Dear Graduating Students,
As we write this message, we are filled with immense pride and joy, knowing that the day of your graduation is just around the corner. On behalf of the entire Graduate School and eCampus faculty and staff, it is our honor to extend our heartfelt congratulations to each and every one of you.
Graduation is a milestone that marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. It is a time to celebrate your achievements, reflect on your personal and intellectual growth, and embark on the next chapter of your life. This moment is not just about the degree you will receive but also about the knowledge, skills, and experiences you have gained during your time with Keiser University.
Throughout your journey, you have faced challenges and overcome obstacles, discovering your strengths and learning from your mistakes. You have embraced diversity of thought, engaged in critical thinking, and fostered meaningful connections with your peers, professors, and mentors. These experiences have not only shaped you as individuals but have also enriched our vibrant academic community.
As you prepare to compete in a global and multicultural workforce, remember that the education you have received here is a powerful tool that will guide you in your future endeavors. You have been equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate the world's complexities, adapt to change, and positively impact whatever path you choose to pursue.
We encourage you to hold on to the values and principles that have guided you throughout your time here. Be curious, be open-minded, and never stop learning. Embrace the opportunities that come your way, even if they seem daunting at first. Remember that failure is not a setback but rather a stepping stone to success. Believe in yourselves, for you have already proven capable of great things.
As you move forward, remember the importance of giving back. Use your education and skills to serve your communities and make a difference in the lives of others. Be compassionate, empathetic, and inclusive, and be a force for positive change in the world.
Finally, we want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for choosing Keiser University as your academic home. It has been a privilege to witness your growth, to be a part of your journey, and to see the transformative impact you have had on our school. As you cross the stage on graduation day, remember that you are not just leaving a place but carrying with you the memories, friendships, and experiences that will stay with you for a lifetime.
Congratulations once again. May your future be filled with endless opportunities, remarkable achievements, and the fulfillment of your dreams. Know that you will always have a home here and that our doors will forever be open to welcome you back.

Alina and her parents escaped the oppressive Communist regime in their native Cuba and arrived in America penniless, yearning for nothing except to live free in the United States. Her mom, Elena, and her father, Lorenzo, worked meager jobs to put food on the table and provide a modest but decent life for their young family. Like many exiled families at first, it was very hard for the Garcias' to make ends meet and adjust to their new lives in the foreign country that adopted them. But with extraordinary determination and perseverance after a few short years, they were able to purchase their own home and become small business owners, allowing them to live the American Dream. She was raised in Miami, where she received a first-class public education while attending Miami Dade Public Schools graduating from Miami Senior High School and continuing her postsecondary education at Miami Dade Community College.
At an early age, Alina was taught the values of modesty, gratefulness, and a strong sense of selflessness, compelling her to give back to the community and the country that gave her and her parents so much.
Alina Garcia has had a distinguished, 30-year career in public service. Starting in 1992 as a Legislative Aide in Tallahassee. Alina has served under accomplished Republican leaders including, United States Senator Marco Rubio, City of Hialeah Mayor Esteban Bovo, City of Miami Commissioner Joe Carollo, and Florida's Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, among many others. She is especially proud to have served as U.S. Senator Rubio's first Legislative Aide when he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1999. In her many professional roles, Alina has assisted in efforts to balance state and local government budgets and fight on behalf of our community's taxpayers and working families.
Ms. García is the proud mother of three, grandmother to eleven wonderful grandchildren, and a strong woman of faith who is active in her local parish. She is particularly proud of her brother, The Honorable Monsignor Willie Pena who is the Pastor of Saint Bernardita in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Having raised her children as a single mom, Alina understands the struggles of hard-working families. She looks forward to advocating on their behalf and for our communities in the Florida House of Representatives.
Alina Garcia is a highly experienced, dedicated public servant who strives for excellence in everything she sets out to accomplish. Alina Garcia has devoted her entire adult life to public service and the betterment of the community she loves. She is a small business owner with over thirty years of community involvement and leadership.

The academic costume worn today originated during the 12th and 13th centuries, when gowns and hoods kept scholars and clerics warm. The distinctive gown served to set the student apart from other citizens. Until after the Civil War, students at most American universities wore caps and gowns daily. They varied in design until they were standardized by the American Intercollegiate Commission in 1894. At that time it was decided that all robes would be black - bachelors' gowns to be made of worsted stuff with pointed sleeves, masters' gowns of silk with long, closed sleeves, doctors' gowns of silk with longer sleeves and faced with black velvet from hem to neck and back. They also carried three velvet bands around each sleeve about the elbow. Hoods were made of the same material as the gowns, the length varying with the degree. The lining of the hood identifies the highest degree-granting university by its color. Keiser University’s colors are blue and white.
The border of the hood indicated the academic discipline in which the degree was earned, as listed below:
