Students
Kai Ono Piano Performance and Music Composition Hometown: Irvine, CA “As a member of the KU Jazz Ensemble I and KU Wind Ensemble, I’ve had the opportunity to play some of the newest written music in both the classical and the jazz worlds. Both groups are nationally renowned, providing incredible performance and recording opportunities.”
Alyssa Ott Music Therapy, Oboe Hometown: Lewisville, TX “The KU School of Music provides a small school atmosphere on a large school campus. It’s nice to be in a building with so many familiar faces, but to still have the opportunities and resources that a larger school can provide.”
Michael Solomon Music Education, Trumpet Hometown: Boone, Iowa “Someday I hope to be a high school band director, and the KU School of Music has helped me do that by immersing me in so many different mediums, performances, and teaching experiences. There are connections between composition, theory, performance, education, and therapy. KU gives you a really well-rounded education that helps you become a great teacher someday.”
