Later, these island would be colonizing the river shore with many different programs according to the need of people in many different area along the river. This is not only to allow the use of recyclable plastic waste in another level but its outcome will also provide a place that connect people to the river in a hope to bring the river as a part of everyone’s life. Therefore, everyone in the city will be much more protective and conservative of the river. Ultimately, when this type of space is broken or can be no longer used, it will be pushed back into the cycle again to create something useful according to its property and quality.

Possible Location of the project

Mock up physical Model

In the present climate, Biodiversity which is one of the most powerful strategy that helps sustain the well-being of our world is getting lost Especially , in an urban area where human population is highly concentrated and sprawling. This results in habitat loss for some animals that couldn’t adjust to the anthropocene environment. But for those who are able to do so, they are living in a very unhealthy condition that does not meant for them Bats are one of those animal that were forced to live in an unsuitable situation In response to that, I would like to propose a roofing system that aim to promote a mutual benefit between human and batsas in better and healthier living environment for bats that human can benefit from it as well Despite of microbats multi-benefit , lots of people still despise the bats and don't want them near. So, as a starting point , the project can be first located in an area where they will be welcome such as Urban Farm Because the presence of bat will really helps facilitate the farm in terms of getting rid of the pest naturally And having one of the best fertilizer in disposal to use within the farm.

Each module and micro-program require a different weather exposure. So they can be placed in a different position using information from sun path and wind rose diagram of Bangkok 1.The red module represents the planter pot unit In which they will be placed where they can receive a full amount of sun 2. The breeze breeze to the

blue module represents the habitable module. So it should locate in an area that is not too hot with some such as the southern east side where it receive the morning sun which is not too hot while also getting the from the south And also the northern part of the structure that most of the module are turning their back sun hile receiving a gentle breeze from the north

3. the yellow module is also representing the habitable moduleut they will be placed in a harsh sun area among of botanical module. So that the shadow from the plant can help provide shade and cool down the space These modules are mean for a small group of bat that might not want to be in a large cluster of their species

For the interior program for human , it’s possible to have the rotation of activities regarding of the weather and precipitation through the year. Usually , urban farm are open for visitor and tourist . So, during dry season when lots of visitor are expected The inside space can be used similarly to a pavilion ---where visitor can spend time hanging out or buying farmer products

for the interior during the wet season, other kind of food production can be integrated along with typical urban farm. That food production is mushroom which requires high amount of humidity. They are known to be a fast grower and when growing in the right weather in the wet season. They can be a source of food that is easy to grow and so we can cultivate them frequently
